1 耶穌基督的僕人和使徒西門．彼得，寫信給那靠著我們的 神和救主耶穌基督的義，得著和我們同樣寶貴信心的人。 2 願恩惠平安，因你們確實認識 神和我們的主耶穌，多多加給你們。
信徒應當追求長進
3 神以他神聖的能力，因著我們確實認識那位用自己的榮耀和美善呼召我們的，把一切有關生命和敬虔的事，都賜給了我們。 4 藉著這些，他把又寶貴又極大的應許賜給了我們，好叫你們既然逃脫世上因私慾而來的敗壞，就可以分享 神的本性。 5 正因這緣故，你們要多多努力：有了信心，又要增添美德；有了美德，又要增添知識； 6 有了知識，又要增添節制；有了節制，又要增添忍耐；有了忍耐，又要增添敬虔； 7 有了敬虔，又要增添弟兄的愛；有了弟兄的愛，還要增添神聖的愛。 8 因為你們有了這幾樣，並且繼續增長，就必叫你們在確實認識我們的主耶穌基督上，不至於閒懶不結果子。 9 人若沒有這幾樣，就是近視，簡直是瞎眼的，忘記他過去的罪已經得了潔淨。 10 所以弟兄們，要更加努力，使你們所蒙的呼召和揀選堅定不移；你們若實行這幾樣，就決不會跌倒。 11 這樣，你們就得著充分的裝備，可以進入我們的主和救主耶穌基督永遠的國。
12 因此，你們雖然已經知道這些事，又在你們已有的真道上得到堅固，我還要時常提醒你們。 13 趁著我還在世上（“在世上”原文作“在這帳棚”）的時候，我認為應當提醒你們，使你們常常警醒， 14 因為我知道我離世（“離世”原文作“離開這帳棚”）的時候快到了，正如我們的主耶穌基督清楚指示我的。 15 我也要努力，使你們在我去世以後，還時常追念這些事。
信徒和先知都為基督作見證
16 我們從前把我們主耶穌基督的大能和降臨的事告訴你們，並不是隨從巧妙捏造傳奇的故事，我們卻是親眼看見過他威榮的人。 17 因為他從父 神得著尊貴榮耀的時候，在極顯赫的榮光中，有這樣的聲音對他說：“這是我的愛子，我所喜悅的。” 18 這從天上發出來的聲音，是我們和他同在聖山上的時候，親自聽見過的。 19 我們還有先知的話，是更確實的。你們要特別注意它，好像注意照在暗處的明燈，直到天將破曉，晨星在你們心裡出現的時候。 20 最要緊的，你們應當知道：聖經所有的預言，都不是先知自己的見解， 21 因為預言不是出於人意的，而是人受聖靈的感動，說出從 神而來的話。

1 Simon[a] Petru, rob şi apostol al lui Isus Hristos, către cei ce au căpătat o credinţă de acelaşi(A) preţ cu a noastră, prin dreptatea Dumnezeului şi Mântuitorului nostru Isus Hristos: 2 Harul(B) şi pacea să vă fie înmulţite prin cunoaşterea lui Dumnezeu şi a Domnului nostru Isus Hristos! 3 Dumnezeiasca Lui putere ne-a dăruit tot ce priveşte viaţa şi evlavia, prin(C) cunoaşterea Celui ce(D) ne-a chemat prin slava şi puterea Lui, 4 prin(E) care El ne-a dat făgăduinţele Lui nespus de mari şi scumpe, ca prin ele să vă faceţi părtaşi(F) firii dumnezeieşti, după ce aţi fugit(G) de stricăciunea care este în lume prin pofte. 5 De aceea, daţi-vă(H) şi voi toate silinţele ca să uniţi cu credinţa voastră fapta; cu fapta, cunoştinţa(I); 6 cu cunoştinţa, înfrânarea; cu înfrânarea, răbdarea; cu răbdarea, evlavia; 7 cu evlavia, dragostea de fraţi(J); cu dragostea de fraţi, iubirea de oameni. 8 Căci, dacă aveţi din belşug aceste lucruri în voi, ele nu vă vor lăsa să fiţi nici(K) leneşi, nici neroditori în ceea ce priveşte deplina cunoştinţă a Domnului nostru Isus Hristos. 9 Dar cine nu are aceste lucruri este(L) orb, umblă cu ochii închişi şi a uitat că a fost curăţit(M) de vechile lui păcate. 10 De aceea, fraţilor, căutaţi cu atât mai mult să(N) vă întăriţi chemarea şi alegerea voastră, căci, dacă faceţi lucrul acesta, nu veţi(O) aluneca niciodată. 11 În adevăr, în chipul acesta vi se va da din belşug intrare în Împărăţia veşnică a Domnului şi Mântuitorului nostru Isus Hristos. 12 De aceea voi(P) fi gata să vă aduc totdeauna aminte de lucrurile acestea, măcar(Q) că le ştiţi şi sunteţi tari în adevărul pe care-l aveţi. 13 Dar socotesc că este drept, cât(R) voi mai fi în cortul acesta, să(S) vă ţin treji aducându-vă aminte, 14 căci ştiu(T) că dezbrăcarea de cortul meu va veni deodată, după cum mi-a arătat Domnul(U) nostru Isus Hristos. 15 Îmi voi da osteneala, dar, ca şi după moartea mea, să vă puteţi aduce totdeauna aminte de aceste lucruri. 16 În adevăr, v-am făcut cunoscute puterea şi venirea Domnului nostru Isus Hristos, nu întemeindu-ne pe nişte basme(V) meşteşugit alcătuite, ci ca unii care am văzut(W) noi înşine, cu ochii noştri, mărirea Lui. 17 Căci El(X) a primit de la Dumnezeu Tatăl cinste şi slavă, atunci când, din slava minunată, s-a auzit deasupra Lui un glas care zicea: „Acesta este Fiul Meu preaiubit, în care Îmi găsesc plăcerea”. 18 Şi noi înşine am auzit acest glas venind din cer, când eram cu El pe muntele(Y) cel sfânt. 19 Şi avem cuvântul prorociei făcut şi mai tare; la care bine faceţi că luaţi aminte, ca la o(Z) lumină care străluceşte într-un loc întunecos, până se va crăpa de ziuă şi va răsări luceafărul(AA) de dimineaţă în inimile voastre. 20 Fiindcă, mai întâi de toate, să ştiţi că nicio(AB) prorocie din Scriptură nu se tâlcuieşte singură. 21 Căci nicio(AC) prorocie n-a fost adusă prin voia omului; ci(AD) oamenii au vorbit de la Dumnezeu, mânaţi de Duhul Sfânt.

To those who through the righteousness(C) of our God and Savior Jesus Christ(D) have received a faith as precious as ours:
2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance(E) through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.(F)
Confirming One’s Calling and Election
3 His divine power(G) has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him(H) who called us(I) by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises,(J) so that through them you may participate in the divine nature,(K) having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.(L)
5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge;(M) 6 and to knowledge, self-control;(N) and to self-control, perseverance;(O) and to perseverance, godliness;(P) 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.(Q) 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive(R) in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.(S) 9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind,(T) forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.(U)
10 Therefore, my brothers and sisters,[a] make every effort to confirm your calling(V) and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble,(W) 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom(X) of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.(Y)
Prophecy of Scripture
12 So I will always remind you of these things,(Z) even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth(AA) you now have. 13 I think it is right to refresh your memory(AB) as long as I live in the tent of this body,(AC) 14 because I know that I will soon put it aside,(AD) as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.(AE) 15 And I will make every effort to see that after my departure(AF) you will always be able to remember these things.
16 For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power,(AG) but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.(AH) 17 He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”[b](AI) 18 We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.(AJ)
19 We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable,(AK) and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light(AL) shining in a dark place, until the day dawns(AM) and the morning star(AN) rises in your hearts.(AO) 20 Above all, you must understand(AP) that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God(AQ) as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.(AR)
