6 那 時 ， 所 羅 門 說 ： 耶 和 華 曾 說 他 必 住 在 幽 暗 之 處 。
2 但 我 已 經 建 造 殿 宇 作 你 的 居 所 ， 為 你 永 遠 的 住 處 。
3 王 轉 臉 為 以 色 列 會 眾 祝 福 ， 以 色 列 會 眾 就 都 站 立 。
4 所 羅 門 說 ： 耶 和 華 ─ 以 色 列 的 神 是 應 當 稱 頌 的 ！ 因 他 親 口 向 我 父 大 衛 所 應 許 的 ， 也 親 手 成 就 了 。
5 他 說 ： 自 從 我 領 我 民 出 埃 及 地 以 來 ， 我 未 曾 在 以 色 列 眾 支 派 中 選 擇 一 城 建 造 殿 宇 為 我 名 的 居 所 ， 也 未 曾 揀 選 一 人 作 我 民 以 色 列 的 君 ；
6 但 選 擇 耶 路 撒 冷 為 我 名 的 居 所 ， 又 揀 選 大 衛 治 理 我 民 以 色 列 。
7 所 羅 門 說 ： 我 父 大 衛 曾 立 意 要 為 耶 和 華 ─ 以 色 列 神 的 名 建 殿 ，
8 耶 和 華 卻 對 我 父 大 衛 說 ： 你 立 意 要 為 我 的 名 建 殿 ， 這 意 思 甚 好 ；
9 只 是 你 不 可 建 殿 ， 惟 你 所 生 的 兒 子 必 為 我 名 建 殿 。
10 現 在 耶 和 華 成 就 了 他 所 應 許 的 話 ， 使 我 接 續 我 父 大 衛 坐 以 色 列 的 國 位 ， 是 照 耶 和 華 所 說 的 ， 又 為 耶 和 華 ─ 以 色 列 神 的 名 建 造 了 殿 。
11 我 將 約 櫃 安 置 在 其 中 ， 櫃 內 有 耶 和 華 的 約 ， 就 是 他 與 以 色 列 人 所 立 的 約 。
12 所 羅 門 當 著 以 色 列 會 眾 ， 站 在 耶 和 華 的 壇 前 ， 舉 起 手 來 ，
13 〈 所 羅 門 曾 造 一 個 銅 臺 ， 長 五 肘 ， 寬 五 肘 ， 高 三 肘 ， 放 在 院 中 〉 就 站 在 臺 上 ， 當 著 以 色 列 的 會 眾 跪 下 ， 向 天 舉 手 ，
14 說 ： 耶 和 華 ─ 以 色 列 的 神 啊 ， 天 上 地 下 沒 有 神 可 比 你 的 ！ 你 向 那 盡 心 行 在 你 面 前 的 僕 人 守 約 施 慈 愛 ；
15 向 你 僕 人 ─ 我 父 大 衛 所 應 許 的 話 現 在 應 驗 了 。 你 親 口 應 許 ， 親 手 成 就 ， 正 如 今 日 一 樣 。
16 耶 和 華 ─ 以 色 列 的 神 啊 ， 你 所 應 許 你 僕 人 ─ 我 父 大 衛 的 話 說 ： 你 的 子 孫 若 謹 慎 自 己 的 行 為 ， 遵 守 我 的 律 法 ， 像 你 在 我 面 前 所 行 的 一 樣 ， 就 不 斷 人 坐 以 色 列 的 國 位 。 現 在 求 你 應 驗 這 話 。
17 耶 和 華 ─ 以 色 列 的 神 啊 ， 求 你 成 就 向 你 僕 人 大 衛 所 應 許 的 話 。
18 神 果 真 與 世 人 同 住 在 地 上 麼 ？ 看 哪 ， 天 和 天 上 的 天 尚 且 不 足 你 居 住 的 ， 何 況 我 所 建 的 這 殿 呢 ？
19 惟 求 耶 和 華 ─ 我 的 神 垂 顧 僕 人 的 禱 告 祈 求 ， 俯 聽 僕 人 在 你 面 前 的 祈 禱 呼 籲 。
20 願 你 晝 夜 看 顧 這 殿 ， 就 是 你 應 許 立 為 你 名 的 居 所 ； 求 你 垂 聽 僕 人 向 此 處 禱 告 的 話 。
21 你 僕 人 和 你 民 以 色 列 向 此 處 祈 禱 的 時 候 ， 求 你 從 天 上 你 的 居 所 垂 聽 ， 垂 聽 而 赦 免 。
22 人 若 得 罪 鄰 舍 ， 有 人 叫 他 起 誓 ， 他 來 到 這 殿 ， 在 你 的 壇 前 起 誓 ，
23 求 你 從 天 上 垂 聽 ， 判 斷 你 的 僕 人 ， 定 惡 人 有 罪 ， 照 他 所 行 的 報 應 在 他 頭 上 ； 定 義 人 有 理 ， 照 他 的 義 賞 賜 他 。
24 你 的 民 以 色 列 若 得 罪 你 ， 敗 在 仇 敵 面 前 ， 又 回 心 轉 意 承 認 你 的 名 ， 在 這 殿 裡 向 你 祈 求 禱 告 ，
25 求 你 從 天 上 垂 聽 ， 赦 免 你 民 以 色 列 的 罪 ， 使 他 們 歸 回 你 賜 給 他 們 和 他 們 列 祖 之 地 。
26 你 的 民 因 得 罪 你 ， 你 懲 罰 他 們 ， 使 天 閉 塞 不 下 雨 ， 他 們 若 向 此 處 禱 告 ， 承 認 你 的 名 ， 離 開 他 們 的 罪 ，
27 求 你 在 天 上 垂 聽 ， 赦 免 你 僕 人 和 你 民 以 色 列 的 罪 ， 將 當 行 的 善 道 指 教 他 們 ， 且 降 雨 在 你 的 地 ， 就 是 你 賜 給 你 民 為 業 之 地 。
28 國 中 若 有 饑 荒 、 瘟 疫 、 旱 風 、 霉 爛 、 蝗 蟲 、 螞 蚱 ， 或 有 仇 敵 犯 境 ， 圍 困 城 邑 ， 無 論 遭 遇 甚 麼 災 禍 疾 病 ，
29 你 的 民 以 色 列 ， 或 是 眾 人 ， 或 是 一 人 ， 自 覺 災 禍 甚 苦 ， 向 這 殿 舉 手 ， 無 論 祈 求 甚 麼 ， 禱 告 甚 麼 ，
30 求 你 從 天 上 你 的 居 所 垂 聽 赦 免 。 你 是 知 道 人 心 的 ， 要 照 各 人 所 行 的 待 他 們 （ 惟 有 你 知 道 世 人 的 心 ） ，
31 使 他 們 在 你 賜 給 我 們 列 祖 之 地 上 一 生 一 世 敬 畏 你 ， 遵 行 你 的 道 。
32 論 到 不 屬 你 民 以 色 列 的 外 邦 人 ， 為 你 的 大 名 和 大 能 的 手 ， 並 伸 出 來 的 膀 臂 ， 從 遠 方 而 來 ， 向 這 殿 禱 告 ，
33 求 你 從 天 上 你 的 居 所 垂 聽 ， 照 著 外 邦 人 所 祈 求 的 而 行 ， 使 天 下 萬 民 都 認 識 你 的 名 ， 敬 畏 你 ， 像 你 的 民 以 色 列 一 樣 ， 又 使 他 們 知 道 我 建 造 的 這 殿 是 稱 為 你 名 下 的 。
34 你 的 民 若 奉 你 的 差 遣 ， 無 論 往 何 處 去 與 仇 敵 爭 戰 ， 向 你 所 選 擇 的 城 與 我 為 你 名 所 建 造 的 殿 禱 告 ，
35 求 你 從 天 上 垂 聽 他 們 的 禱 告 祈 求 ， 使 他 們 得 勝 。
36 你 的 民 若 得 罪 你 （ 世 上 沒 有 不 犯 罪 的 人 ） ， 你 向 他 們 發 怒 ， 將 他 們 交 給 仇 敵 擄 到 或 遠 或 近 之 地 ；
37 他 們 若 在 擄 到 之 地 想 起 罪 來 ， 回 心 轉 意 ， 懇 求 你 說 ： 我 們 有 罪 了 ， 我 們 悖 逆 了 ， 我 們 作 惡 了 ；
38 他 們 若 在 擄 到 之 地 盡 心 盡 性 歸 服 你 ， 又 向 自 己 的 地 ， 就 是 你 賜 給 他 們 列 祖 之 地 和 你 所 選 擇 的 城 ， 並 我 為 你 名 所 建 造 的 殿 禱 告 ，
39 求 你 從 天 上 你 的 居 所 垂 聽 你 民 的 禱 告 祈 求 ， 為 他 們 伸 冤 ， 赦 免 他 們 的 過 犯 。
40 我 的 神 啊 ， 現 在 求 你 睜 眼 看 ， 側 耳 聽 在 此 處 所 獻 的 禱 告 。
41 耶 和 華 神 啊 ， 求 你 起 來 ， 和 你 有 能 力 的 約 櫃 同 入 安 息 之 所 。 耶 和 華 神 啊 ， 願 你 的 祭 司 披 上 救 恩 ； 願 你 的 聖 民 蒙 福 歡 樂 。

6 Entonces Salomón declaró:
«Señor, tú has dicho que habitarías en la oscuridad de una nube, 2 y yo te he construido un excelso templo, un lugar donde habites para siempre».
3 Luego se puso de frente para bendecir a toda la asamblea de Israel que estaba allí de pie, 4 y dijo:
«Bendito sea el Señor, Dios de Israel, que con su mano ha cumplido ahora lo que con su boca le había prometido a mi padre David cuando le dijo: 5 “Desde el día en que saqué de la tierra de Egipto a mi pueblo, no elegí ninguna ciudad de las tribus de Israel para que en ella se me construyera un templo donde yo habitara, ni elegí a nadie para que gobernara a mi pueblo Israel. 6 Más bien, elegí a Jerusalén para habitar en ella, y a David para que gobernara a mi pueblo Israel”.
7 »Pues bien, mi padre David tuvo mucho interés en construir un templo en honor del Señor, Dios de Israel, 8 pero el Señor le dijo: “Me agrada que te hayas interesado en construir un templo en mi honor. 9 Sin embargo, no serás tú quien me lo construya, sino un hijo de tus entrañas; él será quien construya el templo en mi honor”.
10 »Ahora el Señor ha cumplido su promesa: Tal como lo prometió, he sucedido a mi padre David en el trono de Israel, y he construido el templo en honor del Señor, Dios de Israel. 11 Allí he colocado el arca, en la cual está el pacto que el Señor hizo con los israelitas».

12 A continuación, Salomón se puso ante el altar del Señor y, en presencia de toda la asamblea de Israel, extendió las manos. 13 Había mandado construir y colocar en medio del atrio una plataforma de bronce cuadrada, que medía dos metros con veinticinco centímetros por lado, y un metro con treinta y cinco centímetros de alto. Allí, sobre la plataforma, se arrodilló y, extendiendo las manos al cielo, 14 oró así:
«Señor, Dios de Israel, no hay Dios como tú en el cielo ni en la tierra, pues tú cumples tu pacto de amor con quienes te sirven y te siguen de todo corazón. 15 Has llevado a cabo lo que le dijiste a tu siervo David, mi padre; y este día has cumplido con tu mano lo que con tu boca prometiste.
16 »Y ahora, Señor, Dios de Israel, cumple también la promesa que le hiciste a tu siervo, mi padre David, cuando le dijiste: “Si tus hijos observan una buena conducta, viviendo de acuerdo con mi ley como tú lo has hecho, nunca te faltará un descendiente que ocupe el trono de Israel en mi presencia”. 17 Señor, Dios de Israel, ¡confirma ahora esta promesa que le hiciste a tu siervo David!
18 »Pero ¿será posible que tú, Dios mío, habites en la tierra con la humanidad? Si los cielos, por altos que sean, no pueden contenerte, ¡mucho menos este templo que he construido! 19 Sin embargo, Señor mi Dios, atiende la oración y la súplica de este siervo tuyo. Oye el clamor y la oración que elevo en tu presencia. 20 ¡Que tus ojos estén abiertos día y noche sobre este templo, el lugar donde decidiste habitar,[a] para que oigas la oración que tu siervo te eleva aquí! 21 Oye las súplicas de tu siervo y de tu pueblo Israel cuando oren en este lugar. Oye desde el cielo, donde habitas; ¡escucha y perdona!
22 »Si alguien peca contra su prójimo y se le exige venir a este templo para jurar delante de tu altar, 23 óyelo tú desde el cielo y juzga a tus siervos. Condena al culpable y haz que reciba su merecido; absuelve al inocente y vindícalo por su rectitud.
24 »Si tu pueblo Israel es derrotado por el enemigo por haber pecado contra ti, y luego se vuelve a ti para honrar tu nombre y ora y te suplica en este templo, 25 óyelo tú desde el cielo, y perdona su pecado y hazlo regresar a la tierra que les diste a ellos y a sus antepasados.
26 »Cuando tu pueblo peque contra ti y tú lo aflijas cerrando el cielo para que no llueva, si luego ellos oran en este lugar y honran tu nombre y se arrepienten de su pecado, 27 óyelos tú desde el cielo y perdona el pecado de tus siervos, de tu pueblo Israel. Guíalos para que sigan el buen camino, y envía la lluvia sobre esta tierra, que es tuya, pues tú se la diste a tu pueblo por herencia.
28 »Cuando en el país haya hambre, peste, sequía, o plagas de langostas o saltamontes en los sembrados, o cuando el enemigo sitie alguna de nuestras ciudades; en fin, cuando venga cualquier calamidad o enfermedad, 29 si luego en su dolor cualquier israelita, consciente de su culpa,[b] extiende sus manos hacia este templo y ora y te suplica, 30 óyelo tú desde el cielo, donde habitas, y perdónalo. Págale a cada uno según su conducta, la cual tú conoces, puesto que solo tú escudriñas el corazón humano. 31 Así todos tendrán temor de ti y andarán en tus caminos mientras vivan en la tierra que les diste a nuestros antepasados.
32 »Trata de igual manera al extranjero que no pertenece a tu pueblo Israel, pero que, atraído por tu gran fama y por tus despliegues de fuerza y poder, ha venido de lejanas tierras. Cuando ese extranjero venga y ore en este templo, 33 óyelo tú desde el cielo, donde habitas, y concédele cualquier petición que te haga. Así todos los pueblos de la tierra conocerán tu nombre y, al igual que tu pueblo Israel, tendrán temor de ti y comprenderán que en este templo que he construido se invoca tu nombre.
34 »Cuando saques a tu pueblo para combatir a sus enemigos, sea donde sea, si el pueblo ora a ti y dirige la mirada hacia esta ciudad que has escogido, hacia el templo que he construido en tu honor, 35 oye tú desde el cielo su oración y su súplica, y defiende su causa.
36 »No hay ser humano que no peque. Si tu pueblo peca contra ti y tú te enojas con ellos y los entregas al enemigo para que se los lleven cautivos a otro país, lejano o cercano; 37 y si en el destierro, en el país de los vencedores, se arrepienten y se vuelven a ti, y oran a ti diciendo: “Somos culpables, hemos pecado, hemos hecho lo malo”; 38 y si en la tierra de sus captores se vuelven a ti de todo corazón y con toda el alma, y oran y dirigen la mirada hacia la tierra que les diste a sus antepasados, hacia la ciudad que has escogido y hacia el templo que he construido en tu honor, 39 oye tú sus oraciones y súplicas desde el cielo, donde habitas, y defiende su causa. ¡Perdona a tu pueblo que ha pecado contra ti!
40 »Ahora, Dios mío, te ruego que tus ojos se mantengan abiertos, y atentos tus oídos a las oraciones que se eleven en este lugar.
41 »Levántate, Señor y Dios;
ven a descansar,
tú y tu arca poderosa.
Señor y Dios,
¡que tus sacerdotes se revistan de salvación!
¡Que tus fieles se regocijen en tu bondad!
42 Señor y Dios,
no le des la espalda a[c] tu ungido.
¡Recuerda tu fiel amor hacia David, tu siervo!»

6 Then Solomon said, “The Lord has said that he would dwell in a dark cloud;(A) 2 I have built a magnificent temple for you, a place for you to dwell forever.(B)”
3 While the whole assembly of Israel was standing there, the king turned around and blessed them. 4 Then he said:
“Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, who with his hands has fulfilled what he promised with his mouth to my father David. For he said, 5 ‘Since the day I brought my people out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city in any tribe of Israel to have a temple built so that my Name might be there, nor have I chosen anyone to be ruler over my people Israel. 6 But now I have chosen Jerusalem(C) for my Name(D) to be there, and I have chosen David(E) to rule my people Israel.’
7 “My father David had it in his heart(F) to build a temple for the Name of the Lord, the God of Israel. 8 But the Lord said to my father David, ‘You did well to have it in your heart to build a temple for my Name. 9 Nevertheless, you are not the one to build the temple, but your son, your own flesh and blood—he is the one who will build the temple for my Name.’
10 “The Lord has kept the promise he made. I have succeeded David my father and now I sit on the throne of Israel, just as the Lord promised, and I have built the temple for the Name of the Lord, the God of Israel. 11 There I have placed the ark, in which is the covenant(G) of the Lord that he made with the people of Israel.”
Solomon’s Prayer of Dedication(H)(I)
12 Then Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord in front of the whole assembly of Israel and spread out his hands. 13 Now he had made a bronze platform,(J) five cubits long, five cubits wide and three cubits high,[a] and had placed it in the center of the outer court. He stood on the platform and then knelt down(K) before the whole assembly of Israel and spread out his hands toward heaven. 14 He said:
“Lord, the God of Israel, there is no God like you(L) in heaven or on earth—you who keep your covenant of love(M) with your servants who continue wholeheartedly in your way. 15 You have kept your promise to your servant David my father; with your mouth you have promised(N) and with your hand you have fulfilled it—as it is today.
16 “Now, Lord, the God of Israel, keep for your servant David my father the promises you made to him when you said, ‘You shall never fail(O) to have a successor to sit before me on the throne of Israel, if only your descendants are careful in all they do to walk before me according to my law,(P) as you have done.’ 17 And now, Lord, the God of Israel, let your word that you promised your servant David come true.
18 “But will God really dwell(Q) on earth with humans? The heavens,(R) even the highest heavens, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built! 19 Yet, Lord my God, give attention to your servant’s prayer and his plea for mercy. Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in your presence. 20 May your eyes(S) be open toward this temple day and night, this place of which you said you would put your Name(T) there. May you hear(U) the prayer your servant prays toward this place. 21 Hear the supplications of your servant and of your people Israel when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven, your dwelling place; and when you hear, forgive.(V)
22 “When anyone wrongs their neighbor and is required to take an oath(W) and they come and swear the oath before your altar in this temple, 23 then hear from heaven and act. Judge between your servants, condemning(X) the guilty and bringing down on their heads what they have done, and vindicating the innocent by treating them in accordance with their innocence.
24 “When your people Israel have been defeated(Y) by an enemy because they have sinned against you and when they turn back and give praise to your name, praying and making supplication before you in this temple, 25 then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your people Israel and bring them back to the land you gave to them and their ancestors.
26 “When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain(Z) because your people have sinned against you, and when they pray toward this place and give praise to your name and turn from their sin because you have afflicted them, 27 then hear from heaven and forgive(AA) the sin of your servants, your people Israel. Teach them the right way to live, and send rain on the land you gave your people for an inheritance.
28 “When famine(AB) or plague comes to the land, or blight or mildew, locusts or grasshoppers, or when enemies besiege them in any of their cities, whatever disaster or disease may come, 29 and when a prayer or plea is made by anyone among your people Israel—being aware of their afflictions and pains, and spreading out their hands toward this temple— 30 then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Forgive,(AC) and deal with everyone according to all they do, since you know their hearts (for you alone know the human heart),(AD) 31 so that they will fear you(AE) and walk in obedience to you all the time they live in the land you gave our ancestors.
32 “As for the foreigner who does not belong to your people Israel but has come(AF) from a distant land because of your great name and your mighty hand(AG) and your outstretched arm—when they come and pray toward this temple, 33 then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Do whatever the foreigner(AH) asks of you, so that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your own people Israel, and may know that this house I have built bears your Name.
34 “When your people go to war against their enemies,(AI) wherever you send them, and when they pray(AJ) to you toward this city you have chosen and the temple I have built for your Name, 35 then hear from heaven their prayer and their plea, and uphold their cause.
36 “When they sin against you—for there is no one who does not sin(AK)—and you become angry with them and give them over to the enemy, who takes them captive(AL) to a land far away or near; 37 and if they have a change of heart(AM) in the land where they are held captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their captivity and say, ‘We have sinned, we have done wrong and acted wickedly’; 38 and if they turn back to you with all their heart and soul in the land of their captivity where they were taken, and pray toward the land you gave their ancestors, toward the city you have chosen and toward the temple I have built for your Name; 39 then from heaven, your dwelling place, hear their prayer and their pleas, and uphold their cause. And forgive(AN) your people, who have sinned against you.
40 “Now, my God, may your eyes be open and your ears attentive(AO) to the prayers offered in this place.
41 “Now arise,(AP) Lord God, and come to your resting place,(AQ)
you and the ark of your might.
May your priests,(AR) Lord God, be clothed with salvation,
may your faithful people rejoice in your goodness.(AS)
42 Lord God, do not reject your anointed one.(AT)
Remember the great love(AU) promised to David your servant.”
