8 哥斯生亞諾和瑣比巴，他也是哈倫的兒子亞哈黑宗族的祖先。 9 雅比斯比他的眾弟兄尊貴，他母親給他取名叫雅比斯，意思是：「我生他時非常痛苦」。 10 雅比斯向以色列的上帝禱告說：「願你賜福給我，擴大我的疆土，與我同在，使我遠離患難和痛苦。」上帝答應了他的祈求。

8 And Coz begat Anub, and Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel the son of Harum.
9 And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.
10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
