15 “每逢第七年末，你们要免除他人的债务。 2 你们要这样做，所有债主都要免除同胞所欠的债务，不可向他们追讨，因为宣布免除债务的是耶和华。 3 你们可以向外族人讨债，但无论同胞欠你什么债务，都要免除。 4-5 只要你们听从你们上帝耶和华的话，谨遵我今天吩咐你们的诫命，祂必使你们在这片祂赐给你们作产业的土地上蒙福，你们中间不会有穷人。 6 你们的上帝耶和华必照祂的应许赐福给你们，你们必借贷给多国，却不需要向他们借贷。你们必统治多国，却不被他们统治。

7 “在进入你们的上帝耶和华将要赐给你们的土地后，如果你们居住的城中有贫穷的同胞，你们不可硬着心肠拒施援手。 8 他们所需要的，你们要慷慨地借给他们。 9 你们要谨慎，不可因为免除债务的第七年将近，就心怀恶念，对贫穷同胞冷眼相待，拒施援手。否则，他会求告耶和华，那时你们便有罪了。 10 你们要慷慨给予，并且无怨无悔，因为耶和华必在你们所做的一切事上赐福给你们。 11 你们居住的地方总会有穷人，所以我吩咐你们要慷慨地帮助贫穷或有需要的同胞。

12 “如果你们的希伯来同胞，不论男女，卖身给你们做奴隶，他们要服侍你们六年，到第七年，你们要给他们自由。 13 你们不可让他们空手离去， 14 要慷慨地把你们的上帝耶和华赐给你们的羊、五谷和酒分给他们。 15 要记住，你们曾在埃及做奴隶，你们的上帝耶和华拯救了你们。所以，我今天吩咐你们这样做。 16 如果你们的奴隶因为爱你们和你们的家人，与你们相处融洽，不愿意离去， 17 你们就要让他靠在门上，用锥子在他耳朵上扎个洞，他便终身成为你们的奴隶。对待婢女也要这样。 18 你们释放奴隶时，不要不情愿，因为他们服侍你们六年，所做的是普通雇工的两倍。而且，你们的上帝耶和华也会在你们所做的一切事上赐福给你们。

头生的牛羊

19 “你们要把头生的公牛和公羊分别出来，献给你们的上帝耶和华。不可用头生的公牛耕田，也不要剪头生公羊的毛。 20 每年，你们全家要去你们的上帝耶和华选定的地方，在祂面前吃这些头生的牛羊。 21 如果这些牛羊有什么残疾，如瘸腿、瞎眼或其他残疾，就不可献给你们的上帝耶和华。 22 要在你们的城里吃这些牛羊。洁净的人和不洁净的人都可以吃，就像吃羚羊和鹿一样。 23 但不可吃它们的血，要把血倒在地上，像倒水一样。

빚을 면제해 주는 특별한 해

15 너희는 매 칠 년 끝에 빚진 자의 빚을 면제해 주어야 한다. 2 면제에 대한 규정은 다음과 같다. 누구든지 동족인 이스라엘 사람에게 돈을 꾸어 준 사람은 그 빚을 면제해 주어라. 그는 동족인 이스라엘 사람이나 형제에게 빚을 갚으라고 요구하여서는 안 된다. 빚을 면제해 주라는 주의 해가 선포되었기 때문이다. 3 외국 사람에게는 빚을 갚으라고 요구할 수 있으나, 형제가 너희에게 진 빚은 모두 면제해 주어야 한다. 4 그러나 주 너희 하나님께서 너희에게 유산으로 주시는 땅에서 너희에게 큰 복을 내리실 것이기 때문에, 너희 가운데서는 가난한 사람이 없을 것이다. 5 너희가 주 너희 하나님께 온전히 순종하고 내가 오늘 너희에게 전하는 이 모든 명령을 잘 지켜야만 그렇게 될 것이다. 6 그러면 주께서 약속하신 대로 너희에게 복을 주셔서, 너희는 여러 민족에게 꾸어는 주겠으나 결코 누구에게서 꾸는 일은 없을 것이다. 또 너희가 여러 민족을 다스리겠으나 어느 누구의 다스림을 받는 일은 없을 것이다.

7 주께서 너희에게 주시는 땅의 어느 한 성읍에라도 가난한 형제가 있거든, 너희는 결코 그 형제에게 인색하게 굴지 말아라. 그 가난한 형제에게 베풀지 않으려고 너희의 손을 오므리지 말아라. 8 오히려 손을 펴서 그 사람에게 필요한 것은 무엇이든지 꾸어 주어라.

9 너희는 ‘빚을 면제해 주는 일곱 번째 해가 가까웠구나.’ 하며 마음에 악한 생각을 품고, 가난한 너희 형제에게 아무런 도움도 베풀지 않는 일이 없도록 하여라. 그가 너를 걸어 주께 호소하면 너희는 죄인이 될 것이다.

10 그에게 아낌없이 베풀 되 아까워하는 마음으로 하지 말아라. 그렇게 하면 주 너희 하나님께서 너희가 하는 모든 일과 손을 대는 모든 일에 복을 내려 주실 것이다. 11 그렇다 하더라도 너희가 사는 땅에 언제나 가난한 사람이 있을 것이다. 그래서 너희 땅에 사는 가난하고 궁핍한 형제에게 손을 펴서 도와주라고 명하는 것이다.

종을 놓아 보내는 법

12 너희의 동족인 히브리 사람이 남자든지 여자든지 너희에게 팔려 와서 여섯 해 동안 너희를 섬겼거든, 일곱째 해에는 그 사람에게 자유를 주어 내보내야 한다. 13 자유를 주어 내보낼 때에는 빈손으로 내보내지 말아라. 14 너희의 양 떼와 타작마당과 포도주틀에서 얻은 것을 그에게 넉넉하게 주어서 내보내야 한다. 주 너희 하나님께서 너희에게 축복하시는 대로 그 사람에게 나누어 주어라. 15 너희도 한 때 이집트 땅에서 종살이 하였다는 것과 주 너희 하나님께서 너희를 거기에서 구해내셨다는 것을 기억하여라. 내가 오늘 이 명령을 너희에게 주는 것은 바로 그 때문이다.

16 그러나 그 종이 너와 네 가족을 사랑하고 너와 함께 있는 것을 좋아하여, ‘저는 주인님을 떠나고 싶지 않습니다.’라고 말할지도 모른다. 17 그러면 너는 그의 귀를 문에 대고 송곳으로 그의 귓불을 뚫어라. 그러면 그는 평생 너의 종이 될 것이다. 네 여종에게도 이와 꼭 같이 하여라.

18 네 종에게 자유를 주어 내보내는 것을 언짢게 여기지 말아라. 그들이 여섯 해 동안 너를 섬기며 한 일은, 품팔이꾼이 품삯을 받으며 한 일의 두 배는 되기 때문이다. 네가 그렇게 하면 주 너의 하나님께서 네가 하는 모든 일에 복을 주실 것이다.

19 너는 소나 양의 처음 난 수컷은 주 너의 하나님을 위하여 구별하여야 한다. 처음 난 송아지는 일을 시키지 말고, 처음 난 양은 그 털을 깎지 말아라. 20 해마다 너와 네 가족은 주께서 택하시는 곳으로 가서 주 너의 하나님 앞에서 그것들을 먹어야 한다.

21 그러나 그 짐승이 다리를 절거나, 눈이 멀었거나, 그밖에 무슨 큰 흠이 있으면 그것을 주 너의 하나님께 희생제물로 바쳐서는 안 된다. 22 너는 그것을 네가 사는 성읍에서 먹어야 한다. 정한 사람이든지 부정한 사람이든지 노루나 사슴을 잡아먹듯이 그것을 먹어도 좋다. 23 그러나 피를 먹어서는 안 된다. 피는 물을 붓듯이 땅 위에 쏟아 버려라.

The Year for Canceling Debts(A)

15 At the end of every seven years you must cancel debts.(B) 2 This is how it is to be done: Every creditor shall cancel any loan they have made to a fellow Israelite. They shall not require payment from anyone among their own people, because the Lord’s time for canceling debts has been proclaimed. 3 You may require payment from a foreigner,(C) but you must cancel any debt your fellow Israelite owes you. 4 However, there need be no poor people among you, for in the land the Lord your God is giving you to possess as your inheritance, he will richly bless(D) you, 5 if only you fully obey the Lord your God and are careful to follow(E) all these commands I am giving you today. 6 For the Lord your God will bless you as he has promised, and you will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. You will rule over many nations but none will rule over you.(F)

7 If anyone is poor(G) among your fellow Israelites in any of the towns of the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted(H) toward them. 8 Rather, be openhanded(I) and freely lend them whatever they need. 9 Be careful not to harbor this wicked thought: “The seventh year, the year for canceling debts,(J) is near,” so that you do not show ill will(K) toward the needy among your fellow Israelites and give them nothing. They may then appeal to the Lord against you, and you will be found guilty of sin.(L) 10 Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart;(M) then because of this the Lord your God will bless(N) you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to. 11 There will always be poor people(O) in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your fellow Israelites who are poor and needy in your land.(P)

Freeing Servants(Q)(R)

12 If any of your people—Hebrew men or women—sell themselves to you and serve you six years, in the seventh year you must let them go free.(S) 13 And when you release them, do not send them away empty-handed. 14 Supply them liberally from your flock, your threshing floor(T) and your winepress. Give to them as the Lord your God has blessed you. 15 Remember that you were slaves(U) in Egypt and the Lord your God redeemed you.(V) That is why I give you this command today.

16 But if your servant says to you, “I do not want to leave you,” because he loves you and your family and is well off with you, 17 then take an awl and push it through his earlobe into the door, and he will become your servant for life. Do the same for your female servant.

18 Do not consider it a hardship to set your servant free, because their service to you these six years has been worth twice as much as that of a hired hand. And the Lord your God will bless you in everything you do.

The Firstborn Animals

19 Set apart for the Lord(W) your God every firstborn male(X) of your herds and flocks.(Y) Do not put the firstborn of your cows to work, and do not shear the firstborn of your sheep.(Z) 20 Each year you and your family are to eat them in the presence of the Lord your God at the place he will choose.(AA) 21 If an animal has a defect,(AB) is lame or blind, or has any serious flaw, you must not sacrifice it to the Lord your God.(AC) 22 You are to eat it in your own towns. Both the ceremonially unclean and the clean may eat it, as if it were gazelle or deer.(AD) 23 But you must not eat the blood; pour it out on the ground like water.(AE)

15 “At the end of seven years you shall grant a remission of debt. 2 And this is the manner of the remission of debt: every creditor[a] shall remit his claim that he holds against his neighbor, and he shall not exact payment from his brother because there[b] a remission of debt has been proclaimed unto[c] Yahweh. 3 With respect to the foreigner you may exact payment, but you must remit[d] what shall be owed to you with respect to your brother. 4 Nevertheless, there[e] shall not be among you a poor person, because Yahweh will certainly bless you in the land that Yahweh your God is giving to you as an inheritance, to take possession of it. 5 If only you listen well to the voice of Yahweh your God by observing diligently[f] all of these commandments[g] that I am commanding you today.[h] 6 When Yahweh your God has blessed you, just as he promised[i] to you, then you will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow from them, and you will rule over many nations, but they will not rule over you. 7 If there is a poor person among you from among one of your brothers in one of your towns[j] that Yahweh your God is giving to you, you shall not harden your heart, and you shall not shut your hand toward your brother who is poor.[k] 8 But you shall certainly open your hand for him, and you shall willingly lend[l] to him enough to meet his need, whatever it is.[m] 9 Take care[n] so that there[o] will not be a thought of wickedness[p] in your heart, saying,[q] ‘The seventh year, the year of the remission of debt is near,’ and you view your needy neighbor with hostility,[r] and so you do not give to him, and he might cry out against you to Yahweh, and you would incur guilt against yourself.[s] 10 By all means you must give to him, and you must not be discontented[t] at your giving to him, because on account of this very thing, Yahweh your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you undertake.[u] 11 For the poor[v] will not cease to be among you[w] in the land; therefore I am commanding you, saying,[x] ‘You shall willingly open your hand to your brother, to your needy and to your poor that are in your land.’

12 If your relative[y] who is a Hebrew man or a Hebrew woman is sold to you, and he or she has served you six years, then in the seventh year you shall send that person out free.[z] 13 And when you send him out free from you, you shall not send him away empty-handed. 14 You shall generously supply him from among your flocks and from your threshing floor and from your press; according to that with which Yahweh your God has blessed you, you shall give to him. 15 And remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and Yahweh your God redeemed you; therefore I am commanding you thus today.[aa] 16 And then if it will happen that he says to you, ‘I do not want to go out[ab] from you,’ because he loves you and your family, because it is good for him to be with you; 17 then you shall take an awl, and you shall thrust it through his earlobe and into the door, and he shall be to you a slave forever;[ac] and you shall also do likewise for your slave woman. 18 It shall not be hard in your eyes when you send him forth free,[ad] because for six years he has served you worth twice the wage of a hired worker; and Yahweh your God will bless you in whatever you will do.[ae]

19 “Every firstling male that is born of your herd and of your flock you shall consecrate to Yahweh your God; you shall not do work with the firstling of your ox, and you shall not shear the firstling of your flock. 20 Rather before Yahweh[af] your God you shall eat it year by year at the place Yahweh will choose, you and your household. 21 But if there is a physical defect in it, such as lameness or blindness, any serious defect, you shall not sacrifice it to Yahweh your God. 22 In your towns[ag] you shall eat it, the unclean and the clean together may eat it, just as they eat the gazelle and as they eat the deer. 23 But you shall not eat its blood; you shall pour it on the ground like water.”
