2 祭司們啊，這誡命是傳給你們的。 2 萬軍之耶和華說：「如果你們不聽從我的話，也不從內心尊崇我的名，我必使咒詛臨到你們，把你們的福氣變成咒詛。事實上，因為你們不把我的誡命放在心上，我已經咒詛了你們。 3 我必斥責你們的子孫，把你們祭牲的糞便抹在你們臉上，又把你們和糞便一同丟掉， 4 你們便知道我這樣告誡你們，是為了維持我與你們祖先利未所立的約。這是萬軍之耶和華說的。 5 我與他所立的是生命和平安之約，我將生命和平安賜給他，使他心存敬畏。他就尊崇我，敬畏我的名。 6 他口中教導真理，嘴裡毫無詭詐。他與我同行，過著平安正直的生活，並引導許多人遠離罪惡。 7 祭司的嘴唇應持守知識，人民應從他口中尋求訓誨，因為他是萬軍之耶和華的使者。 8 然而，你們卻偏離正道，你們的教導使許多人跌倒，破壞了我和利未所立的約。」這是萬軍之耶和華說的。 9 「因此，我必使你們在眾人面前遭藐視、輕賤。因為你們不遵守我的道，在教導上偏心待人。」
10 難道我們不是出於同一位父親，由同一位上帝所造嗎？為何我們竟彼此欺騙，背棄上帝與我們祖先所立的約呢？ 11 猶大人不忠貞，在以色列和耶路撒冷做了可憎的事，他們娶信奉外邦神明的女子為妻，褻瀆了耶和華所愛的聖所。 12 願耶和華從雅各的帳篷中剷除所有做這事並獻供物給萬軍之耶和華的人！
13 另外，你們哀哭悲歎，眼淚甚至淹沒了耶和華的祭壇，因為耶和華不再理會你們的供物，不再悅納你們所獻的。 14 你們還問為什麼。因為耶和華在你和你的髮妻中間作證，她是你的配偶，是你盟約的妻子，你卻對她不忠。 15 上帝不是把你們結合為一體，叫你們肉體和心靈都歸祂嗎[a]？祂為何這樣做？是為了得敬虔的後裔。所以，你們要小心謹慎，不可對自己的髮妻不忠。 16 以色列的上帝耶和華說：「我憎惡休妻和以暴虐待妻子的人。所以要守護你們的心，不可有不忠的行為。」這是萬軍之耶和華說的。 17 你們說的話使耶和華厭煩，然而，你們還說：「我們在何事上令祂厭煩呢？」因為你們說：「耶和華將所有作惡者視為好人，並且喜悅他們」，還說：「公義的上帝在哪裡？」

Rules for Priests
2 “Priests, this ·command [warning] is for you. 2 Listen to me. Pay attention to what I say. Honor my name,” says the Lord ·All-Powerful [Almighty; of Heaven’s Armies; T of hosts]. “If you don’t, I will send a curse on you and on your blessings. I have already cursed them, because you don’t ·pay attention to what I say [take my warning to heart].
3 “I will ·punish [discipline; rebuke] your descendants. I will smear your faces with ·the animal insides [offal; entrails; or dung] left from your feasts, and you will be thrown away with it. 4 Then you will know that I am giving you this ·command [warning] so my ·agreement [covenant; treaty] with Levi will continue,” says the Lord ·All-Powerful [Almighty; of Heaven’s Armies; T of hosts]. 5 “My ·agreement [covenant; treaty] with ·the Levites [L him; C Levi] was to bring life and peace so they would ·honor [fear] me. And they did ·honor [fear] me and ·fear me [L stood in awe of my name; Prov. 1:7]. 6 ·They taught the true teachings [True law/instruction/L Torah was in his mouth] and ·spoke no lies [no iniquity was found on his lips]. With peace and ·honesty [integrity] they ·did what I said they should do [walked with me], and they kept many people from sinning.
7 “·A priest [L The lips of a priest] should ·teach what he knows [preserve/guard knowledge; Deut. 33:10], and people should ·learn the teachings [seek instruction] from ·him [L his mouth], because he is the messenger of the Lord ·All-Powerful [Almighty; of Heaven’s Armies; T of hosts]. 8 But you priests have ·stopped obeying me [L turned from the way/path]. With your teachings you have caused many people to ·do wrong [stumble]. You have ·broken [corrupted] the ·agreement [covenant; treaty] with ·the tribe of Levi [L Levi]!” says the Lord ·All-Powerful [Almighty; of Heaven’s Armies; T of hosts]. 9 “You have not been careful to ·do what I say [follow my ways/paths], but instead you ·take sides [show favoritism/partiality] in ·court [legal] cases. So I have caused you to be ·hated [despised] and ·disgraced [humiliated] in front of everybody.”
Judah Was Not Loyal to God
10 ·We all have the same [L Do we not have one….?] father; the ·same [one] God created us. So why do people ·break their promises to [betray] each other and ·show no respect for [profane; defile] the ·agreement [covenant; treaty] our ·ancestors [fathers] made with God [Ex. 19–24]? 11 ·The people of Judah [L Judah] have ·broken their promises [been unfaithful]. They have done ·something God hates [an abomination/detestable thing] in Israel and Jerusalem: ·The people of Judah [L Judah] ·did not respect [desecrated] the ·Temple [sanctuary; or holy things] that the Lord loves, and the men of Judah married ·women who worship [L the daughter of] foreign gods. 12 Whoever does this might bring offerings to the Lord ·All-Powerful [Almighty; of Heaven’s Armies; T of hosts], but the Lord will still cut that person off from the ·community of Israel [L tents of Jacob].
13 This is another thing you do. You cover the Lord’s altar with your tears. You ·cry [weep] and moan, because he does not ·accept [look with favor on] your offerings and is not pleased with what you bring. 14 You ask, “Why?” It is because the Lord ·sees how you treated [L is the witness between you and] the wife ·you married when you were young [L of your youth]. You ·broke your promise [have been unfaithful] to her, even though she was your partner and ·you had an agreement with her [your wife by solemn covenant]. 15 ·God made [L Did not God make…?] husbands and wives to become one body and one spirit for his purpose—so they would have ·children who are true to God [godly offspring].
So ·be careful [L guard yourself in your spirit], and do not ·break your promise [be unfaithful] to the wife ·you married when you were young [L of your youth].
16 The Lord God of Israel says, “·I hate divorce. And I hate the person who [or The one who hates and divorces] ·does cruel things as easily as he puts on clothes [L covers his clothes in violence],” says the Lord ·All-Powerful [Almighty; of Heaven’s Armies; T of hosts].
So be ·careful [on your guard]. And do not ·break your trust [be unfaithful].
The Special Day of Judging
17 You have ·tired [wearied] the Lord with your words.
You ask, “How have we ·tired [wearied] him?”
You did it by saying, “·The Lord thinks [L In the Lord’s eyes] anyone who does evil is good, and he is pleased with them.” Or you asked, “Where is the God ·who is fair [of justice]?”

2 1-2 Sinabi pa ng Panginoong Makapangyarihan sa mga pari, “Ito ang aking babala sa inyo: Kung hindi ninyo pakikinggan ang sinasabi ko at hindi ninyo pahahalagahan ang pagpaparangal sa akin, susumpain ko kayo, pati na ang mga pagpapalang tinatanggap ninyo bilang mga pari.[a] Sa katunayan, ginawa ko na iyan dahil hindi ninyo pinahahalagahan ang pagpaparangal sa akin.
3 “Makinig kayo! Dahil sa inyo, parurusahan ko ang inyong mga lahi. Isasaboy ko sa inyong mukha ang dumi ng mga hayop na inyong inihahandog at itatapon din kayo sa tapunan ng mga dumi. 4 Dapat ninyong malaman na binabalaan ko kayo upang magpatuloy ang aking kasunduan sa inyong ninunong si Levi. 5 Sa aking kasunduan kay Levi, ipinangako ko sa kanya ang buhay[b] at kapayapaan, basta igalang lamang niya ako. At iyan nga ang kanyang ginawa. 6 Itinuro niya ang katotohanan at hindi ang kasinungalingan. Maayos ang kanyang relasyon sa akin at namuhay siya nang matuwid. At tinulungan niya ang maraming tao upang huwag nang gumawa ng kasalanan.
7 “Sa katunayan, tungkulin ninyong mga pari na turuan ang mga tao, na malaman nila ang tungkol sa akin. At dapat naman silang magpaturo sa inyo, dahil mga sugo ko kayo. 8 Pero hindi ninyo sinunod ang aking mga pamamaraan. Ang mga turo ninyo ang nagtulak sa marami para magkasala. Ako, ang Panginoong Makapangyarihan, ang nagsasabing, sinira nʼyo ang kasunduan ko sa ninuno ninyong si Levi. 9 Kaya ipinahamak at ipinahiya ko kayo sa lahat ng tao dahil hindi ninyo sinunod ang aking mga pamamaraan, at may kinikilingan kayo sa inyong pagtuturo.”
Hindi Naging Tapat ang mga Israelita
10 Sinabi ni Malakias sa mga Israelita: Hindi baʼt iisa ang ating ama?[c] At iisang Dios ang lumalang sa atin? Bakit hindi tayo nagiging tapat sa isaʼt isa? Sa ginagawa nating ito, binabalewala natin ang kasunduan ng Dios sa ating mga ninuno.
11 Naging taksil ang mga taga-Juda. Gumawa sila ng kasuklam-suklam sa Jerusalem at sa buong bansa ng Israel. Sapagkat dinungisan nila ang templo[d] na mahal ng Panginoon sa pamamagitan ng pagpapakasal sa mga babaeng sumasamba sa ibang mga dios. 12 Huwag na sanang ituring na kabilang sa mga mamamayan ng Israel ang mga taong gumagawa nito, pati na ang mga anak nila at mga apo,[e] kahit na maghandog pa sila sa Panginoong Makapangyarihan.
13 Ito pa ang inyong ginagawa: Iyak kayo nang iyak sa altar ng Panginoon dahil hindi na niya pinapansin ang inyong mga handog at hindi na siya nalulugod sa mga iyon. 14 Itinatanong ninyo kung bakit? Sapagkat saksi ang Panginoon na nagtaksil kayo sa asawa na inyong pinakasalan noong inyong kabataan. Sinira ninyo ang inyong kasunduan na magiging tapat kayo sa isaʼt isa. 15 Hindi baʼt pinag-isa kayo ng Dios sa katawan at sa espiritu para maging kanya?[f] At bakit niya kayo pinag-isa? Sapagkat gusto niyang magkaroon kayo ng mga anak na makadios. Kaya siguraduhin ninyong hindi kayo magtataksil sa babaeng pinakasalan ninyo noong inyong kabataan. 16 Sapagkat sinabi ng Panginoon, ang Dios ng Israel, “Ayaw kong maghiwalay ang mag-asawa. Kung hiwalayan ng lalaki ang kanyang asawa, itoʼy pagmamalupit sa asawang babae.”
Kaya siguraduhin ninyong hindi kayo magtataksil sa inyong asawa.
Ang Araw ng Paghatol ng Panginoon
17 Sawang-sawa na ang Panginoon sa inyong mga sinasabi. Pero itinatanong pa ninyo, “Ano ang ikinasasawa niya sa amin?” Sinasabi ninyo na mabuti sa paningin ng Dios ang lahat ng gumagawa ng masama at natutuwa siya sa kanila. Pakutya ninyong sinasabi, “Nasaan na ang Dios ng katarungan?”
