要主的道快快行开
3 弟兄们，我还有话说，请你们为我们祷告，好叫主的道理快快行开，得着荣耀，正如在你们中间一样； 2 也叫我们脱离无理之恶人的手，因为人不都是有信心。 3 但主是信实的，要坚固你们，保护你们脱离那恶者[a]。 4 我们靠主深信，你们现在是遵行我们所吩咐的，后来也必要遵行。 5 愿主引导你们的心，叫你们爱神，并学基督的忍耐！
不做工的不可吃饭
6 弟兄们，我们奉主耶稣基督的名吩咐你们，凡有弟兄不按规矩而行，不遵守从我们所受的教训，就当远离他。 7 你们自己原知道应当怎样效法我们；因为我们在你们中间，未尝不按规矩而行， 8 也未尝白吃人的饭，倒是辛苦劳碌，昼夜做工，免得叫你们一人受累。 9 这并不是因我们没有权柄，乃是要给你们做榜样，叫你们效法我们。 10 我们在你们那里的时候，曾吩咐你们说：若有人不肯做工，就不可吃饭。 11 因我们听说，在你们中间有人不按规矩而行，什么工都不做，反倒专管闲事。 12 我们靠主耶稣基督吩咐、劝诫这样的人，要安静做工，吃自己的饭。
行善不可丧志
13 弟兄们，你们行善不可丧志。 14 若有人不听从我们这信上的话，要记下他，不和他交往，叫他自觉羞愧。 15 但不要以他为仇人，要劝他如弟兄。
16 愿赐平安的主随时随事亲自给你们平安！愿主常与你们众人同在！
17 我保罗亲笔问你们安——凡我的信都以此为记，我的笔迹就是这样。 18 愿我们主耶稣基督的恩常与你们众人同在！

3 最后，弟兄们，请为我们祷告，好叫主的道也像在你们那里一样快快传开，得着荣耀， 2 也使我们能够脱离那些不讲理的恶人，因为不是人人都有信心。 3 主是信实的，他必坚定你们，保护你们脱离那恶者。 4 我们靠着主深深相信，你们现在以及将来都会遵行我们所吩咐的， 5 愿主引导你们的心，使你们有 神的爱和基督的坚忍。
不可游手好闲
6 弟兄们，我们奉主耶稣基督的名吩咐你们，凡是游手好闲的弟兄，不按着你们从我们所领受的教训去行，就应当远离他。 7 你们自己本来就知道应当怎样效法我们，因为我们在你们中间并没有游手好闲， 8 也没有白吃过谁的饭，反而辛苦劳碌，昼夜作工，免得加重你们任何一人的负担。 9 这不是因为我们没有权利，而是要给你们作榜样，好让你们效法我们。 10 我们在你们那里的时候，曾经吩咐过你们，如果有人不肯作工，就不可吃饭。 11 因为我们听说，你们中间有人游手好闲，甚么工也不作，反倒专管闲事。 12 我们靠着主耶稣基督，吩咐劝戒这样的人，要安静作工，自食其力。 13 弟兄们，你们行善不可灰心。 14 如果有人不听从我们这封信上的训勉，要把这个人记下来，不可和他来往，好叫他自己觉得惭愧。 15 但不要把他看作仇敌，却要劝他好象劝弟兄一样。

16 愿赐平安的主亲自随时随地赐平安给你们。愿主与你们众人同在。
17 我保罗亲笔问候你们。这是我每一封信的记号；我的笔迹就是这样。 18 愿我们主耶稣基督的恩惠与你们众人同在。

Pray for Us
3 And now, brothers, pray for us. Pray that the Lord’s teaching will continue to spread quickly. And pray that people will give honor to that teaching, just as happened with you. 2 And pray that we will be protected from bad and evil people. (Not all people believe in the Lord.)
3 But the Lord is faithful. He will give you strength and protect you from the Evil One. 4 The Lord makes us feel sure that you are doing the things we told you. And we know that you will continue to do those things. 5 We pray that the Lord will lead your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s patience.
The Duty to Work
6 Brothers, by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ we command you to stay away from any believer who refuses to work. People who refuse to work are not following the teaching that we gave them. 7 You yourselves know that you should live as we live. We were not lazy when we were with you. 8 And when we ate another person’s food, we always paid for it. We worked and worked so that we would not be a trouble to any of you. We worked night and day. 9 We had the right to ask you to help us. But we worked to take care of ourselves so that we would be an example for you to follow. 10 When we were with you, we gave you this rule: “If anyone will not work, he will not eat.”
11 We hear that some people in your group refuse to work. They do nothing. And they busy themselves in other people’s lives. 12 We command those people to work quietly and earn their own food. In the Lord Jesus Christ we beg them to do this. 13 Brothers, never become tired of doing good.
14 If anyone does not obey what we tell you in this letter, then remember who he is. Do not associate with him. Then maybe he will feel ashamed. 15 But do not treat him as an enemy. Warn him as a brother.
Final Words
16 We pray that the Lord of peace will give you peace at all times and in every way. May the Lord be with all of you.
17 I am Paul, and I end this letter now in my own handwriting. All my letters have this to show they are from me. This is the way I write.
18 May our Lord Jesus Christ show all of you his grace.
