耶稣在真帐幕里做执事
8 我们所讲的事，其中第一要紧的，就是我们有这样的大祭司，已经坐在天上至大者的宝座右边， 2 在圣所，就是真帐幕里做执事。这帐幕是主所支的，不是人所支的。 3 凡大祭司都是为献礼物和祭物设立的，所以这位大祭司也必须有所献的。 4 他若在地上，必不得为祭司，因为已经有照律法献礼物的祭司。 5 他们供奉的事本是天上事的形状和影像，正如摩西将要造帐幕的时候，蒙神警戒他，说：“你要谨慎，做各样的物件都要照着在山上指示你的样式。”
做更美之约的中保
6 如今耶稣所得的职任是更美的，正如他做更美之约的中保。这约原是凭更美之应许立的。 7 那前约若没有瑕疵，就无处寻求后约了。 8 所以主指责他的百姓说[a]：“日子将到，我要与以色列家和犹大家另立新约， 9 不像我拉着他们祖宗的手，领他们出埃及的时候，与他们所立的约。因为他们不恒心守我的约，我也不理他们。这是主说的。”
神不再记念以色列家的罪愆
10 主又说：“那些日子以后，我与以色列家所立的约乃是这样：我要将我的律法放在他们里面，写在他们心上；我要做他们的神，他们要做我的子民。 11 他们不用各人教导自己的乡邻和自己的弟兄说：‘你该认识主’，因为他们从最小的到至大的，都必认识我。 12 我要宽恕他们的不义，不再记念他们的罪愆。” 13 既说新约，就以前约为旧了；但那渐旧渐衰的，就必快归无有了。

Jesus är överstepräst i ett nytt förbund
8 Huvudpunkten i det vi vill säga är alltså att vi har en överstepräst som sitter på högra sidan av Majestätets tron i himlen[a] 2 och tjänar i helgedomen, i det sanna förbundstältet, som inte är rest av människor utan av Herren själv.
3 En översteprästs uppgift är att bära fram gåvor och offer, och därför måste också denne bära fram något. 4 Om han fortfarande var här på jorden skulle han inte vara präst, för här finns det redan präster som bär fram de offer lagen kräver. 5 Men dessa tjänar i en helgedom som bara är en ofullständig skuggbild av den som finns i himlen. När Mose skulle resa upp tältet, sa ju Gud till honom: ”Var noga med att göra allt efter den förebild som visats dig på berget.”[b] 6 Kristus däremot har ett överlägset prästämbete, för han är medlare i ett bättre förbund, som vilar på bättre löften.
7 Om det första förbundet hade varit utan brist, hade det inte behövt ersättas med ett annat. 8 Men Gud anklagade folket för dess brister och sa:
”Det ska komma en tid, säger Herren,
då jag ingår ett nytt förbund med Israels och Juda folk,[c]
9 inte ett sådant förbund som jag ingick med deras förfäder,
när jag tog dem vid handen och förde dem ut ur Egypten.
De höll ju inte fast vid mitt förbund,
och därför brydde jag mig inte om dem längre, säger Herren.
10 Men detta är det förbund jag efter denna tid
ska ingå med Israels folk, säger Herren:
Jag ska lägga mina lagar i deras sinnen
och skriva dem i deras hjärtan.
Jag ska vara deras Gud,
och de ska vara mitt folk.
11 Då ska ingen längre behöva undervisa någon annan och säga:
’Lär känna Herren’,
för då ska alla känna mig,
från den minste till den störste.
12 För jag ska förlåta dem deras ondska,
och jag ska aldrig mer komma ihåg deras synder.”[d]
13 Han talar alltså om ett nytt förbund, och det betyder att det första är föråldrat, och det gamla och föråldrade ska snart försvinna.

8 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
3 For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.
4 For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:
5 Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.
6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

The New Priestly Service
8 Now this is the main point of the things we are saying: We have such a High Priest, (A)who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, 2 a Minister of (B)the [a]sanctuary and of (C)the true tabernacle which the Lord erected, and not man.
3 For (D)every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore (E)it is necessary that this One also have something to offer. 4 For if He were on earth, He would not be a priest, since there are priests who offer the gifts according to the law; 5 who serve (F)the copy and (G)shadow of the heavenly things, as Moses was divinely instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle. For He said, (H)“See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.” 6 But now (I)He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a (J)better covenant, which was established on better promises.
A New Covenant(K)
7 For if that (L)first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second. 8 Because finding fault with them, He says: (M)“Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— 9 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the Lord. 10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the (N)Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and (O)I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 11 (P)None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, ‘Know the (Q)Lord,’ for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, (R)and their sins [b]and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”
13 (S)In that He says, “A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.
