7 这麦基洗德就是撒冷王,又是至高 神的祭司。亚伯拉罕杀败众王回来的时候,麦基洗德迎接他,并且给他祝福。 2 亚伯拉罕也把自己得来的一切,拿出十分之一来给他。麦基洗德这名字翻译出来,头一个意思就是“公义的王”;其次是“撒冷王”,就是“平安的王”的意思。 3 他没有父亲,没有母亲,没有族谱,也没有生死的记录,而是与 神的儿子相似,永远作祭司。
麦基洗德的祭司职分
4 你们想一想这人是多么伟大啊!祖先亚伯拉罕也要从上等的掳物中,拿出十分之一来给了他。 5 那些领受祭司职分的利未子孙,奉命按照律法向人民,就是自己的弟兄,收取十分之一;虽然他们都是出于亚伯拉罕的。 6 可是那不与他们同谱系的麦基洗德,反而收纳了亚伯拉罕的十分之一,并且给这蒙受应许的人祝福。 7 向来都是位分大的给位分小的祝福,这是毫无疑问的。 8 在这里,收取十分之一的,都是必死的;但在那里,收纳十分之一的,却被证实是一位活着的。 9 并且可以这样说,连那收取十分之一的利未,也透过亚伯拉罕缴纳了十分之一。 10 因为麦基洗德迎接亚伯拉罕的时候,利未还在他祖先的身体里面。

“你永远作祭司,
是照着麦基洗德的体系。”
18 一方面,从前的条例因为软弱,没有用处,就废弃了; 19 (因为律法从来没有使甚么得到完全,)另一方面,它却带来了更美的盼望,借着这盼望,我们就可以亲近 神。
20 此外,还有关于誓言的事。其他成为祭司的,并不是用誓言立的; 21 只有耶稣是用誓言立的,因为那立他的对他说:
“主已经起了誓,
决不改变,
你永远作祭司。”
22 耶稣既然是用誓言立的,就成了更美好的约的保证。 23 一方面,从前那些作祭司的,因为受死亡的限制,不能长久留任,所以人数众多。 24 另一方面,因为耶稣是永远长存的,就拥有他永不更改的祭司职位。 25 因此,那些靠着他进到 神面前的人,他都能拯救到底;因为他长远活着,为他们代求。
26 这样的一位大祭司,对我们本是合适的。他是圣洁、没有邪恶、没有玷污、从罪人中分别出来、高过众天的。 27 他不必像那些大祭司,天天先为自己的罪献祭,然后为人民的罪献祭;因为他献上了自己,就把这事一次而永远的成全了。 28 律法所立的大祭司,都是软弱的人;可是在律法以后,用誓言所立的儿子,却是成为完全直到永远的。

The Messiah is Superior to Melchizedek
7 Now this man Melchizedek, king of Salem and priest of the Most High God, met Abraham and blessed him when he was returning from defeating the kings. 2 Abraham gave Melchizedek[a] a tenth of everything.[b] In the first place, his name means “king of righteousness,” and then he is also king of Salem, that is, “king of peace.” 3 He has no father, mother, or genealogy, no birth date recorded for him, nor a date of death.[c] Like the Son of God, he continues to be a priest forever.
4 Just look at how great this man was! Even Abraham—the patriarch himself—gave him a tenth of what he had captured! 5 The descendants of Levi who accept the priesthood have a commandment in the Law to collect a tenth from the people, that is, from their own brothers, even though they are also descendants of Abraham. 6 But this man, whose descent is not traced from them, collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed the man who had received the promises. 7 It is beyond dispute that the less important person is blessed by the more important person. 8 Mortal men collect tithes, but we are informed by Scripture[d] that[e] Melchizedek[f] keeps on living. 9 One might even say that Levi, who collects the tenth, paid the tenth through Abraham, 10 because Levi[g] was still inside his ancestor when Melchizedek met him.
11 Now if perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood—for on this basis the people received the Law—what further need would there be to speak of appointing another kind of priest according to the order of Melchizedek, not one according to the order of Aaron? 12 When a change in the priesthood takes place, there must also be a change in the Law. 13 For the person we are talking about belonged to a different tribe, and no one from that tribe has ever served[h] at the altar. 14 Furthermore, it is obvious that our Lord was a descendant of Judah, and Moses said nothing about priests coming from that tribe. 15 This point is even more obvious in that another priest who is like Melchizedek has appeared 16 who was appointed to be a priest,[i] not on the basis of a genealogical registry, but rather on the power of an indestructible life. 17 For it is declared about him,
“You are a priest forever
according to the order of Melchizedek.”[j]
18 Indeed, because it was weak and ineffective, the former commandment has been annulled, 19 since the Law made nothing perfect, and a better hope is presented, by which we approach God.
20 Now none of this happened without an oath. Others became priests without any oath, 21 but Jesus[k] became a priest[l] with an oath when God[m] told him,
22 In this way, Jesus has become the guarantor of a better covenant.
23 There have been many priests, since each one of them had to stop serving in office when he died. 24 But because Jesus[p] lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. 25 Therefore, because he always lives to intercede for them, he is able to save completely[q] those who come to God through him.
26 We need such a high priest—one who is holy, innocent, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. 27 He has no need to offer sacrifices every day like high priests do, first for his own sins and then for those of the people, since he did this once for all when he sacrificed himself. 28 For the Law appoints as high priests men who are weak, but the promised oath, which came after the Law, results in a Son who is eternally perfect.

The Nature of Melchizedek’s Priesthood
7 Now this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, met Abraham as he was returning from defeating the kings and blessed him.[a] 2 To him[b] also Abraham apportioned a tithe[c] of everything.[d] His name first means[e] king of righteousness, then king of Salem,[f] that is, king of peace. 3 Without father, without mother, without genealogy, he has neither beginning of days nor end of life but is like the son of God, and he remains a priest for all time. 4 But see how great he must be, if[g] Abraham the patriarch gave him a tithe[h] of his plunder. 5 And those of the sons of Levi who receive the priestly office[i] have authorization according to the law to collect a tithe from the people, that is, from their fellow countrymen,[j] although they too are descendants of Abraham.[k] 6 But Melchizedek[l] who does not share their ancestry[m] collected a tithe[n] from Abraham and blessed[o] the one who possessed the promise. 7 Now without dispute the inferior is blessed by the superior, 8 and in one case tithes are received by mortal men, while in the other by him who is affirmed to be alive. 9 And it could be said that Levi himself, who receives tithes, paid a tithe through Abraham. 10 For he was still in his ancestor Abraham’s loins[p] when Melchizedek met him.
Jesus and the Priesthood of Melchizedek
11 So if perfection had in fact been possible through the Levitical priesthood—for on that basis[q] the people received the law—what further need would there have been for another priest to arise, said to be in the order of Melchizedek and not in Aaron’s order? 12 For when the priesthood changes, a change in the law must come[r] as well. 13 Yet the one these things are spoken about belongs to[s] a different tribe, and no one from that tribe[t] has ever officiated at the altar. 14 For it is clear that our Lord is descended from Judah, yet Moses said nothing about priests in connection with that tribe. 15 And this is even clearer if another priest arises in the likeness of Melchizedek, 16 who has become a priest not by a legal regulation about physical descent[u] but by the power of an indestructible life. 17 For here is the testimony about him:[v] “You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.”[w] 18 On the one hand a former command is set aside[x] because it is weak and useless,[y] 19 for the law made nothing perfect. On the other hand a better hope is introduced, through which we draw near to God. 20 And since[z] this was not done without a sworn affirmation—for the others have become priests without a sworn affirmation, 21 but Jesus[aa] did so[ab] with a sworn affirmation by the one who said to him, “The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind, ‘You are a priest forever’”[ac]— 22 accordingly Jesus has become the guarantee[ad] of a better covenant. 23 And the others[ae] who became priests were numerous, because death prevented them[af] from continuing in office,[ag] 24 but he holds his priesthood permanently since he lives forever. 25 So he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. 26 For it is indeed fitting for us to have such a high priest: holy, innocent, undefiled, separate from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. 27 He has no need to do every day what those priests do, to offer sacrifices first for their own sins and then for the sins of the people, since he did this in offering himself once for all. 28 For the law appoints as high priests men subject to weakness,[ah] but the word of solemn affirmation that came after the law appoints a son made perfect forever.
