箴言 21

21 耶和华掌管君王的心，
易如支配垄沟的流水。
2 人自以为行事正确，
但耶和华衡量人心。
3 秉公行义比献祭更蒙耶和华喜悦。
4 高傲的眼，狂妄的心，恶人的灯，
都是罪恶。
5 勤劳者的计划必致富足，
行事急躁的人必致贫困。
6 骗来的财如过眼云雾，
使人掉进死亡的陷阱。
7 恶人的暴力必毁灭自己，
因为他们行事不公不义。
8 犯罪的人行径扭曲，
纯洁的人行为正直。
9 宁愿住在房顶的一角，
也不跟争闹之妻同屋。
10 恶人贪恋邪恶，
对邻舍残忍无情。
11 惩罚嘲讽者，愚人得智慧；
训诫智者，他便长见识。
12 公义的上帝鉴察恶人的家，
祂必使他们灭亡。
13 掩耳不听穷人呼求的，
他将来求救也无人管。
14 暗中送的礼物能平息愤怒，
塞进怀里的贿赂止息盛怒。
15 正义得到伸张，

Proverbs 21

21 Streams of water are the heart[a] of a king in the hand of Yahweh;
wherever[b] he will desire, he will turn.
2 Every way of a man is upright in his own eyes,
but Yahweh weighs hearts.[c]
3 Doing righteousness and justice is more acceptable
to Yahweh than sacrifice.
4 Haughtiness of the eyes and pride of heart,
the lamp of the wicked are sin.
5 The plans of the diligent only lead to abundance,
but all who are hasty, only to want.
6 He who makes treasure by a lying tongue
is a fleeting vapor and seeker[d] of death.
7 The violence of the wicked will sweep them away,
for they refuse to do justice.
8 Crooked is the way of a man and a foreigner,
but the pure is upright in his conduct.
9 Better to dwell on the corner of a roof
than to share a house with a woman[e] of contention.
10 The soul[f] of the wicked desires evil;
his neighbor will not find mercy in his eyes.
11 With the punishment of a scoffer, the simple will become wise,
and with the instruction of the wise, he will obtain knowledge.
12 The righteous observes the house of the wicked;
he throws the wicked to ruin.
13 He who closes his ear from the cry of the poor,
he also will cry out and not be heard.
14 A gift in secret[g] will avert anger,[h]
and a concealed bribe,[i] strong wrath.
15 It is a joy to the righteous to do justice,
but dismay to those who do evil.
16 Whoever wanders from the way of understanding,
in the assembly of the dead[j] he will rest.
17 A man of want is he who loves pleasure;
he who loves wine and oil[k] will not become rich.
18 A ransom for the righteous is the wicked,
and the faithless instead of the upright.
19 Better to live in a land of wilderness
than with a wife of quarrels and provocation.
20 Precious treasure and oil are in the house of the wise,
but the foolish person[l] will devour them.[m]
21 He who pursues righteousness and kindness
will find life, righteousness, and honor.
22 To a city of warriors, the wise ascends,
and he will bring down the stronghold—its object of trust.
23 He who guards his mouth and his tongue,
he guards his life[n] from danger.
24 The proud, haughty one: “scoffer” is his name;
he acts with arrogance of pride.
25 The craving of a lazy person will kill him,
for his hands refuse to work.[o]
26 All day[p] he craves a craving,
but the righteous will give and not hold back.
27 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination;
how much more when he brings it in divisiveness!
28 A false witness will perish,
but a man who listens will testify with[q] success.
29 A wicked man is strong in his countenance,[r]
but the upright will appoint his paths.
30 There is no wisdom, nor understanding,
nor counsel to oppose Yahweh.
31 A horse is prepared for the day of battle,
but to Yahweh belongs the victory.

21 En las manos de Dios
los planes del rey
son como un río:
toman el curso
que Dios quiere darles.

3 Más que recibir ofrendas y sacrificios,
Dios prefiere que se haga justicia
y que se practique la honradez.
4 Hay tres cosas que son pecado:
ser orgulloso,
creerse muy inteligente,
y vivir como un malvado.
5 Cuando las cosas se piensan bien,
el resultado es provechoso.
Cuando se hacen a la carrera,
el resultado es desastroso.
6 Las riquezas que amontona el mentiroso
se desvanecen como el humo;
son una trampa mortal.
7 La violencia destruye a los malvados
porque se niegan a hacer justicia.
8 Quien mal se comporta,
lleva una vida difícil;
quien vive honradamente
lleva una vida sin problemas.
9 Más vale vivir
en un rincón del patio,
que dentro de un palacio
con una persona peleona.
10 El malvado sólo piensa en el mal,
y hasta con sus amigos es malvado.
11 Jóvenes sin experiencia,
acepten el consejo de los sabios,
y aprendan del castigo a los malcriados.
12 Dios es justo, y sabe bien
lo que piensa el malvado;
por eso acaba por destruirlo.
13 Quien no hace caso
de las súplicas del pobre,
un día pedirá ayuda
y nadie se la dará.
14 Un buen regalo calma el enojo,
si se da en el momento oportuno.
15 El hombre honrado es feliz
cuando ve que se hace justicia,
¡pero cómo se asusta el malvado!
16 Quien deja de hacer lo bueno,
pronto termina en la tumba.
17 Quien sólo piensa en fiestas,
en perfumes y en borracheras,
se queda en la pobreza
y jamás llega a rico.
18 Los malvados y ladrones
tendrán que pagar el rescate
de los hombres buenos y honrados.
19 Vale más la soledad
que la vida matrimonial
con una persona agresiva
y de mal genio.
20 En casa del sabio
hay riquezas y perfumes;
en casa del tonto
sólo hay desperdicios.
21 Busca la justicia y el amor,
y encontrarás vida,
justicia y riquezas.
22 Basta un solo sabio
para conquistar una gran ciudad.
23 Quien tiene cuidado de lo que dice
nunca se mete en problemas.
24 Qué bien le queda al orgulloso
que lo llamen «¡malcriado y vanidoso!»
25-26 El perezoso quiere de todo,
lo que no quiere es trabajar.
El hombre honrado siempre da
y no pide nada a cambio.
27 Dios no soporta a los malvados
que le traen ofrendas,
y no son sinceros.
28 El testigo falso será destruido,
pero al testigo verdadero
siempre se le da la palabra.
29 El malvado parece estar muy seguro;
pero sólo el hombre honrado
está seguro de verdad.
30 Reconozcamos que ante Dios,
no hay sabiduría
ni conocimiento,
ni consejos que valgan.
31 A los soldados les toca
preparar sus caballos para el combate;
pero Dios es quien decide
a quién darle la victoria.
