掃羅之死
10 非利士人與以色列人交戰，以色列人敗逃，許多人在基利波山被殺。 2 非利士人窮追掃羅及其眾子，殺了掃羅的兒子約拿單、亞比拿達和麥基舒亞。 3 掃羅周圍的戰鬥非常猛烈，他被弓箭手發現、射成重傷， 4 就對為他拿兵器的人說：「拔出你的刀來刺死我吧！免得那些未受割禮的人來凌辱我。」但拿兵器的人非常害怕，不敢動手，掃羅就自己伏刀自盡。 5 拿兵器的人看見掃羅已死，也伏刀自盡了。 6 這樣，掃羅和他的三個兒子及全家都死了。 7 住在山谷中的以色列人看見以色列軍敗逃、掃羅及其眾子已死，都棄城而逃。於是，非利士人佔領了那些城邑。 8 次日，非利士人來剝陣亡者的衣物，發現掃羅及其眾子橫屍基利波山， 9 就剝下掃羅的盔甲，割下他的頭顱，並派人到非利士四境向他們的偶像和民眾通告消息。 10 他們將掃羅的盔甲放在他們的神廟裡，把他的頭顱掛在大袞神廟中。 11 基列·雅比人聽見非利士人對掃羅的所作所為， 12 他們所有的勇士就去把掃羅和他兒子們的屍體運到雅比，葬在雅比的橡樹下，並禁食七天。 13 掃羅死了，因為他對耶和華不忠，不聽從祂的教誨，甚至去求問靈媒， 14 而不求問耶和華。因此，耶和華使他被殺，把王位交給了耶西的兒子大衛。

10 Les Philistins livrèrent bataille à Israël, et les hommes d'Israël prirent la fuite devant les Philistins et tombèrent morts sur la montagne de Guilboa.
2 Les Philistins poursuivirent Saül et ses fils, et tuèrent Jonathan, Abinadab et Malki Schua, fils de Saül.
3 L'effort du combat porta sur Saül; les archers l'atteignirent et le blessèrent.
4 Saül dit alors à celui qui portait ses armes: Tire ton épée, et transperce-m'en, de peur que ces incirconcis ne viennent me faire subir leurs outrages. Celui qui portait ses armes ne voulut pas, car il était saisi de crainte. Et Saül prit son épée, et se jeta dessus.
5 Celui qui portait les armes de Saül, le voyant mort, se jeta aussi sur son épée, et mourut.
6 Ainsi périrent Saül et ses trois fils, et toute sa maison périt en même temps.
7 Tous ceux d'Israël qui étaient dans la vallée, ayant vu qu'on avait fui et que Saül et ses fils étaient morts, abandonnèrent leurs villes pour prendre aussi la fuite. Et les Philistins allèrent s'y établir.
8 Le lendemain, les Philistins vinrent pour dépouiller les morts, et ils trouvèrent Saül et ses fils tombés sur la montagne de Guilboa.
9 Ils le dépouillèrent, et emportèrent sa tête et ses armes. Puis ils firent annoncer ces bonnes nouvelles par tout le pays des Philistins à leurs idoles et au peuple.
10 Ils mirent les armes de Saül dans la maison de leur dieu, et ils attachèrent son crâne dans le temple de Dagon.
11 Tout Jabès en Galaad ayant appris tout ce que les Philistins avaient fait à Saül,
12 tous les hommes vaillants se levèrent, prirent le corps de Saül et ceux de ses fils, et les transportèrent à Jabès. Ils enterrèrent leur os sous le térébinthe, à Jabès, et ils jeûnèrent sept jours.
13 Saül mourut, parce qu'il se rendit coupable d'infidélité envers l'Éternel, dont il n'observa point la parole, et parce qu'il interrogea et consulta ceux qui évoquent les morts.
14 Il ne consulta point l'Éternel; alors l'Éternel le fit mourir, et transféra la royauté à David, fils d'Isaï.

Saul Takes His Life(A)
10 Now the Philistines fought against Israel; the Israelites fled before them, and many fell dead on Mount Gilboa. 2 The Philistines were in hot pursuit of Saul and his sons, and they killed his sons Jonathan, Abinadab and Malki-Shua. 3 The fighting grew fierce around Saul, and when the archers overtook him, they wounded him.
4 Saul said to his armor-bearer, “Draw your sword and run me through, or these uncircumcised fellows will come and abuse me.”
But his armor-bearer was terrified and would not do it; so Saul took his own sword and fell on it. 5 When the armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he too fell on his sword and died. 6 So Saul and his three sons died, and all his house died together.
7 When all the Israelites in the valley saw that the army had fled and that Saul and his sons had died, they abandoned their towns and fled. And the Philistines came and occupied them.
8 The next day, when the Philistines came to strip the dead, they found Saul and his sons fallen on Mount Gilboa. 9 They stripped him and took his head and his armor, and sent messengers throughout the land of the Philistines to proclaim the news among their idols and their people. 10 They put his armor in the temple of their gods and hung up his head in the temple of Dagon.(B)
11 When all the inhabitants of Jabesh Gilead(C) heard what the Philistines had done to Saul, 12 all their valiant men went and took the bodies of Saul and his sons and brought them to Jabesh. Then they buried their bones under the great tree in Jabesh, and they fasted seven days.
13 Saul died(D) because he was unfaithful(E) to the Lord; he did not keep(F) the word of the Lord and even consulted a medium(G) for guidance, 14 and did not inquire of the Lord. So the Lord put him to death and turned(H) the kingdom(I) over to David son of Jesse.

10 I Filistei attaccarono Israele; gli Israeliti fuggirono davanti ai Filistei e caddero, colpiti a morte, sul monte Gelboe. 2 I Filistei inseguirono molto da vicino Saul e i suoi figli e uccisero Giònata, Abinadàb e Malchisùa, figli di Saul. 3 La battaglia si riversò tutta su Saul; sorpreso dagli arcieri, fu ferito da tali tiratori. 4 Allora Saul disse al suo scudiero: «Prendi la spada e trafiggimi; altrimenti verranno quei non circoncisi e infieriranno contro di me». Ma lo scudiero, in preda a forte paura, non volle. Saul allora, presa la spada, vi si gettò sopra. 5 Anche lo scudiero, visto che Saul era morto, si gettò sulla spada e morì. 6 Così finì Saul con i tre figli; tutta la sua famiglia perì insieme. 7 Quando tutti gli Israeliti della valle constatarono che i loro erano fuggiti e che erano morti Saul e i suoi figli, abbandonarono le loro città e fuggirono. Vennero i Filistei e vi si insediarono.
8 Il giorno dopo i Filistei andarono a spogliare i cadaveri e trovarono Saul e i suoi figli che giacevano sul monte Gelboe. 9 Lo spogliarono asportandogli il capo e le armi; quindi inviarono per tutto il paese filisteo ad annunziare la vittoria ai loro idoli e al popolo. 10 Depositarono le sue armi nel tempio del loro dio; il teschio l'inchiodarono nel tempio di Dagon.
11 Quando gli abitanti di Iabes vennero a sapere ciò che i Filistei avevano fatto a Saul, 12 tutti i loro guerrieri andarono a prelevare il cadavere di Saul e i cadaveri dei suoi figli e li portarono in Iabes; seppellirono le loro ossa sotto la quercia in Iabes, quindi digiunarono per sette giorni.
13 Così Saul morì a causa della sua infedeltà al Signore, perché non ne aveva ascoltato la parola e perché aveva evocato uno spirito per consultarlo. 14 Non aveva consultato il Signore; per questo il Signore lo fece morire e trasferì il regno a Davide figlio di Iesse.
