8 万军之耶和华的话传给了我，说： 2 “万军之耶和华说，‘我对锡安充满了火热的爱，我为锡安而大发烈怒。 3 我要回到锡安，住在耶路撒冷。耶路撒冷必被称为忠信之城，我的山必被称为圣山。这是万军之耶和华说的。 4 必再次有年纪老迈、手拿拐杖的男女坐在耶路撒冷的街上。这是万军之耶和华说的。 5 街上必到处都是玩耍的男女孩童。’ 6 万军之耶和华说，‘那时，这事在这些余民看来是不可能的，但在我看来毫不稀奇。这是万军之耶和华说的。’ 7 万军之耶和华说，‘看啊，我要从东方和西方救出我的子民， 8 带他们回到耶路撒冷居住。他们要做我的子民，我要做他们信实和公义的上帝。’
9 “万军之耶和华说，‘在奠立万军之耶和华殿的根基那天，众先知都在场。现今听见这些先知之言的人啊，你们要刚强，以便可以建造圣殿！ 10 那日之前，人和牲畜都得不到工钱。在敌人的威胁下，人们出入没有平安。因为我使众人彼此为敌。 11 如今我不会像从前那样对待这些余民了。这是万军之耶和华说的。 12 因为他们必平安地撒种，葡萄树必结果子，土地必出产五谷，天必降下甘霖，我要把这些福气赐给这些余民。 13 犹大家和以色列家啊，从前你们在列国中是受咒诅的，现在我要拯救你们，使你们成为蒙福的人。你们不要惧怕，要刚强。’
14 “万军之耶和华说，‘从前你们的祖先惹我发怒，我决定毫不留情地降祸给他们。这是万军之耶和华说的。 15 现在我决定赐福给耶路撒冷和犹大家。你们不要惧怕。 16 你们所当做的是彼此说真话，在城门口秉公断案，使人和睦。 17 不可设阴谋彼此相害，不可以起假誓为乐，因为这些都是我所憎恶的。这是耶和华说的。’”
18 万军之耶和华的话传给了我，说： 19 “万军之耶和华说，‘四月、五月、七月、十月的禁食必成为犹大家欢喜快乐的日子和幸福的节期。因此，你们要喜爱真理与和平。 20 各族的人和各城的居民都必来这里。这是万军之耶和华说的。 21 这一城的居民必到那一城，说，我们快去向耶和华求恩，去寻求万军之耶和华吧！我自己也去。 22 各民族和各强国必来耶路撒冷寻求万军之耶和华，向耶和华求恩。 23 那时，十个来自列国、讲不同语言的人必拉住一个犹大人的衣角，说，让我们跟你们同去吧，因为我们听说上帝与你们同在。这是万军之耶和华说的。’”

8 万军之耶和华的话临到我说： 2 “万军之耶和华这样说：‘我十分热爱锡安；我为锡安大发烈怒。’ 3 耶和华这样说：‘我要返回锡安，住在耶路撒冷里面；耶路撒冷必称为“信实之城”，万军之耶和华的山必称为“圣山”。’
4 “万军之耶和华这样说：‘年老的男女必再坐在耶路撒冷的街上；他们因为年纪老迈，各人都手拿拐杖。 5 城里的街上必满了男孩女孩，在街上嬉戏。’
6 “万军之耶和华这样说：‘在那些日子，这事在这余剩的子民眼中被视为不可能的奇迹，在我眼中也视为不可能吗？’这是万军之耶和华的宣告。
7 “万军之耶和华这样说：‘看哪！我必从日出之地和日落之地拯救我的子民。 8 我要把他们领回来，让他们住在耶路撒冷；他们要作我的子民，我也要凭着信实和公义作他们的 神。’
9 “万军之耶和华这样说：‘在万军之耶和华的殿奠立了根基，预备建造的日子，你们这些在当时听过众先知亲口宣告这些话的人，现在你们的手务要刚强。 10 因为在那些日子以前，人作工是没有工价的，牲畜也是这样，并且因有敌人的缘故，人出入就没有平安，我也使众人互相攻击。 11 但现在我待这些余剩的子民必不像从前的日子那样（这是万军之耶和华的宣告）。 12 因为五谷必生长繁茂，葡萄树必结果子，地土必出土产，天也必降下甘露，我要使这些余剩的子民承受这一切。 13 犹大家和以色列家啊！你们从前怎样在万国中成为可咒诅的，将来，我也要怎样拯救你们，使你们成为祝福。你们不要惧怕，你们的手务要刚强。’
14 “万军之耶和华这样说：‘你们的列祖惹我发怒的时候，我曾定意降祸在你们身上，并没有改变心意（这是万军之耶和华说的）； 15 照样，在这些日子里，我定意恩待耶路撒冷和犹大家。你们不要惧怕。 16 你们应当行这些事：你们各人要与邻舍说真话，在你们的城门口要凭着诚实施行带来和平的审判。 17 你们各人不要心里图谋恶事，彼此陷害，也不可好起假誓，因为这些都是我所恨恶的。’这是耶和华的宣告。”
哀哭变成欢乐
18 万军之耶和华的话临到我，说： 19 “万军之耶和华这样说：‘四月的禁食、五月的禁食、七月的禁食和十月的禁食都要变为犹大家欢喜快乐的日子和欢乐的节期。所以，你们要喜爱诚实与和平。’
万民寻求主恩
20 “万军之耶和华这样说：‘将来还有万族的人和多个城市的居民要来。 21 一城的居民到另一城去，对他们说：我们快去恳求耶和华施恩，求告万军之耶和华；我自己也去。 22 必有很多的民族和强大的国家前来，在耶路撒冷求告万军之耶和华，恳求他施恩。’
23 “万军之耶和华这样说：‘在那些日子，必有十个说不同方言，来自列国的人，紧抓住一个犹大人的衣襟，说：让我们与你们同去吧，因为我们听见 神与你们同在。’”

8 The word of the Lord of Armies came: 2 The Lord of Armies says this: “I am extremely jealous(A) for Zion; I am jealous for her with great wrath.” 3 The Lord says this: “I will return to Zion and live in Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the Faithful City;(B) the mountain of the Lord of Armies will be called the Holy Mountain.” 4 The Lord of Armies says this: “Old men and women will again sit along the streets of Jerusalem, each with a staff in hand because of advanced age. 5 The streets of the city will be filled with boys and girls playing in them.” 6 The Lord of Armies says this: “Though it may seem impossible to the remnant of this people in those days, should it also seem impossible to me?”—this is the declaration of the Lord of Armies. 7 The Lord of Armies says this: “I will save my people from the land of the east and the land of the west.[a] 8 I will bring them back(C) to live in Jerusalem. They will be my people, and I will be their faithful and righteous God.”(D)
9 The Lord of Armies says this: “Let your hands be strong, you who now hear these words that the prophets spoke when the foundations were laid for the rebuilding of the temple, the house of the Lord of Armies. 10 For prior to those days neither people nor animals had wages. There was no safety from the enemy for anyone who came or went, for I turned everyone against his neighbor. 11 But now, I will not treat the remnant of this people as in the former days”—this is the declaration of the Lord of Armies. 12 “For they will sow in peace: the vine will yield its fruit, the land will yield its produce, and the skies will yield their dew. I will give the remnant of this people all these things as an inheritance.(E) 13 As you have been a curse among the nations,(F) house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you, and you will be a blessing.(G) Don’t be afraid; let your hands be strong.” 14 For the Lord of Armies says this: “As I resolved to treat you badly when your ancestors provoked me to anger, and I did not relent,” says the Lord of Armies, 15 “so I have resolved again in these days to do what is good to Jerusalem and the house of Judah.(H) Don’t be afraid. 16 These are the things you must do: Speak truth to one another; make true and sound decisions within your city gates. 17 Do not plot evil(I) in your hearts against your neighbor,(J) and do not love perjury,(K) for I hate all this”—this is the Lord’s declaration.
18 Then the word of the Lord of Armies came to me: 19 The Lord of Armies says this: “The fast of the fourth month,(L) the fast of the fifth, the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth(M) will become times of joy, gladness, and cheerful festivals for the house of Judah. Therefore, love truth and peace.” 20 The Lord of Armies says this: “Peoples will yet come, the residents of many cities; 21 the residents of one city will go to another, saying: Let’s go at once to plead for the Lord’s favor and to seek the Lord of Armies. I am also going. 22 Many peoples and strong nations will come to seek the Lord of Armies in Jerusalem and to plead for the Lord’s favor.”(N) 23 The Lord of Armies says this: “In those days, ten men from nations of every language will grab the robe of a Jewish man tightly, urging: Let us go with you,(O) for we have heard that God is with you.”

2 Thus saith the Lord of hosts: I have been jealous for Sion with a great jealousy, and with a great indignation have I been jealous for her.
3 Thus saith the Lord of hosts: I am returned to Sion, and I will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called The city of truth, and the mountain of the Lord of hosts, The sanctified mountain.
4 Thus saith the Lord of hosts: There shall yet old men and old women dwell in the streets of Jerusalem: and every man with his staff in his hand through multitude of days.
5 And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls, playing in the streets thereof.
6 Thus saith the Lord of hosts: If it seem hard in the eyes of the remnant of this people in those days: shall it be hard in my eyes, saith the Lord of hosts?
7 Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Behold I will save my people from the land of the east, and from the land of the going down of the sun.
8 And I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God in truth and in justice.
9 Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Let your hands be strengthened, you that hear in these days these words by the mouth of the prophets, in the day that the house of the Lord of hosts was founded, that the temple might be built.
10 For before those days there was no hire for men, neither was there hire for beasts, neither was there peace to him that came in, nor to him that went out, because of the tribulation: and I let all men go every one against his neighbour.
11 But now I will not deal with the remnant of this people according to the former days, saith the Lord of hosts.
12 But there shall be the seed of peace: the vine shall yield her fruit, and the earth shall give her increase, and the heavens shall give their dew: and I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things.
13 And it shall come to pass, that as you were a curse among the Gentiles, O house of Juda, and house of Israel: so will I save you, and you shall be a blessing: fear not, let your hands be strengthened.
14 For thus saith the Lord of hosts: As I purposed to afflict you, when your fathers had provoked me to wrath, saith the Lord,
15 And I had no mercy: so turning again I have thought in these days to do good to the house of Juda, and Jerusalem: fear not.
16 These then are the things, which you shall do: Speak ye truth every one to his neighbour: judge ye truth and judgment of peace in your gates.
17 And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his friend: and love not a false oath: for all these are the things that I hate, saith the Lord.
18 And the word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying:
19 Thus saith the Lord of hosts: The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth shall be to the house of Juda, joy, and gladness, and great solemnities: only love ye truth and peace.
20 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, until people come, and dwell in many cities,
21 And the inhabitants go one to another, saying: Let us go, and entreat the face of the Lord, and let us seek the Lord of hosts: I also will go.
22 And many peoples, and strong nations shall come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem, and to entreat the face of the Lord.
23 Thus saith the Lord of hosts: In those days, wherein ten men of all languages of the Gentiles shall take hold, and shall hold fast the shirt of one that is a Jew, saying: We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.
