耶和華禁止他們交戰
11 羅波安回到耶路撒冷，從猶大和便雅憫支派召集了十八萬精兵，要攻打以色列，收復全國。 2 然而，耶和華上帝對祂的僕人示瑪雅說： 3 「你去告訴所羅門的兒子猶大王羅波安和所有住在猶大和便雅憫的以色列人， 4 耶和華這樣說，『你們不要上去與弟兄交戰，都回家吧，因為這事出於我。』」眾人聽從了耶和華的話，沒有去攻打耶羅波安，各自回家去了。
羅波安加強防禦
5 羅波安住在耶路撒冷，他在猶大修築城池以作防禦。 6 他修築的城池有伯利恆、以坦、提哥亞、 7 伯·夙、梭哥、亞杜蘭、 8 迦特、瑪利沙、西弗、 9 亞多萊音、拉吉、亞西加、 10 瑣拉、亞雅崙、希伯崙，這些都是猶大和便雅憫的堅城。 11 他又在各城池加強防禦，派將領駐守，供給食物、油和酒。 12 他在城內儲備盾牌和矛槍，使城池非常堅固。猶大和便雅憫都歸屬他。
祭司和利未人投奔猶大
13 以色列全境的祭司和利未人都從四面八方來投奔羅波安。 14 利未人撇下他們的草場和產業，來到猶大和耶路撒冷，因為耶羅波安和他的眾子不准他們做祭司事奉耶和華。 15 耶羅波安卻為邱壇、公山羊像和他造的牛犢像設立他自己的祭司。 16 以色列各支派中那些誠心尋求以色列的上帝耶和華的人，都跟隨利未人到耶路撒冷獻祭給他們祖先的上帝耶和華。 17 他們使猶大國堅固，他們效忠所羅門的兒子羅波安三年之久，並在此期間遵行大衛和所羅門的道。

18 羅波安娶了大衛的兒子耶利摩的女兒瑪哈拉為妻，她母親亞比孩是耶西的兒子以利押的女兒。 19 瑪哈拉為他生了耶烏施、示瑪利雅、撒罕三個兒子。 20 後來，他又娶了押沙龍的女兒瑪迦[a]，生了亞比雅、亞太、細撒、示羅密。 21 羅波安共有十八個妻子、六十個妾、二十八個兒子、六十個女兒。眾妻妾中瑪迦最得寵愛， 22 羅波安就立她所生的兒子亞比雅為太子，以便讓他繼承王位。 23 羅波安精明地把其他王子派駐到猶大和便雅憫境內的各堅城，給他們充足的供應和許多妻妾。

11 And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he gathered of the house of Judah and Benjamin an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against Israel, that he might bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam.
2 But the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
3 Speak unto Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,
4 Thus saith the Lord, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren: return every man to his house: for this thing is done of me. And they obeyed the words of the Lord, and returned from going against Jeroboam.
5 And Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem, and built cities for defence in Judah.
6 He built even Bethlehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,
7 And Bethzur, and Shoco, and Adullam,
8 And Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,
9 And Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,
10 And Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, which are in Judah and in Benjamin fenced cities.
11 And he fortified the strong holds, and put captains in them, and store of victual, and of oil and wine.
12 And in every several city he put shields and spears, and made them exceeding strong, having Judah and Benjamin on his side.
13 And the priests and the Levites that were in all Israel resorted to him out of all their coasts.
14 For the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons had cast them off from executing the priest's office unto the Lord:
15 And he ordained him priests for the high places, and for the devils, and for the calves which he had made.
16 And after them out of all the tribes of Israel such as set their hearts to seek the Lord God of Israel came to Jerusalem, to sacrifice unto the Lord God of their fathers.
17 So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and made Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong, three years: for three years they walked in the way of David and Solomon.
18 And Rehoboam took him Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David to wife, and Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse;
19 Which bare him children; Jeush, and Shamariah, and Zaham.
20 And after her he took Maachah the daughter of Absalom; which bare him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
21 And Rehoboam loved Maachah the daughter of Absalom above all his wives and his concubines: (for he took eighteen wives, and threescore concubines; and begat twenty and eight sons, and threescore daughters.)
22 And Rehoboam made Abijah the son of Maachah the chief, to be ruler among his brethren: for he thought to make him king.
23 And he dealt wisely, and dispersed of all his children throughout all the countries of Judah and Benjamin, unto every fenced city: and he gave them victual in abundance. And he desired many wives.

11 Cuando Roboam llegó a Jerusalén, juntó ciento ochenta mil soldados escogidos de las familias de Judá y de la tribu de Benjamín, para luchar contra Israel y recuperar su reino. 2 Pero el Señor habló a Semaías, hombre de Dios, y le ordenó: 3 «Di a Roboam, hijo de Salomón y rey de Judá, y a todos los israelitas de Judá y de Benjamín, 4 que les ordeno que no luchen contra sus hermanos. Que se vuelvan todos a sus casas, porque así lo he dispuesto.»
Al oír ellos lo que el Señor les decía, regresaron, desistiendo de marchar contra Jeroboam.
Prosperidad de Roboam
5 Roboam se estableció en Jerusalén y construyó ciudades fortificadas en Judá. 6 Reforzó así Belén, Etam, Tecoa, 7 Bet-sur, Socó, Adulam, 8 Gat, Maresá, Zif, 9 Adoraim, Laquis, Azecá, 10 Sorá, Aialón y Hebrón, que eran ciudades fortificadas de Judá y Benjamín. 11 Reforzó las fortificaciones y puso en ellas comandantes y provisiones de comida, aceite y vino. 12 Además proveyó de escudos y lanzas a todas y cada una de las ciudades, y las reforzó de manera extraordinaria. Así pues, Roboam quedó en posesión de Judá y Benjamín.
13 Los sacerdotes y levitas de todo Israel vinieron de todas partes para unirse a él, 14 pues los levitas tuvieron que abandonar sus tierras de pastoreo y demás posesiones, para irse a Jerusalén y a otros lugares de Judá, porque Jeroboam y sus sucesores les impidieron ejercer el sacerdocio del Señor. 15 Jeroboam había nombrado sus propios sacerdotes para los santuarios paganos y para el culto a los demonios y a los becerros que había fabricado. 16 Además, los que tenían el sincero propósito de buscar al Señor, el Dios de Israel, siguieron el ejemplo de los sacerdotes y levitas, y se fueron a Jerusalén para ofrecer sacrificios al Señor, Dios de sus antepasados. 17 De esta manera fortalecieron el reino de Judá y apoyaron a Roboam, hijo de Salomón, durante tres años, pues sólo durante tres años él siguió el ejemplo de David y Salomón.
18 Roboam se casó con Mahalat, hija de Jerimot, hijo de David y Abihail, hija de Eliab y nieta de Jesé. 19 Hijos de Roboam y Mahalat fueron Jehús, Semarías y Záham. 20 Después se casó con Maacá, hija de Absalón, y sus hijos fueron Abiam, Atai, Zizá y Selomit. 21 Roboam tenía dieciocho esposas y sesenta concubinas, pero quería más a Maacá que a todas las demás. Tuvo veintiocho hijos y sesenta hijas.
22 Roboam nombró a Abiam, hijo de Maacá, jefe de sus hermanos, pues quería hacerlo rey. 23 Tuvo la buena idea de repartir a sus demás hijos entre todos los territorios de Judá y Benjamín y entre todas las ciudades fortificadas, dándoles provisiones en abundancia y consiguiéndoles muchas esposas.

11 When Rehoboam arrived in Jerusalem,(A) he mustered Judah and Benjamin—a hundred and eighty thousand able young men—to go to war against Israel and to regain the kingdom for Rehoboam.
2 But this word of the Lord came to Shemaiah(B) the man of God: 3 “Say to Rehoboam son of Solomon king of Judah and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, 4 ‘This is what the Lord says: Do not go up to fight against your fellow Israelites.(C) Go home, every one of you, for this is my doing.’” So they obeyed the words of the Lord and turned back from marching against Jeroboam.
Rehoboam Fortifies Judah
5 Rehoboam lived in Jerusalem and built up towns for defense in Judah: 6 Bethlehem, Etam, Tekoa, 7 Beth Zur, Soko, Adullam, 8 Gath, Mareshah, Ziph, 9 Adoraim, Lachish, Azekah, 10 Zorah, Aijalon and Hebron. These were fortified cities(D) in Judah and Benjamin. 11 He strengthened their defenses and put commanders in them, with supplies of food, olive oil and wine. 12 He put shields and spears in all the cities, and made them very strong. So Judah and Benjamin were his.
13 The priests and Levites from all their districts throughout Israel sided with him. 14 The Levites(E) even abandoned their pasturelands and property(F) and came to Judah and Jerusalem, because Jeroboam and his sons had rejected them as priests of the Lord 15 when he appointed(G) his own priests(H) for the high places and for the goat(I) and calf(J) idols he had made. 16 Those from every tribe of Israel(K) who set their hearts on seeking the Lord, the God of Israel, followed the Levites to Jerusalem to offer sacrifices to the Lord, the God of their ancestors. 17 They strengthened(L) the kingdom of Judah and supported Rehoboam son of Solomon three years, following the ways of David and Solomon during this time.
Rehoboam’s Family
18 Rehoboam married Mahalath, who was the daughter of David’s son Jerimoth and of Abihail, the daughter of Jesse’s son Eliab. 19 She bore him sons: Jeush, Shemariah and Zaham. 20 Then he married Maakah(M) daughter of Absalom, who bore him Abijah,(N) Attai, Ziza and Shelomith. 21 Rehoboam loved Maakah daughter of Absalom more than any of his other wives and concubines. In all, he had eighteen wives(O) and sixty concubines, twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.
22 Rehoboam appointed Abijah(P) son of Maakah as crown prince among his brothers, in order to make him king. 23 He acted wisely, dispersing some of his sons throughout the districts of Judah and Benjamin, and to all the fortified cities. He gave them abundant provisions(Q) and took many wives for them.

11 (A)Cuando Roboam llegó a Jerusalén, reunió la casa de Judá y Benjamín, 180,000 hombres, guerreros escogidos, para pelear contra Israel y restituir el reino a Roboam. 2 Pero la palabra del Señor vino a Semaías, hombre de Dios, diciendo(B): 3 «Habla a Roboam, hijo de Salomón, rey de Judá, y a todo Israel en Judá y Benjamín, diciéndoles: 4 “Así dice el Señor: ‘No subirán ni pelearán contra sus hermanos(C); vuelva cada uno a su casa, porque de Mí ha venido esto’”». Y ellos escucharon las palabras del Señor(D) y desistieron de ir contra Jeroboam.
5 Y Roboam habitó en Jerusalén, y edificó ciudades para defensa en Judá(E). 6 Así edificó Belén, Etam, Tecoa, 7 Bet Sur, Soco, Adulam, 8 Gat, Maresa, Zif, 9 Adoraim, Laquis, Azeca, 10 Zora, Ajalón y Hebrón, que son ciudades fortificadas en Judá y en Benjamín. 11 También reforzó las fortalezas y puso comandantes en ellas, y provisiones de víveres, aceite y vino. 12 Y puso escudos y lanzas en todas las ciudades y las reforzó en gran manera. Así mantuvo a su lado a Judá y a Benjamín.
13 Y los sacerdotes y los levitas que estaban en todo Israel se pasaron a él desde todos sus distritos. 14 Porque los levitas dejaron sus tierras de pastos y sus propiedades(F) y vinieron a Judá y a Jerusalén, pues Jeroboam y sus hijos los habían excluido de servir al Señor como sacerdotes(G). 15 Y Jeroboam designó sus propios sacerdotes para los lugares altos(H), para los demonios[a], y para los becerros que él había hecho. 16 Aquellos de entre todas las tribus de Israel que habían resuelto en su corazón buscar al Señor, Dios de Israel, los siguieron(I) a Jerusalén para sacrificar al Señor, Dios de sus padres. 17 Y fortalecieron el reino de Judá y apoyaron a Roboam(J), hijo de Salomón, por tres años, pues por tres años anduvieron en el camino de David y de Salomón.
18 Entonces Roboam tomó por mujer a Mahalat, hija de Jerimot, hijo de David y de Abihail, hija de Eliab(K), hijo de Isaí, 19 y ella le dio hijos: Jeús, Semarías y Zaham. 20 Después de ella tomó a Maaca, hija de Absalón, y ella le dio a Abías(L), Atai, Ziza y Selomit. 21 Y amó Roboam a Maaca, hija de Absalón, más que a todas sus otras mujeres y concubinas. Porque había tomado dieciocho mujeres(M) y sesenta concubinas, y tuvo veintiocho hijos y sesenta hijas. 22 Roboam puso a Abías, hijo de Maaca, por cabeza y jefe entre sus hermanos, porque quería hacerlo rey(N). 23 Y obró sabiamente, y distribuyó a algunos de sus hijos por todos los territorios de Judá y de Benjamín, por todas las ciudades fortificadas, les dio alimento en abundancia, y les buscó muchas mujeres.
