第二天清早,亚实突人起来,看见大衮神像仆倒在地,俯伏在耶和华的约柜面前。他们就把大衮神像竖立起来,放回原处。 再次日早晨,他们起来的时候,看见大衮神像又仆倒在地,俯伏在耶和华的约柜面前,大衮的头和双手也都在门槛上折断了,只剩下大衮的身体。 因此大衮的祭司和所有进亚实突大衮庙的人,都不踏大衮庙的门槛,直到现在。

And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the Lord. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again.

And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the Lord; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him.

Therefore neither the priests of Dagon, nor any that come into Dagon's house, tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod unto this day.
