24 Nu pizmui(A) pe oamenii cei răi
şi nu(B) dori să fii cu ei;
2 căci(C) inima lor se gândeşte la prăpăd
şi buzele lor vorbesc nelegiuiri.
3 Prin înţelepciune se înalţă o casă
şi prin pricepere se întăreşte;
4 prin ştiinţă se umplu cămările ei
de toate bunătăţile de preţ şi plăcute.
5 Un om(D) înţelept este plin de putere
şi cel priceput îşi oţeleşte vlaga.
6 Căci(E) prin măsuri chibzuite câştigi bătălia,
şi prin marele număr al sfetnicilor ai biruinţa.
7 Înţelepciunea este prea(F) înaltă pentru cel nebun:
el nu va deschide gura la judecată.
8 Cine se(G) gândeşte să facă rău
se cheamă un om plin de răutate.
9 Gândul celui nebun nu este decât păcat
şi batjocoritorul este o scârbă pentru oameni.
10 Dacă slăbeşti în ziua necazului,
mică îţi este puterea.
11 Izbăveşte(H) pe cei târâţi la moarte
şi scapă pe cei ce sunt aproape să fie înjunghiaţi.
12 Dacă zici: „Ah! n-am ştiut!”…
Crezi că nu vede Cel ce(I) cântăreşte inimile
şi Cel ce veghează asupra sufletului tău?
Şi nu va răsplăti El fiecăruia după(J) faptele lui?
13 Fiule, mănâncă(K) miere, căci este bună
şi fagurul de miere este dulce pentru cerul gurii tale.
14 Tot(L) aşa şi înţelepciunea este bună pentru sufletul tău:
dacă o vei găsi, ai un viitor(M)
şi nu ţi se va tăia nădejdea.
15 Nu(N) întinde curse, nelegiuitule, la locuinţa celui neprihănit
şi nu-i tulbura odihna.
16 Căci(O) cel neprihănit de şapte ori cade şi se ridică,
dar(P) cei răi se prăbuşesc în nenorocire.
17 Nu(Q) te bucura de căderea vrăjmaşului tău
şi să nu ţi se veselească inima când se poticneşte el,
18 ca nu cumva Domnul să vadă, să nu-I placă
şi să-Şi întoarcă mânia de la el.
19 Nu(R) te mânia din pricina celor ce fac rău
şi nu pizmui pe cei răi!
20 Căci(S) cel ce face răul n-are niciun viitor
şi lumina(T) celor răi se stinge.
21 Fiule, teme-te(U) de Domnul şi de împăratul
şi să nu te amesteci cu cei neastâmpăraţi!
22 Căci deodată le va veni pieirea.
Şi cine poate şti sfârşitul amândurora?
23 Iată ce mai spun înţelepţii:
„Nu(V) este bine să ai în vedere faţa oamenilor în judecăţi.”
24 Pe cine(W) zice celui rău: „Tu eşti bun!”
îl blestemă popoarele şi-l urăsc neamurile.
25 Dar celor ce judecă drept le merge bine
şi o mare binecuvântare vine peste ei.
26 Un răspuns bun este
ca un sărut pe buze.
27 Vezi-ţi(X) întâi de treburi afară,
îngrijeşte de lucrul câmpului,
şi apoi apucă-te să-ţi zideşti casa!
28 Nu(Y) vorbi în chip uşuratic împotriva aproapelui tău;
ori ai vrea să înşeli cu buzele tale?
29 Nu(Z) zice: „Cum mi-a făcut el, aşa am să-i fac şi eu;
îi vor răsplăti după faptele lui!”
30 Am trecut pe lângă ogorul unui leneş
şi pe lângă via unui om fără minte.
31 Şi era(AA) numai spini, acoperit de mărăcini,
şi zidul de piatră era prăbuşit.
32 M-am uitat bine şi cu luare-aminte,
şi am tras învăţătură din ce am văzut.
33 „Să mai dorm puţin(AB), să mai aţipesc puţin,
să mai încrucişez mâinile puţin, ca să mă odihnesc!”
34 Şi sărăcia vine peste tine pe neaşteptate,
ca un hoţ, şi lipsa, ca un om înarmat.

24 不要羡慕惡人，
不要嚮往與他們為友；
2 因為他們心裡圖謀暴行，
口中談論惡事。
3 家靠智慧而建立，
靠悟性而穩固，
4 藉知識而充滿各種珍寶。
5 智者充滿能力，
哲士力上加力。
6 出征打仗，要憑智謀；
謀士眾多，勝券在握。
7 智慧對愚人高不可及，
他在城門口沉默不語。
8 圖謀作惡的必被稱為陰謀家。
9 愚人的計謀是罪惡，
人人都厭惡嘲諷者。
10 逆境中喪膽的是弱者。
11 被拉去屠殺的，你要搶救；
踉蹌受死的，你要攔阻。
12 不要推說自己毫不知情，
鑒察人心的主洞悉一切，
保守你生命的上帝知情，
祂必按你的行為報應你。
13 孩子啊，你要吃美好的蜂蜜，
蜂房滴下的蜜甘甜可口。
14 智慧同樣使你的心靈甘甜；
你若找到智慧，前途必光明，
盼望也不會幻滅。
15 不要像惡人一樣暗算義人，
破壞他的家。
16 因為義人跌倒七次也必起來，
惡人卻被災禍擊垮。
17 仇敵跌倒，不要幸災樂禍；
仇敵敗落，不要心裡歡喜。
18 否則，耶和華看見會不悅，
不再向仇敵發烈怒。
19 不要因惡人而憤憤不平，
也不要羡慕歹徒；
20 因為惡人毫無前途，
惡人的燈終必熄滅。
21 孩子啊，要敬畏耶和華和君王，
不要跟反復無常之徒為伍。
22 因為災禍必驟然臨到他們，
誰知道耶和華和君王如何毀滅他們？

23 以下也是智者的箴言：
判案時偏袒實為不善。
24 判惡人無罪的，
必遭萬人咒詛，
為列國痛恨。
25 責備惡人的必有歡樂，
美好的福氣必臨到他。
26 誠實的回答如同友好的親吻。
27 要安排好外面的事，
把田間的工作準備妥當，
然後建造房屋。
28 別無故作證害鄰舍，
也不可撒謊欺騙人。
29 不可說：「別人怎樣待我，

我要照他所做的報復他。」

24 Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
2 For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.
3 Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:
4 And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
5 A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.
6 For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.
7 Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.
8 He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.
9 The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.
10 If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.
11 If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;
12 If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?
13 My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:
14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.
15 Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:
16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:
18 Lest the Lord see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
19 Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked:
20 For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.
21 My son, fear thou the Lord and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:
22 For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?
23 These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.
24 He that saith unto the wicked, Thou are righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:
25 But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.
26 Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer.
27 Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.
28 Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips.
29 Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.
30 I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.
32 Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.
33 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
34 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.
