11 耶和華就派耶路·巴力、比但、耶弗他和撒母耳[a]從周圍的敵人手中救你們，使你們安然居住。 12 可是你們看到亞捫王拿轄來攻擊你們，就對我說，『不行，我們要有一個王來統治我們。』其實你們的上帝耶和華就是你們的王。 13 現在，你們所求所選的王在這裡，耶和華為你們立了一位王。

11 Then the Lord sent Jerub-Baal,[a](A) Barak,[b](B) Jephthah(C) and Samuel,[c](D) and he delivered you from the hands of your enemies all around you, so that you lived in safety.
12 “But when you saw that Nahash(E) king(F) of the Ammonites was moving against you, you said to me, ‘No, we want a king to rule(G) over us’—even though the Lord your God was your king. 13 Now here is the king(H) you have chosen, the one you asked(I) for; see, the Lord has set a king over you.
