5 所罗门为耶和华的殿所作的一切工程完成了以后，就把他父亲大卫分别为圣的东西：金银和一切器皿，都带来存放在神殿的库房里。
运约柜进殿(B)
2 那时，所罗门把以色列的长老、各支派的首领和以色列人各家族的首领，都召集到耶路撒冷，要把耶和华的约柜从大卫城，就是锡安运上来。 3 于是，以色列众人在七月的节期来到时，都聚集到王那里。 4 以色列的众长老来到了，利未人就抬起约柜。 5 他们把约柜、会幕和会幕里的一切神圣器皿都抬上来；是祭司和利未人把它们抬上来的。 6 所罗门王和那些聚集到他那里的以色列全体会众，都在约柜前献上牛羊为祭，数量无法计算，不能数点。 7 众祭司把耶和华的约柜抬进放约柜的地方，就是内殿，至圣所里面，放在两个基路伯的翅膀底下。 8 基路伯在约柜上面张开翅膀，遮盖着约柜和抬约柜的杠。 9 那两根杠很长，在内殿前可以看见约柜那里的杠头，在殿外却看不见；直到今日，那两根杠还在那里。 10 约柜里只有两块石版，就是以色列人出埃及以后，耶和华和他们立约的时候，摩西在何烈山放进去的。

11 众祭司从圣所里出来的时候（因为所有在场的祭司，不分班次地全都自洁）， 12 全体负责歌唱的利未人和亚萨、希幔、耶杜顿，以及他们的儿子和亲族，都穿著细麻布的衣服，站在祭坛的东边，敲钹、鼓瑟、弹琴；和他们在一起的，还有一百二十个祭司吹号； 13 吹号的和歌唱的都一致同声地赞美称谢耶和华。他们吹号、敲钹，用各种乐器高声赞美耶和华，说：“耶和华是良善的，他的慈爱永远长存。”那时云彩充满了那殿，就是耶和华的殿。 14 由于那云彩的缘故，祭司都不能侍立供职，因为 神的殿充满了耶和华的荣光。

5 Zo werd de laatste hand aan de tempel gelegd. Daarna gaf Salomo de geschenken die zijn vader, koning David, aan de Here had gewijd, een plaats in de tempel. Ook de andere voorwerpen en al het zilver en goud werden opgeslagen in de schatkamers van de tempel. 2 Daarna riep Salomo alle leiders van Israël, stamhoofden en familiehoofden, naar Jeruzalem voor de plechtigheid van het overbrengen van de ark van het verbond vanuit de Stad van David (die ook wel Sion werd genoemd) naar de tempel. 3 Dat gebeurde in de zevende maand tijdens de viering van het Loofhuttenfeest.
4,5 Onder het toeziend oog van de leiders van Israël tilden de Levieten de ark van het verbond op en namen ook de tent mee, samen met de andere heilige voorwerpen. 6 Koning Salomo en het volk offerden zoveel schapen en ossen voor de ark dat men de tel kwijtraakte. 7,8 Daarna droegen de priesters de ark naar de binnenste kamer van de tempel, het Heilige der Heiligen, en zetten hem neer onder de vleugels van de cherubs, hun vleugels strekten zich uit over de ark en zijn draagstokken. 9 Deze draagstokken waren zo lang dat hun uiteinden vanuit het vertrek ernaast zichtbaar waren. Vanuit de buitengang waren ze echter niet te zien. De ark staat daar nu nog steeds. 10 Er lag in de ark niets anders dan de twee stenen plaquettes die Mozes er bij de berg Horeb had ingelegd, toen de Here een verbond sloot met het volk Israël, nadat ze uit Egypte waren vertrokken.
11,12 Nadat alle priesters de reinigingsceremonieën hadden ondergaan, zonder dat werd gelet op de afdeling waartoe zij behoorden, kwamen ze naar buiten. En wat prezen de Levieten de Here toen de priesters uit het Heilige der Heiligen tevoorschijn kwamen! De zangers waren Asaf, Heman, Jeduthun en al hun zonen en broers. Zij droegen kleding van fijn linnen en stonden aan de oostkant van het altaar. Het koor werd begeleid door honderdtwintig priesters met trompetten, terwijl anderen cimbalen, citers en harpen bespeelden. 13 Het orkest en het koor prezen en dankten de Here eenstemmig. Hun lofprijzing werd begeleid door trompetgeschal, het gerinkel van cimbalen en het luide spel van de andere muzikanten, allen prezen en dankten de Here. Steeds weer herhaalden zij de woorden: ‘Hij is goed en zijn goedheid en liefde duren tot in eeuwigheid.’ 14 En op datzelfde moment vulde de glorie van de Here de tempel in de gestalte van een lichtende wolk, waardoor de priesters niet konden blijven staan en hun dienst moesten onderbreken.

The Ark Brought into the Temple
5 So (A)all the work that Solomon had done for the house of the Lord was finished; and Solomon brought in the things which his father David had dedicated: the silver and the gold and all the furnishings. And he put them in the treasuries of the house of God.
The Ark Brought into the Temple(B)
2 (C)Now Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the chief fathers of the children of Israel, in Jerusalem, that they might bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord up (D)from the City of David, which is Zion. 3 (E)Therefore all the men of Israel assembled with the king (F)at the feast, which was in the seventh month. 4 So all the elders of Israel came, and the (G)Levites took up the ark. 5 Then they brought up the ark, the tabernacle of meeting, and all the holy furnishings that were in the tabernacle. The priests and the Levites brought them up. 6 Also King Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel who were assembled with him before the ark, were sacrificing sheep and oxen that could not be counted or numbered for multitude. 7 Then the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the Lord to its place, into the (H)inner sanctuary of the [a]temple, to the Most Holy Place, under the wings of the cherubim. 8 For the cherubim spread their wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubim overshadowed the ark and its poles. 9 The poles extended so that the ends of the (I)poles of the ark could be seen from the holy place, in front of the inner sanctuary; but they could not be seen from outside. And [b]they are there to this day. 10 Nothing was in the ark except the two tablets which Moses (J)put there at Horeb, [c]when the Lord made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they had come out of Egypt.
11 And it came to pass when the priests came out of the Most Holy Place (for all the priests who were present had [d]sanctified themselves, without keeping to their (K)divisions), 12 (L)and the Levites who were the singers, all those of Asaph and Heman and Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, stood at the east end of the altar, clothed in white linen, having cymbals, stringed instruments and harps, (M)and with them one hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets— 13 indeed it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the Lord, saying:
(N)“For He is good,
For His mercy endures forever,”
that the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud, 14 so that the priests could not [e]continue ministering because of the cloud; (O)for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God.
