7 And David dwelt in the castle; therefore they called it the city of David.
8 And he built the city round about, even from Millo round about: and Joab repaired the rest of the city.
9 So David waxed greater and greater: for the Lord of hosts was with him.

7 David then took up residence in the fortress, and so it was called the City of David. 8 He built up the city around it, from the terraces[a](A) to the surrounding wall, while Joab restored the rest of the city. 9 And David became more and more powerful,(B) because the Lord Almighty was with him.
