善惡互論垂為箴言
13 智慧子聽父親的教訓，褻慢人不聽責備。 2 人因口所結的果子必享美福，奸詐人必遭強暴。 3 謹守口的得保生命，大張嘴的必致敗亡。 4 懶惰人羨慕卻無所得，殷勤人必得豐裕。 5 義人恨惡謊言，惡人有臭名，且致慚愧。 6 行為正直的有公義保守，犯罪的被邪惡傾覆。 7 假作富足的，卻一無所有；裝作窮乏的，卻廣有財物。 8 人的資財是他生命的贖價，窮乏人卻聽不見威嚇的話。 9 義人的光明亮[a]，惡人的燈要熄滅。 10 驕傲只啟爭競，聽勸言的卻有智慧。 11 不勞而得之財必然消耗，勤勞積蓄的必見加增。 12 所盼望的遲延未得，令人心憂；所願意的臨到，卻是生命樹。 13 藐視訓言的自取滅亡，敬畏誡命的必得善報。 14 智慧人的法則[b]是生命的泉源，可以使人離開死亡的網羅。 15 美好的聰明使人蒙恩，奸詐人的道路崎嶇難行。 16 凡通達人都憑知識行事，愚昧人張揚自己的愚昧。 17 奸惡的使者必陷在禍患裡，忠信的使臣乃醫人的良藥。 18 棄絕管教的必致貧受辱，領受責備的必得尊榮。 19 所欲的成就，心覺甘甜；遠離惡事，為愚昧人所憎惡。 20 與智慧人同行的必得智慧，和愚昧人做伴的必受虧損。 21 禍患追趕罪人，義人必得善報。 22 善人給子孫遺留產業，罪人為義人積存資財。 23 窮人耕種多得糧食，但因不義有消滅的。 24 不忍用杖打兒子的，是恨惡他；疼愛兒子的，隨時管教。 25 義人吃得飽足，惡人肚腹缺糧。

13 A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.
2 A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.
3 He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
4 The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
5 A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.
6 Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.
7 There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.
8 The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.
9 The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
10 Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
11 Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.
12 Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.
13 Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.
14 The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
15 Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard.
16 Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly.
17 A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.
18 Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.
19 The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil.
20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
21 Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed.
22 A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
23 Much food is in the tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment.
24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
25 The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want.
