為建殿而獻的禮物
29 大衛王又對全體會眾說：「我兒所羅門是上帝特別揀選的，但他還年輕，缺乏經驗。建殿的工程浩大，因為這殿不是為人造的，乃是為耶和華上帝造的。 2 我已竭盡所能為我上帝的殿預備了製作金器、銀器、銅器、鐵器和木器所需的金銀銅鐵及木頭，還有大量的瑪瑙、鑲嵌用的寶石、彩石、大理石及其他貴重的石頭。 3 而且，我因為愛慕我上帝的殿，除了預備以上物品外，還把自己珍藏的金銀獻上，用來建造我上帝的殿。 4 我獻上一百噸俄斐金、二百四十噸純銀，用來貼殿牆， 5 供匠人製作金器銀器。今天，有誰樂意向耶和華奉獻？」
6 結果，各族長、以色列各支派的首領、千夫長、百夫長和負責王室事務的官員都樂意奉獻， 7 他們為上帝的殿奉獻了一百七十噸金子，三百四十噸銀子，六百二十噸銅，三千四百噸鐵。 8 有寶石的人都把寶石交到耶和華殿的庫房，由革順人耶歇保管。 9 因為他們誠心誠意地把東西獻給上帝，百姓歡喜不已，大衛王也非常歡喜。
大衛頌讚耶和華
10 大衛在會眾面前頌讚耶和華，說：「我們先祖以色列的上帝耶和華啊，你永永遠遠當受頌讚！ 11 耶和華啊，偉大、權能、榮耀、尊貴和威嚴都是你的，天上地下的一切都是你的。耶和華啊，國度是你的，你是萬有的主宰。 12 富貴和尊榮都從你而來，你掌管一切，你手中有權能和力量，能使人尊大、強盛。 13 我們的上帝啊，我們稱頌你，讚美你榮耀的名。
14 「我算什麼，我的人民算什麼，怎麼配向你奉獻？因為萬物都從你而來，我們只是把從你那裡得來的獻給你。 15 我們在你面前只是客旅，是寄居的，像我們祖先一樣；我們在世的日子就像影子一樣轉瞬即逝。 16 我們的上帝耶和華啊，我們為你的聖名建造殿宇所預備的這一切財物都是從你那裡來的，都屬於你。 17 我的上帝啊，我知道你洞察人心，喜愛正直的人。我懷著正直的心甘願獻上這一切，我也看見你這裡的子民甘心樂意地將財物獻給你。 18 我們祖先亞伯拉罕、以撒、以色列的上帝耶和華啊！求你使你的子民常存這樣的心志，使他們的心忠於你。 19 求你賜給我兒所羅門忠誠的心，以遵行你的誡命、法度和律例，用我預備的材料全力建造殿宇。」
20 大衛對全體會眾說：「你們要頌讚你們的上帝耶和華。」於是，全體會眾頌讚他們祖先的上帝耶和華，向耶和華和王俯伏下拜。
所羅門被立為王
21 次日，他們向耶和華獻祭。他們代表全以色列獻上一千頭公牛、一千隻公綿羊、一千隻羊羔作燔祭，同時還獻上奠祭及許多其他祭。 22 那一天，他們在耶和華面前歡歡喜喜地吃喝。
他們再次擁立大衛的兒子所羅門做王，在耶和華面前膏立他做首領，又膏立撒督做祭司。 23 於是，所羅門登上了耶和華所賜的王位，接替他父親大衛做王。他凡事亨通，以色列眾人都服從他， 24 眾首領、勇士以及大衛王的眾子都效忠於他。 25 耶和華使所羅門倍受以色列人尊崇，賜他君王的威嚴，超過在他之前的所有以色列王。
大衛去世
26 耶西的兒子大衛是全以色列的王， 27 他在以色列執政共四十年：在希伯崙執政七年，在耶路撒冷執政三十三年。 28 大衛年紀老邁，享盡富貴尊榮後，壽終正寢。他兒子所羅門繼位。 29 大衛王一生的事蹟都記在撒母耳先見、拿單先知和迦得先見的史記上。 30 書中記述了他的政績和英勇事蹟，以及他和以色列及列國所遭遇的事。

大卫亲自预备建殿的材料
29 大卫王对全体会众说：“我的儿子所罗门，是 神所拣选的，现在还年幼识浅，而这工程非常浩大；因为这殿宇不是为人建造，而是为耶和华 神建造的。 2 我为我 神的殿已经尽了我的力量，预备了金子做金器，银子做银器，铜做铜器，铁做铁器，木做木器；还有红玛瑙、用作镶嵌的宝石、彩石和各样的宝石，以及很多大理石。 3 不但这样，因我爱慕我 神的殿，就在我为建造圣殿预备的一切以外，又把我自己积蓄的金银献给我 神的殿： 4 就是俄斐金一百多公吨，精炼的银子约两百四十公吨，用来贴殿里的墙壁； 5 金子做金器，银子做银器，以及匠人手所作的各样巧工。今日有谁愿意奉献给耶和华呢？”
民众上下一心，自愿奉献
6 于是各家族的领袖、以色列各支派的领袖、千夫长、百夫长和管理王的事务的领袖，都乐意奉献。 7 为了神殿里的需用，他们奉献了金子一百七十多公吨，银子三百四十多公吨，铜约六百二十公吨和铁三千四百公吨。 8 有宝石的，都交到耶和华殿这库房，由革顺人耶歇经办。 9 人民因这些人自愿奉献而欢喜，因为他们一心乐意奉献给耶和华，大卫王也非常欢喜。
大卫称颂耶和华
10 所以大卫在全体会众面前称颂耶和华，说：“耶和华我们的祖先以色列的 神，是应当称颂的，从亘古直到永远。 11 耶和华啊，尊大、能力、荣耀、胜利和威严，都是你的；因为天上地下的万有都是你的；耶和华啊，国度是你的，你是至高的，是万有之首。 12 富足和尊荣都从你而来，你也统治万有。在你的手里有力量和权能；人的尊大、强盛都是出于你的手。 13 我们的 神啊，现在我们要称颂你，赞美你荣耀的名。 14 我算甚么？我的人民又算甚么？竟有力量这样乐意奉献？因为万物都是从你而来，我们只是把从你手里得来的，奉献给你。 15 我们在你面前是客旅，是寄居的，像我们的列祖一样；我们在世上的日子好象影儿，没有指望。 16 耶和华我们的 神啊，我们预备的这一切财物，要为你的圣名建造殿宇，都是从你而来的，也都是属于你的。 17 我的 神啊，我知道你察验人心，喜悦正直；至于我，我以正直的心甘愿奉献这一切；现在我也非常欢喜看见你在这里的人民，都甘愿奉献给你。 18 耶和华我们列祖亚伯拉罕、以撒、以色列的 神啊，求你永远保守这一件事，就是使你的子民常存这心思意念，坚定他们的心归向你。 19 求你赐给我的儿子所罗门专一的心，谨守你的诫命、法度和律例，作成这一切事，用我所预备的一切来建造殿宇。”
众民称颂耶和华并且献祭
20 大卫对全体会众说：“你们应当称颂耶和华你们的 神。”于是全体会众就称颂耶和华他们列祖的 神，俯伏敬拜耶和华和王。 21 第二天，他们向耶和华献祭，他们向耶和华献上燔祭；那一天他们献了公牛一千头、公绵羊一千只、羊羔一千只，以及同献的奠祭，又为以色列众人献了许多祭。
所罗门登基作王
22 那一天，他们十分喜乐地在耶和华面前吃喝。他们再次表示拥立大卫的儿子所罗门作王，膏他为耶和华作君王，又膏撒督作祭司。 23 于是所罗门坐在耶和华所赐的位上，接续他父亲大卫作王；他凡事亨通，以色列众人都听从他。 24 众领袖和勇士，以及大卫王的众子，都顺服所罗门王。 25 耶和华使所罗门在以色列众人面前非常尊大，又赐给他君王的威严，胜过在他以前所有的以色列王。
大卫逝世

Offerings for the Temple
29 Then King David said to the entire assembly, “My son Solomon, whom alone God has chosen, (A)is still young and inexperienced, and the work is great; for (B)the [a]temple is not for mankind, but for the Lord God. 2 Now (C)with all my ability I have provided for the house of my God the gold for the things of gold, the silver for the things of silver, the bronze for the things of bronze, the iron for the things of iron, wood for the things of wood, onyx stones and inlaid stones, stones of antimony and stones of various colors, and all kinds of precious stones and alabaster in abundance. 3 In addition, in my delight in the house of my God, the treasure I have of gold and silver, I give to the house of my God, over and above all that I have already provided for the holy [b]temple, 4 namely, (D)three thousand [c]talents of gold, from (E)the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the [d]buildings; 5 gold for the things of gold and silver for the things of silver, that is, for all the work [e]done by the craftsmen. Who then is willing [f]to consecrate himself this day to the Lord?”
6 Then (F)the rulers of the fathers’ households, the leaders of the tribes of Israel, and the commanders of thousands and hundreds, with (G)the supervisors of the king’s work, offered willingly; 7 and for the service of the house of God they gave five thousand talents and ten thousand [g](H)darics of gold, ten thousand talents of silver, eighteen thousand talents of brass, and a hundred thousand talents of iron. 8 [h]Whoever possessed precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the Lord, [i]in care of (I)Jehiel the Gershonite. 9 Then the people rejoiced because they had offered so willingly, for they made their offering to the Lord (J)wholeheartedly, and King David also rejoiced greatly.
David’s Prayer
10 So David blessed the Lord in the sight of all the assembly; and David said, “Blessed are You, Lord God of Israel our father, forever and ever. 11 (K)Yours, Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and on the earth; Yours is the dominion, Lord, and You exalt Yourself as head over all. 12 (L)Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all, and (M)in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone. 13 Now therefore, our God, we thank You, and praise Your glorious name.
14 “But who am I and who are my people that we should [j]be able to offer as generously as this? For all things come from You, and from Your hand we have given to You. 15 For (N)we are strangers before You, and temporary residents, as all our fathers were; (O)our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no hope. 16 Lord our God, all this abundance that we have provided to build You a house for Your holy name, it is from Your hand, and everything is Yours. 17 Since I know, my God, that (P)You put the heart to the test and (Q)delight in uprightness, I, in the integrity of my heart, have willingly offered all these things; so now with joy I have seen Your people, who are present here, make their offerings willingly to You. 18 Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep this forever in the [k]intentions of the hearts of Your people, and direct their hearts to You; 19 and (R)give my son Solomon a perfect heart to keep Your commandments, Your testimonies, and Your statutes, and to do them all, and (S)to build the [l]temple for which I have made provision.”
20 Then David said to all the assembly, “Now bless the Lord your God.” And (T)all the assembly blessed the Lord, the God of their fathers, and (U)bowed down and paid [m]homage to the Lord and the king.
Sacrifices
21 On the next day (V)they [n]made sacrifices to the Lord and offered burnt offerings to the Lord, a thousand bulls, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel. 22 So they ate and drank that day before the Lord with great gladness.
Solomon Again Made King
And they made Solomon the son of David king (W)a second time, and they (X)anointed him as ruler for the Lord and Zadok as priest. 23 Then (Y)Solomon sat on the throne of the Lord as king instead of his father David; and he prospered, and all Israel obeyed him. 24 And all the officials, the mighty men, and also all the sons of King David [o]pledged allegiance to King Solomon. 25 (Z)The Lord highly honored Solomon in the sight of all Israel, and (AA)bestowed on him royal majesty which had not been bestowed on any king before him in Israel.
26 Now (AB)David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel. 27 (AC)The period which he reigned over Israel was forty years; he reigned in Hebron seven years and [p]in Jerusalem thirty-three years.
Death of David
28 Then he died at (AD)a good old age, (AE)full of days, riches, and honor; and his son Solomon reigned in his place. 29 Now the acts of King David, from the first to the last, are written in the chronicles of (AF)Samuel the seer, in the chronicles of (AG)Nathan the prophet, and in the chronicles of (AH)Gad the seer, 30 with all of his reign, his power, and the circumstances which came upon him, Israel, and all the kingdoms of the lands.

De giften voor de bouw van de tempel
29 Toen zei koning David tegen iedereen die daar aanwezig was: "Mijn zoon Salomo, die door God is uitgekozen, is nog jong. En er is veel werk te doen. Want dit paleis zal niet voor een mens zijn, maar voor de Heer God. 2 Daarom heb ik zoveel mogelijk materiaal verzameld voor de tempel van mijn God: goud, zilver, koper, ijzer, hout, edelstenen, gekleurde stenen, geborduurde stoffen en grote hoeveelheden marmer. 3 Maar bovendien wil ik, omdat ik zoveel houd van de tempel van mijn God, nog van mijn eigen schatten een geschenk geven voor de tempel. 4 Ik geef 3000 talenten (90.000 kilo) zuiver goud en 7000 talenten (210.000 kilo) zuiver zilver om de muren van de gebouwen mee te bedekken, 5 en goud en zilver om alle voorwerpen van te maken. Wie van jullie wil ook een geschenk aan de Heer geven?"
6 Toen gaven ook alle familiehoofden, stamhoofden, aanvoerders en ambtenaren van de koning goud, zilver en edelstenen voor de bouw van de tempel. 7 Ze gaven 5000 talenten (150.000 kilo) goud, 10.000 goudstukken, 10.000 talenten (300.000 kilo) zilver, 18.000 talenten (540.000 kilo) koper en 100.000 talenten (3 miljoen kilo) ijzer.[a] 8 Ook gaf een aantal mannen de edelstenen weg die ze bij zich hadden, voor de tempelschat. Ze gaven ze aan Jehiël, uit de familie van Gerson. 9 De mensen gaven heel gul, want ze gaven het graag aan de Heer. Het hele volk was daar blij over.
Ook koning David was er erg blij mee. 10 Hij prees de Heer en zei: "Ik prijs U, Heer, God van onze vader Israël, voor altijd. 11 Want U bent groot en machtig. U bent een machtig Koning. Alles in de hemel en op de aarde is van U. U bent de allerhoogste Koning. 12 Als iemand rijk en machtig is, heeft U hem dat gegeven. Want U heerst over alles. U bent oppermachtig. U kan mensen groot en machtig maken. 13 Nu danken en prijzen we U, onze God. 14 Hoe zouden ik en mijn volk U deze prachtige geschenken kunnen geven? Want het is allemaal al van U. We hebben het van U gekregen en we geven het weer aan U. 15 Wij zijn maar vreemdelingen bij U, net als onze voorouders. Ons leven is in een ogenblik voorbij. We hebben niets te verwachten. 16 Heer God, al deze rijkdom die wij hebben verzameld om voor U een tempel te bouwen, is van U. Alles is van U. 17 Ik weet, mijn God, dat U er blij mee bent als iemand van U houdt. Ik heb U dit gegeven omdat ik van U houd. En ik ben blij te zien dat de anderen die hier zijn, U ook geschenken hebben gegeven. 18 Heer, God van onze voorvaders Abraham, Izaäk en Jakob, wilt U ons helpen om altijd zo te blijven, om altijd zoveel van U te houden. 19 Help ook mijn zoon Salomo om altijd van U te houden. Want dan zal hij zich aan al uw wetten en leefregels houden. En dan zal hij de tempel bouwen die ik ontworpen heb."
20 Daarna zei David tegen iedereen die daar was: "Prijs nu jullie Heer God!" Toen prezen ze allemaal de Heer, de God van hun voorvaders. Ze knielden neer voor de Heer en de koning. 21 De volgende dag brachten ze offers aan de Heer: 1000 stieren, 1000 geiten en 1000 schapen, met alle wijn-offers die daarbij horen. Ook werden er heel veel dieren geslacht voor dank-offers. 22 Ze aten en dronken en vierden uitbundig feest voor de Heer. Ze zalfden Salomo, de zoon van David, opnieuw tot koning. Zadok werd gezalfd tot priester. 23 En Salomo ging op de troon van de Heer zitten en werd koning in de plaats van zijn vader David. Hij was een heel goed koning en heel Israël gehoorzaamde hem. 24 Alle aanvoerders van het leger, de helden en alle zonen van koning David beloofden koning Salomo dat ze hem trouw zouden zijn. 25 Heel Israël bewonderde Salomo als koning. De Heer maakte hem rijker dan de koningen van Israël die vóór hem over Israël geregeerd hadden.
26 Zo heeft David, de zoon van Isaï, geregeerd over heel Israël. 27 In totaal heeft hij 40 jaar over Israël geregeerd. In Hebron regeerde hij zeven jaar, in Jeruzalem 33 jaar. 28 Hij stierf toen hij heel oud was. Hij was rijk en beroemd geworden. Na hem werd zijn zoon Salomo koning van Israël. 29 Alles wat koning David heeft gedaan, aan het begin van zijn regering en later, staat opgeschreven in de boeken van de profeten Samuel, Natan en Gad. 30 Zij hebben opgeschreven wat hij allemaal heeft gedaan, wat hem en Israël allemaal overkomen is en wat er met andere koninkrijken is gebeurd.
