4 相反地， 神既然考验过我们，把福音委托给我们，我们就传讲，不像是讨人欢心的，而是讨那察验我们心思的 神的喜悦。 5 我们从来不说奉承的话，这是你们知道的， 神可以作证，我们并没有借故起贪心， 6-7 也没有向你们或别人求取人的荣誉。我们身为基督使徒的，虽然有权利受人尊敬，但我们在你们中间却是谦和的，就像母亲乳养自己的孩子。

4 On the contrary, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel.(A) We are not trying to please people(B) but God, who tests our hearts.(C) 5 You know we never used flattery, nor did we put on a mask to cover up greed(D)—God is our witness.(E) 6 We were not looking for praise from people,(F) not from you or anyone else, even though as apostles(G) of Christ we could have asserted our authority.(H)

6 Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.
