帖撒罗尼迦前书 3

派遣提摩太
3 所以，我们既然不能再等了，就决意单独留在雅典， 2 并派了我们的弟兄——在基督的福音工作上的神的同工[a]提摩太，好在信仰上坚固你们、鼓励你们， 3 免得有人在这些患难中动摇。因为你们自己知道，我们要受患难是注定的。 4 事实上，我们还在你们那里的时候，早就不断地告诉你们，我们将要受患难，这果然应验了，就像你们所知道的那样。 5 为此，我既然不能再等了，就派提摩太[b]去，要知道你们的信仰怎样，恐怕那试探者诱惑了你们，我们所劳苦的落了空。
提摩太带来的安慰
6 但是，现在提摩太从你们那里来到我们这里，带来了你们信仰和爱心的好消息，并且说你们总是对我们怀着美好的记忆，切切地想见到我们，就像我们也渴望见到你们那样。 7 所以弟兄们，在我们的一切困苦和患难中，由于你们的缘故，藉着你们的信心[c]，我们就受到安慰， 8 因为，你们如果在主里站立得稳，我们如今就真的[d]活了。 9 我们因着你们，在我们的神面前就喜乐；为这一切的喜乐，我们到底能用什么样的感谢为你们回报神呢？ 10 我们日夜迫切祈求，要见你们的面，并且要补全你们在信仰上的缺欠。
为教会祈求
11 愿神我们的父和我们的主耶稣[e]，亲自引导我们的道路到你们那里去。 12 愿主使你们彼此之间的爱，以及对众人的爱都能增加、充实满溢，就像我们对你们的爱那样； 13 但愿他这样坚固你们的心，使你们在我们主耶稣[f]与他所有的圣徒一起来临的时候，在神我们的父面前，在圣洁中是无可指责的！阿们。[g]

3 因此，当我们再也等不下去的时候，就决定留在雅典， 2 而派提摩太到你们那里去了。他是我们的兄弟，是和我们一起为上帝传播基督福音的同事。我们派他去是为了加强和鼓舞你们的信仰， 3 免得有人受到目前的困难干扰，因为你们自己知道我们注定会遇到困难。 4 实际上，我们和你们在一起时就一直告诉你们，我们会遇到困难的。正像你们所知的那样，情况果然如此。 5 所以，我再也不能等了，便派提摩太去了你们那里，为了是要了解你们的信仰。因为我害怕你们受魔鬼的诱惑，使我们的工作成为徒劳。

3 Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left at Athens alone;
2 And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith:
3 That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto.
4 For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know.
5 For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.
6 But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:
7 Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith:
8 For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord.
9 For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God;
10 Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?
11 Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you.
12 And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:
13 To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.
