箴言的價值
1 這是大衛的兒子以色列王所羅門的箴言。
2 為使人認識智慧和教誨，
領悟真知灼見；
3 為使人接受勸誡，
為人處事仁義、公平、正直；
4 使愚昧人明智，
使青年有知識和明辨力；
5 使智者聽了長學問，
明哲聽了得指引；
6 使人領悟箴言和比喻，
明白智者的話和謎語。
7 知識始於敬畏耶和華，
愚人輕視智慧和教誨。
8 孩子啊，
你要聽從父親的教誨，
不可背棄母親的訓言。
9 因為這要作你頭上的華冠，
頸上的項鏈。
10 孩子啊，惡人若引誘你，
千萬不要聽從。
11 他們若說：「跟我們來吧，
我們去埋伏殺人，
暗害無辜者取樂；
12 我們要像陰間一樣生吞他們，
整個吞沒他們，
使他們如墜入墳墓的人；
13 我們必得到各樣寶物，
把戰利品裝滿我們的房屋。
14 跟我們一起幹吧，
大家有福同享！」
15 孩子啊，
不要走他們的道，
切莫行他們的路。
16 因為他們奔向罪惡，
急速地去殺人流血。
17 在飛鳥眼前設網羅，徒勞無功。
18 他們埋伏，卻自流己血；
他們伏擊，卻自害己命。
19 這就是貪愛不義之財者的結局，
不義之財終要奪去他們的性命。
智慧的勸誡
20 智慧在大街上高喊，
在廣場上揚聲，
21 在熱鬧的市集宣告，
在城門口演說：
22 「你們愚昧人喜愛愚昧，
嘲諷者以嘲弄為樂，
無知者厭惡知識，
要到什麼時候呢？
23 你們若因我的責備而回轉，
我就向你們顯明我的旨意[a]，
叫你們明白我的話語。
24 我呼喚你們，
你們卻充耳不聞；
我向你們招手，
你們卻視若無睹。
25 你們漠視我的勸誡，
不接受我的責備。
26 因此，
你們遭遇災難時，
我必發笑；
驚恐臨到你們時，
我必嗤笑——
27 那時，恐懼如風暴襲擊你們，
災難如旋風臨到你們，
憂愁和苦難吞沒你們。
28 你們呼求我，
我也不回答；
你們懇切地尋找我，
卻找不到。
29 因為你們厭惡知識，
不願意敬畏耶和華，
30 不接受我的勸誡，
又藐視我的責備。
31 所以，你們必自食其果，
因自己的惡謀而吃盡苦頭。
32 愚昧人背離正道，
自招滅亡；
愚頑人逍遙自在，
毀掉自己。
33 然而，那聽從我的必安然居住，
得享安寧，
不怕災禍。」

Título y programa
1 Proverbios de Salomón, hijo de David y rey de Israel.
2 Han sido reunidos para conocer sabiduría y educación,
para entender expresiones inteligentes,
3 para adquirir la educación adecuada:
justicia, derecho y honradez;
4 para enseñar agudeza a los ignorantes,
conocimiento y discreción a los jóvenes;
5 —el sabio atiende y aprende más,
el inteligente adquiere maestría—;
6 para entender proverbios y refranes,
los dichos y enigmas de los sabios.
7 Respetar al Señor es el principio del saber,
pero los necios desprecian la sabiduría y la educación.
I.— PRIMERA COLECCIÓN SALOMÓNICA (1,8—9,18)
Sobre las malas compañías
8 Hijo mío, atiende a la educación paterna
y no olvides la enseñanza materna,
9 pues serán corona preciosa en tu cabeza,
collar alrededor de tu cuello.
10 Hijo mío, no consientas
cuando los malvados intenten seducirte.
11 Tal vez te digan: “Acompáñanos
a poner trampas mortales
asaltando a inocentes por diversión.
12 Nos los tragaremos vivos como el abismo,
enteros como los que caen al hoyo.
13 Conseguiremos un montón de riquezas
y llenaremos nuestras casas de despojos.
14 Comparte tu suerte con nosotros
y haremos un fondo común”.
15 Hijo mío, no sigas sus caminos
y aleja tus pasos de sus sendas,
16 porque corren disparados hacia el mal
y van decididos a derramar sangre.
17 ¿No ves que es inútil poner trampas
a la vista de los pájaros?
18 Se ponen emboscadas a sí mismos,
atentan contra su propia vida.
19 Ese es el destino de la avaricia:
quienes la practican no viven.
Primer pregón de la sabiduría
20 La sabiduría pregona por las calles,
alza su voz en las plazas;
21 grita por encima del tumulto,
ante las puertas de la ciudad anuncia su pregón:
22 “¿Hasta cuándo los ingenuos amarán la ingenuidad,
los insolentes disfrutarán con la insolencia,
los necios odiarán el saber?
23 Atiendan a mis advertencias:
les transmitiré mi espíritu
y les explicaré mis dichos.
24 Los llamé y no hicieron caso,
les tendí la mano y nadie atendió;
25 despreciaron todos mis consejos
y rechazaron mis advertencias.
26 También yo me reiré de su desgracia,
me burlaré cuando los invada el pavor;
27 cuando les llegue como huracán el terror,
cuando les sobrevenga la desgracia como vendaval,
cuando les lleguen los problemas y la angustia.
28 Entonces me llamarán y no responderé,
me buscarán y no me encontrarán.
29 Porque odiaron el saber
y no quisieron respetar al Señor;
30 porque no aceptaron mis consejos
y despreciaron mis advertencias,
31 se comerán los frutos de su conducta
y quedarán hartos de sus planes.
32 Su propia rebeldía matará a los ingenuos
y la autosatisfacción perderá a los insensatos.
33 Pero el que me preste atención vivirá seguro”.

Motivo de los proverbios
1 Los proverbios de Salomón,(A) hijo de David, rey de Israel.
2 Para entender sabiduría y doctrina,
Para conocer razones prudentes,
3 Para recibir el consejo de prudencia,
Justicia, juicio y equidad;
4 Para dar sagacidad a los simples,
Y a los jóvenes inteligencia y cordura.
5 Oirá el sabio, y aumentará el saber,
Y el entendido adquirirá consejo,
6 Para entender proverbio y declaración,
Palabras de sabios, y sus dichos profundos.
7 El principio de la sabiduría es el temor de Jehová;(B)
Los insensatos desprecian la sabiduría y la enseñanza.
Amonestaciones de la Sabiduría
8 Oye, hijo mío, la instrucción de tu padre,
Y no desprecies la dirección de tu madre;
9 Porque adorno de gracia serán a tu cabeza,
Y collares a tu cuello.
10 Hijo mío, si los pecadores te quisieren engañar,
No consientas.
11 Si dijeren: Ven con nosotros;
Pongamos asechanzas para derramar sangre,
Acechemos sin motivo al inocente;
12 Los tragaremos vivos como el Seol,
Y enteros, como los que caen en un abismo;
13 Hallaremos riquezas de toda clase,
Llenaremos nuestras casas de despojos;
14 Echa tu suerte entre nosotros;
Tengamos todos una bolsa.
15 Hijo mío, no andes en camino con ellos.
Aparta tu pie de sus veredas,
16 Porque sus pies corren hacia el mal,
Y van presurosos a derramar sangre.
17 Porque en vano se tenderá la red
Ante los ojos de toda ave;
18 Pero ellos a su propia sangre ponen asechanzas,
Y a sus almas tienden lazo.
19 Tales son las sendas de todo el que es dado a la codicia,
La cual quita la vida de sus poseedores.
20 La sabiduría clama en las calles,
Alza su voz en las plazas;
21 Clama en los principales lugares de reunión;
En las entradas de las puertas de la ciudad dice sus razones.(C)
22 ¿Hasta cuándo, oh simples, amaréis la simpleza,
Y los burladores desearán el burlar,
Y los insensatos aborrecerán la ciencia?
23 Volveos a mi reprensión;
He aquí yo derramaré mi espíritu sobre vosotros,
Y os haré saber mis palabras.
24 Por cuanto llamé, y no quisisteis oír,
Extendí mi mano, y no hubo quien atendiese,
25 Sino que desechasteis todo consejo mío
Y mi reprensión no quisisteis,
26 También yo me reiré en vuestra calamidad,
Y me burlaré cuando os viniere lo que teméis;
27 Cuando viniere como una destrucción lo que teméis,
Y vuestra calamidad llegare como un torbellino;
Cuando sobre vosotros viniere tribulación y angustia.
28 Entonces me llamarán, y no responderé;
Me buscarán de mañana, y no me hallarán.
29 Por cuanto aborrecieron la sabiduría,
Y no escogieron el temor de Jehová,
30 Ni quisieron mi consejo,
Y menospreciaron toda reprensión mía,
31 Comerán del fruto de su camino,
Y serán hastiados de sus propios consejos.
32 Porque el desvío de los ignorantes los matará,
Y la prosperidad de los necios los echará a perder;
33 Mas el que me oyere, habitará confiadamente
Y vivirá tranquilo, sin temor del mal.

1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;
2 To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;
3 To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;
4 To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.
5 A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:
6 To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
8 My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
9 For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.
10 My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
11 If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:
12 Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:
13 We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:
14 Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:
15 My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:
16 For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.
17 Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.
18 And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.
19 So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.
20 Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:
21 She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,
22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord:
30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
32 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
33 But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
