Titus 2
Contemporary English Version
Instructions for Different Groups of People
2 Titus, you must teach only what is correct. 2 Tell the older men to have self-control and to be serious and sensible. Their faith, love, and patience must never fail.
3 Tell the older women to behave as those who love the Lord should. They must not gossip about others or be slaves of wine. They must teach what is proper, 4 so the younger women will be loving wives and mothers. 5 Each of the younger women must be sensible and kind, as well as a good homemaker, who puts her own husband first. Then no one can say insulting things about God's message.
6 Tell the young men to have self-control in everything.
7 Always set a good example for others. Be sincere and serious when you teach. 8 Use clean language that no one can criticize. Do this, and your enemies will be too ashamed to say anything against you.
9 Tell slaves always to please their owners by obeying them in everything. Slaves must not talk back to their owners 10 or steal from them. They must be completely honest and trustworthy. Then everyone will show great respect for what is taught about God our Savior.
God's Kindness and the New Life
11 God has shown us undeserved grace by coming to save all people. 12 He taught us to give up our wicked ways and our worldly desires and to live decent and honest lives in this world. 13 We are filled with hope, as we wait for the glorious return of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.[a] 14 (A) He gave himself to rescue us from everything evil and to make our hearts pure. He wanted us to be his own people and to be eager to do right.
15 Teach these things, as you use your full authority to encourage and correct people. Make sure you earn everyone's respect.
Footnotes
- 2.13 the glorious return of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ: Or “the glorious return of our great God and our Savior Jesus Christ” or “the return of Jesus Christ, who is the glory of our great God and Savior.”

Proclaim Sound Doctrine
2 But as for you, proclaim the things which are fitting for (A)sound doctrine. 2 (B)Older men are to be [a](C)temperate, dignified, self-controlled, (D)sound (E)in faith, in love, in [b]perseverance.
3 Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, (F)not malicious gossips nor (G)enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, 4 so that they may [c]encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be sensible, pure, (H)workers at home, kind, being (I)subject to their own husbands, (J)so that the word of God will not be dishonored.
6 Likewise urge (K)the young men to be [d]sensible; 7 in all things show yourself to be (L)an example of good deeds, with [e]purity in doctrine, dignified, 8 sound in speech which is beyond reproach, (M)so that the opponent will be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us.
9 Urge [f](N)slaves to be subject to their own masters in everything, to be pleasing, not [g]argumentative, 10 not stealing, but showing all good faith so that they will adorn the doctrine of (O)God our Savior in every respect.
11 For the grace of God has (P)appeared, [h](Q)bringing salvation to all people, 12 [i]instructing us to deny ungodliness and (R)worldly desires and (S)to live sensibly, righteously, and in a godly manner (T)in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and the (U)appearing of the glory of [j](V)our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, 14 who (W)gave Himself for us (X)to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to (Y)purify for Himself a (Z)people for His own possession, (AA)eager for good deeds.
15 These things speak and [k](AB)exhort, and (AC)rebuke with all authority. (AD)No one is to disregard you.

Tito 2
Biblia del Jubileo
2 ¶ Pero tú, habla lo que conviene a la sana doctrina:
2 Que los viejos sean templados, venerables, prudentes, sanos en la fe, en la caridad, en la tolerancia.
3 Las ancianas, asimismo, se distingan en un porte santo; no calumniadoras, no dadas al mucho vino, maestras de honestidad;
6 Exhorta asimismo a los jóvenes a que sean templados;
7 mostrándote en todo por ejemplo de buenas obras; en doctrina haciendo ver integridad, seriedad, pureza,
8 palabra sana, e irreprensible; que el adversario se avergüence, no teniendo ningún mal que decir de vosotros.
9 Exhorta a los esclavos a que sean sujetos a sus señores, que agraden en todo, no respondones;
Titus 2
King James Version
2 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
6 Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.
7 In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,
8 Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
9 Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;
10 Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
