4 不要效法你们的列祖那样，从前的先知呼唤他们：万军之耶和华这样说，你们要回转，离开你们的恶道和恶行。他们却不听从，也不理会我（这是耶和华的宣告）。 5 你们的列祖在哪里呢？那些先知能永远活着吗？ 6 然而我吩咐我的仆人众先知的话与条例，不是已报应在你们的列祖身上吗？所以他们就回转，说：万军之耶和华定意按着我们所作所行的对付我们，他已经这样行了。’”

4 不要像你们的祖先一样。以前的先知曾呼唤他们要听从万军之耶和华的话，改邪归正，停止作恶，他们却置若罔闻，不予理会。这是耶和华说的。 5 现在你们的祖先在哪里呢？那些先知能活到永远吗？ 6 然而，我吩咐我仆人——众先知的训言和律例岂不应验在你们祖先的头上了吗？后来他们悔改了，说，万军之耶和华按着我们的所作所为报应了我们，正如祂所言。’”

4 Do not be like your ancestors,(A) to whom the earlier prophets(B) proclaimed: This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘Turn from your evil ways(C) and your evil practices.’ But they would not listen or pay attention to me,(D) declares the Lord.(E) 5 Where are your ancestors now? And the prophets, do they live forever? 6 But did not my words(F) and my decrees, which I commanded my servants the prophets, overtake your ancestors?(G)
“Then they repented and said, ‘The Lord Almighty has done to us what our ways and practices deserve,(H) just as he determined to do.’”(I)
