29 人屡次受责罚,仍然硬着颈项,他必顷刻败坏,无法可治。 2 义人增多,民就喜乐;恶人掌权,民就叹息。 3 爱慕智慧的使父亲喜乐,与妓女结交的却浪费钱财。 4 王借公平使国坚定,索要贿赂使国倾败。 5 谄媚邻舍的,就是设网罗绊他的脚。 6 恶人犯罪自陷网罗,唯独义人欢呼喜乐。 7 义人知道查明穷人的案,恶人没有聪明就不得而知。 8 亵慢人煽惑通城,智慧人止息众怒。 9 智慧人与愚妄人相争,或怒,或笑,总不能使他止息。 10 好流人血的,恨恶完全人,索取正直人的性命。 11 愚妄人怒气全发,智慧人忍气含怒。 12 君王若听谎言,他一切臣仆都是奸恶。 13 贫穷人强暴人在世相遇,他们的眼目都蒙耶和华光照。 14 君王凭诚实判断穷人,他的国位必永远坚立。 15 杖打和责备能加增智慧,放纵的儿子使母亲羞愧。 16 恶人加多,过犯也加多,义人必看见他们跌倒。 17 管教你的儿子,他就使你得安息,也必使你心里喜乐。 18 没有异象[a],民就放肆;唯遵守律法的,便为有福。 19 只用言语,仆人不肯受管教,他虽然明白也不留意。 20 你见言语急躁的人吗?愚昧人比他更有指望。 21 人将仆人从小娇养,这仆人终久必成了他的儿子。 22 好气的人挑起争端,暴怒的人多多犯罪。 23 人的高傲必使他卑下,心里谦逊的必得尊荣。 24 人与盗贼分赃是恨恶自己的性命,他听见叫人发誓的声音,却不言语。 25 惧怕人的陷入网罗,唯有倚靠耶和华的必得安稳。 26 求王恩的人多,定人事乃在耶和华。 27 为非作歹的被义人憎嫌,行事正直的被恶人憎恶。

29 (A)He who is often reproved, yet stiffens his neck,
will suddenly be (B)broken (C)beyond healing.
2 When (D)the righteous increase, the people rejoice,
but when (E)the wicked rule, the people groan.
3 He who (F)loves wisdom makes his father glad,
but (G)a companion of prostitutes (H)squanders his wealth.
4 By justice a king (I)builds up the land,
but he who exacts gifts[a] tears it down.
5 (J)A man who flatters his neighbor
spreads (K)a net for his feet.
6 An evil man is (L)ensnared in his transgression,
but a righteous man (M)sings and rejoices.
7 A righteous man (N)knows the rights of the poor;
a wicked man does not (O)understand such knowledge.
8 (P)Scoffers set a city aflame,
but the wise turn away wrath.
9 If a wise man has an argument with a fool,
the fool only rages and laughs, and there is (Q)no quiet.
10 Bloodthirsty men (R)hate one who is blameless
and seek the life of the upright.[b]
11 A fool gives full vent to his spirit,
but a wise man quietly holds it back.
12 If a ruler listens to falsehood,
all his officials will be wicked.
13 The poor man and the oppressor (S)meet together;
the Lord (T)gives light to the eyes of both.
14 If a king (U)faithfully judges the poor,
his throne will (V)be established forever.
15 (W)The rod and reproof give wisdom,
but a child left to himself (X)brings shame to his mother.
16 When the wicked increase, transgression increases,
but (Y)the righteous will look upon their downfall.
17 (Z)Discipline your son, and he will give you rest;
he will give delight to your heart.
18 Where (AA)there is no prophetic vision the people (AB)cast off restraint,[c]
but blessed is he who (AC)keeps the law.
19 By mere words a servant is not disciplined,
for though he understands, he will not respond.
20 Do you see a man who is hasty in his words?
(AD)There is more hope for a fool than for him.
21 Whoever pampers his servant from childhood
will in the end find him his heir.[d]
22 (AE)A man of wrath stirs up strife,
and one given to anger causes much transgression.
23 (AF)One's pride will bring him low,
(AG)but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor.
24 The partner of a thief (AH)hates his own life;
(AI)he hears the curse, but discloses nothing.
25 (AJ)The fear of man lays a snare,
but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.
26 Many (AK)seek the face of a ruler,
but it is from the Lord that a man (AL)gets justice.
27 (AM)An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous,
but one whose way is straight is an abomination to the wicked.
