3 同蒙天召的圣洁弟兄啊，你们应当思想我们所认为使者、为大祭司的耶稣。 2 他为那设立他的尽忠，如同摩西在神的全家尽忠一样。 3 他比摩西算是更配多得荣耀，好像建造房屋的比房屋更尊荣。 4 因为房屋都必有人建造，但建造万物的就是神。 5 摩西为仆人，在神的全家诚然尽忠，为要证明将来必传说的事； 6 但基督为儿子，治理神的家。我们若将可夸的盼望和胆量坚持到底，便是他的家了。
当警戒硬心
7 圣灵有话说：“你们今日若听他的话， 8 就不可硬着心，像在旷野惹他发怒、试探他的时候一样。 9 在那里，你们的祖宗试我探我，并且观看我的作为有四十年之久。 10 所以，我厌烦那世代的人，说：‘他们心里常常迷糊，竟不晓得我的作为。’ 11 我就在怒中起誓说：‘他们断不可进入我的安息。’” 12 弟兄们，你们要谨慎，免得你们中间或有人存着不信的恶心，把永生神离弃了。 13 总要趁着还有今日，天天彼此相劝，免得你们中间有人被罪迷惑，心里就刚硬了。 14 我们若将起初确实的信心坚持到底，就在基督里有份了。 15 经上说：“你们今日若听他的话，就不可硬着心，像惹他发怒的日子一样。”
不信之人不能享受安息
16 那时听见他话惹他发怒的是谁呢？岂不是跟着摩西从埃及出来的众人吗？ 17 神四十年之久又厌烦谁呢？岂不是那些犯罪尸首倒在旷野的人吗？ 18 又向谁起誓，不容他们进入他的安息呢？岂不是向那些不信从的人吗？ 19 这样看来，他们不能进入安息是因为不信的缘故了。

Jésus supérieur à Moïse
3 C’est pourquoi, frères et sœurs, vous qui faites partie du peuple saint et qu’il a appelés à avoir part aux biens célestes, fixez vos pensées sur Jésus, l’apôtre et grand-prêtre de la foi que nous reconnaissons comme vraie. 2 Il est fidèle[a] à celui qui l’a établi dans ces fonctions, comme autrefois Moïse l’a été dans toute la maison de Dieu[b]. 3 En effet, Jésus a été jugé digne d’une gloire bien plus grande que celle de Moïse, tout comme l’architecte qui a construit une maison reçoit plus d’honneur que la maison elle-même. 4 Il n’y a pas de maison sans constructeur et celui qui a construit toutes choses, c’est Dieu.
5 Moïse, pour sa part, a été fidèle dans toute la maison de Dieu, mais en tant que serviteur, chargé de rendre témoignage à ce que Dieu allait dire par la suite. 6 Christ, lui, est fidèle en tant que Fils, à la tête de sa maison. Et sa maison, c’est nous, si du moins nous gardons la pleine assurance et la fierté que nous donne notre espérance[c].
Le repos de Dieu pour ceux qui croient
7 C’est pourquoi, comme le dit l’Esprit Saint :
Aujourd’hui, ╵si vous entendez la voix de Dieu,
8 ne vous endurcissez pas, ╵comme l’ont fait vos ancêtres ╵lorsqu’ils se sont révoltés
et qu’ils ont, dans le désert, ╵voulu me forcer la main.
9 Ce jour-là, ╵vos ancêtres m’ont provoqué,
voulant me forcer la main, ╵bien qu’ils m’aient vu à l’action
10 pendant quarante ans.
C’est pourquoi[d] ╵j’ai été plein de colère ╵contre cette génération-là.
Et j’ai dit : Leur cœur ╵s’égare sans cesse.
Oui, ils n’ont fait aucun cas ╵des voies que je leur prescris.
11 C’est pourquoi, dans ma colère, ╵j’ai fait ce serment :
ils n’entreront pas dans le lieu de repos ╵que j’avais prévu pour eux[e]!
12 Prenez donc bien garde, frères et sœurs, que personne parmi vous n’ait le cœur mauvais et incrédule au point de se détourner du Dieu vivant. 13 Mais encouragez-vous les uns les autres, jour après jour, aussi longtemps qu’on peut dire aujourd’hui, afin qu’aucun d’entre vous ne se laisse tromper par le péché et ne s’endurcisse. 14 En effet, nous sommes associés à Christ, si toutefois nous conservons fermement, et jusqu’au bout, l’assurance que nous avons eue dès le début, 15 et cela aussi longtemps qu’il est dit :
Aujourd’hui, ╵si vous entendez la voix de Dieu,
ne vous endurcissez pas, ╵comme l’ont fait vos ancêtres ╵lorsqu’ils se sont révoltés[f].
16 En effet, qui sont ceux qui se sont révoltés contre Dieu après avoir entendu sa voix ? N’est-ce pas tous ceux qui étaient sortis d’Egypte sous la conduite de Moïse ? 17 Et contre qui Dieu a-t-il été plein de colère pendant quarante ans ? N’est-ce pas contre ceux qui avaient péché et dont les cadavres sont tombés dans le désert[g] ? 18 Enfin, à qui a-t-il fait ce serment : ils n’entreront pas dans le lieu de repos que j’avais prévu pour eux ? N’est-ce pas à ceux qui avaient refusé de lui obéir ?
19 Nous voyons donc qu’ils n’ont pas pu entrer dans le lieu de repos parce qu’ils n’ont pas fait confiance à Dieu.

3 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.
3 For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.
4 For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.
5 And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;
6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?
18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?
19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

Moses a Servant, Christ a Son
3 Therefore, holy brethren, who share in a heavenly call, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession. 2 He was faithful to him who appointed him, just as Moses also was faithful in[a] God’s house. 3 Yet Jesus has been counted worthy of as much more glory than Moses as the builder of a house has more honor than the house. 4 (For every house is built by some one, but the builder of all things is God.) 5 Now Moses was faithful in all God’s house as a servant, to testify to the things that were to be spoken later, 6 but Christ was faithful over God’s[b] house as a son. And we are his house if we hold fast our confidence and pride in our hope.[c]
Warning against Unbelief
7 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says,
“Today, when you hear his voice,
8 do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,
on the day of testing in the wilderness,
9 where your fathers put me to the test
and saw my works for forty years.
10 Therefore I was provoked with that generation,
and said, ‘They always go astray in their hearts;
they have not known my ways.’
11 As I swore in my wrath,
‘They shall never enter my rest.’”[d]
12 Take care, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. 13 But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we share in Christ, if only we hold our first confidence firm to the end, 15 while it is said,
“Today, when you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”
16 Who were they that heard and yet were rebellious? Was it not all those who left Egypt under the leadership of Moses? 17 And with whom was he provoked forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom did he swear that they should never enter his rest, but to those who were disobedient? 19 So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.
