8 “我今日吩咐你的一切誡命，你們要謹守遵行，使你們可以存活，人數增加，並且可以進去得著耶和華向你們的列祖起誓應許的那地。 2 你也要記念耶和華你的 神這四十年在曠野引導你的一切路程，為要使你受苦，要試煉你，要知道你心裡怎樣，看看你肯守他的誡命不肯。 3 他使你受苦，任你飢餓，把你和你的列祖不認識的嗎哪賜給你吃，使你知道人活著，不是單靠食物，更要靠耶和華口裡所出的一切話。 4 這四十年來，你身上的衣服沒有穿破，你的腳也沒有腫起來。 5 因此你心裡要明白，耶和華你的 神管教你，好像人管教他的兒子一樣。 6 所以你要謹守耶和華你的 神的誡命，遵行他的道路，敬畏他。 7 因為耶和華你的 神快要領你進入那美地；那地有河流，有泉，有源，水從谷中和山上流出來； 8 那地有小麥、大麥、葡萄樹、無花果樹、石榴樹；那地有橄欖樹、油和蜜； 9 你在那地必不缺乏食物，在那裡你必一無所缺；那地的石頭就是鐵；從那裡的山上，你可以挖出銅來。 10 你吃飽了，就要稱頌耶和華你的 神，因為他把那美地賜了給你。
11 “你要自己謹慎，免得忘記耶和華你的 神，不守他的誡命、典章、律例，就是我今日吩咐你的； 12 恐怕你吃飽了，建造美好的房屋居住， 13 你的牛羊加多，你的金銀增添，你所有的一切都增加了， 14 那時，你就心高氣傲，忘記了耶和華你的 神，就是把你從埃及地，從為奴之家領出來的那一位。 15 他引導你走過那大而可畏的曠野，那裡有火蛇，有蠍子，有乾旱無水之地；他曾經為你使水從堅硬的磐石中流出來。 16 他在曠野把你的列祖不認識的嗎哪賜給你吃，是要使你受苦，要試煉你，使你終久得到福樂； 17 恐怕你心裡說：‘這財富是我的力量，是我手的能力使我得著的。’ 18 你要記念耶和華你的 神，因為得財富的能力是他賜給你的，為要堅定他向你的列祖起誓所立的約，像今天一樣。 19 如果將來你真的忘記了耶和華你的 神，去隨從別的神，事奉和敬拜他們，你們必定滅亡，這是我今日警告你們的。 20 耶和華從你們面前怎樣使萬國的民滅亡，你們也必照樣滅亡，因為你們沒有聽從耶和華你們 神的話。”

8 »Vous respecterez et mettrez en pratique tous les commandements que je vous prescris aujourd'hui afin de vivre, de devenir nombreux et d’entrer en possession du pays que l'Eternel a juré de donner à vos ancêtres. 2 Souviens-toi de tout le chemin que l'Eternel, ton Dieu, t'a fait faire pendant ces 40 années dans le désert. Il voulait t'humilier et te mettre à l'épreuve pour connaître les dispositions de ton cœur et savoir si tu respecterais ou non ses commandements. 3 Il t'a humilié, il t'a fait connaître la faim et il t'a nourri de la manne, que tu ne connaissais pas et que tes ancêtres non plus n'avaient pas connue, afin de t'apprendre que *l'homme ne vit pas de pain seulement, mais de tout ce qui sort de la bouche de l'Eternel[a]. 4 Pendant ces 40 années, ton vêtement ne s'est pas usé sur toi et ton pied n’a pas enflé. 5 Reconnais dans ton cœur que l'Eternel, ton Dieu, t’éduque comme un homme éduque son enfant.
6 »Tu respecteras les commandements de l'Eternel, ton Dieu, pour marcher dans ses voies et pour le craindre. 7 En effet, l'Eternel, ton Dieu, va te faire entrer dans un bon pays. C’est un pays de cours d'eau, de sources et de lacs qui jaillissent dans les vallées et dans les montagnes; 8 un pays de blé, d'orge, de vignes, de figuiers et de grenadiers; un pays d'oliviers et de miel; 9 un pays où tu mangeras du pain avec abondance, où tu ne manqueras de rien; un pays dont les pierres sont du fer et où tu pourras extraire le cuivre des montagnes. 10 Lorsque tu mangeras à satiété, tu béniras l'Eternel, ton Dieu, pour le bon pays qu'il t'a donné. 11 Veille bien à ne pas oublier l'Eternel, ton Dieu, au point de ne pas respecter ses commandements, ses règles et ses prescriptions, que je te donne aujourd'hui. 12 Lorsque tu mangeras à satiété, lorsque tu construiras et habiteras de belles maisons, 13 lorsque tu verras ton gros et ton petit bétail se multiplier, ton argent et ton or augmenter et tout ce qui est à toi se développer, 14 attention! Ne laisse pas ton cœur s'enorgueillir et n'oublie pas l'Eternel, ton Dieu. C’est lui qui t'a fait sortir d'Egypte, de la maison d'esclavage, 15 qui t'a fait marcher dans ce grand et affreux désert où il y a des serpents brûlants et des scorpions, dans des endroits arides et sans eau, et qui a fait jaillir pour toi de l'eau du rocher le plus dur, 16 qui t'a fait manger dans le désert la manne, inconnue de tes ancêtres, afin de t'humilier et de te mettre à l'épreuve pour te faire ensuite du bien. 17 Fais bien attention à ne pas dire dans ton cœur: ‘C’est ma force et la puissance de ma main qui m'ont permis d’acquérir ces richesses.’ 18 Souviens-toi de l'Eternel, ton Dieu, car c'est lui qui te donnera de la force pour les acquérir afin de confirmer, comme il le fait aujourd'hui, son alliance qu'il a conclue avec tes ancêtres en prêtant serment.
19 »Si tu oublies l'Eternel, ton Dieu, et suis d'autres dieux, si tu les sers et te prosternes devant eux, je vous avertis expressément aujourd'hui que vous périrez. 20 Vous périrez comme les nations que l'Eternel fait disparaître devant vous, parce que vous n'aurez pas écouté l'Eternel, votre Dieu.

Remember the Lord
8 Carefully obey every command I give you today. Then you will live and ·grow in number [multiply], and you will enter and ·take [possess] the land the Lord promised your ·ancestors [fathers; Gen. 12:1–3; 15:17–20]. 2 Remember ·how the Lord your God has led [all the way the Lord brought] you in the ·desert [wilderness] for these forty years, ·taking away your pride [humbling you] and testing you, because he wanted to know what was in your heart. He wanted to know if you would obey his commands. 3 He ·took away your pride [humbled you] when he let you get hungry, and then he fed you with manna [Ex. 16:31–36], which neither you nor your ·ancestors [fathers] had ever seen. This was to teach you that a person does not live on bread alone, but by everything the Lord says [Matt. 4:4]. 4 During these forty years, your clothes did not wear out, and your feet did not swell. 5 Know in your heart that the Lord your God ·corrects [instructs; disciplines] you as a parent ·corrects [instructs; disciplines] a child.
6 Obey the commands of the Lord your God, ·living as he has commanded you [L going in his way] and ·respecting [fearing] him. 7 The Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land with ·rivers [wadis] and pools of water, with ·springs [deeps; underground water] that flow in the valleys and hills, 8 a land that has wheat and barley, vines, fig trees, pomegranates, olive oil, and honey. 9 It is a land where you will have ·plenty of food [L no scarcity of food/bread], where you will have everything you need, where the rocks are iron, and where you can ·dig [mine] copper out of the hills.
10 When you ·have all you want to eat [L eat and are satisfied], then ·praise [bless] the Lord your God for giving you a good land. 11 Be careful not to forget the Lord your God so that you ·fail to obey [do not keep] his commands, laws, and ·rules [statutes; ordinances; requirements] that I am giving to you today. 12 When you eat ·all you want [L and are satisfied] and build nice houses and live in them, 13 when your herds and flocks ·grow large [multiply] and your silver and gold ·increase [multiply], ·when you have more of everything [and all you have multiplies], 14 then your heart will ·become proud [L be lifted up/exalted]. You will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, ·where you were slaves [L from the house of bondage]. 15 He led you through the ·large [vast] and ·terrible [awesome] ·desert [wilderness] that was dry and had no water, and that had ·poisonous [L burning] snakes and stinging insects. He gave you water from a ·solid [or flint] rock [Ex. 17:1–7] 16 and manna to eat in the ·desert [wilderness; Ex. 16:31–36]. Manna was something your ·ancestors [fathers] had never seen. He did this to ·take away your pride [humble you] and to test you, so things would go well for you in the end. 17 You might say ·to yourself [L in your heart/mind], “I am rich because of ·my own power and strength [L the power and strength of my hand; Ps. 30:6–7],” 18 but remember the Lord your God! It is he who gives you the power to become rich, keeping the ·agreement [covenant; treaty] he promised to your ·ancestors [fathers], as it is today.
19 If you ever forget the Lord your God and ·follow [L go after] other gods and ·worship [serve] them and bow down to them, I ·warn you [testify/witness to you] today that you will be destroyed. 20 Just as the Lord destroyed the other nations for you, you can be destroyed if you do not ·obey [L listen to the voice of] the Lord your God.
