信心的偉人
11 信，是對所盼望的事有把握，對看不見的事有確據。 2 古人因著這信曾受到了讚許。
3 因著信，我們明白宇宙[a]是藉著神的話語形成的，從而明白那看得見的事是從看不見的事造出來的。
4 因著信，亞伯向神獻上的祭物比該隱所獻的更好，就藉著信受到了讚許成為義人，因為神讚許他的禮物。他雖然死了，但藉著信仍然說話。
5 因著信，以諾被接去而沒有經歷死亡，人也找不到他，因為神把他接去了。[b]原來他被接去以前，已經蒙神喜悅而受到讚許。 6 沒有信，就不可能蒙神喜悅，因為來到神面前的人，必須相信神存在，並且相信他報償那些尋求他的人。
7 因著信，挪亞在那還看不見的事上得了神的指示，就動了敬畏的心，建造了一隻方舟，以至於他的家人獲救。藉著信，他定了世界的罪，自己也繼承了從信而來的義。
8 因著信，亞伯拉罕蒙召的時候，就順從出發，往他將要得為繼業的地方去。他出發的時候，還不知道往哪裡去。 9 因著信，他做為外人客居在應許之地，住在帳幕裡，與同一個應許的共同繼承人以撒、雅各一樣， 10 因為他等待著那座有根基的城；那城是神所設計、所建造的。
11 同樣因著信，不能生育的撒拉，自己雖然過了年齡，還是領受了懷孕生子的能力，原來她認為向她應許的那一位[c]是信實的。 12 所以從一個如同已經死了的人，就生出了許多人，像天空的星那樣眾多，像海邊的沙那樣無法數算。
13 這些人都懷著信仰死去，沒有得到那些所應許的，卻遠遠地看見[d]並且歡迎它們，又承認自己在地上是異鄉人，是寄居的。 14 實際上，說這樣話的人，是表明他們在尋求一個家鄉。 15 如果他們真是想念自己所離開的地方，他們還有機會回去； 16 但如今，他們所嚮往的是一個更美好的，就是在天上的家鄉。因此，神被稱為「他們的神」並不以為恥；原來他已經為他們預備了一座城。
17 因著信，亞伯拉罕在受考驗的時候，獻上了以撒；這位領受了各樣應許的人，獻上了自己的獨生兒子—— 18 關於這兒子，神曾經說過：「從以撒生的，將被稱為你的後裔。」[e] 19 亞伯拉罕認為，神真的能使人從死人中復活。故此，用比喻來說，他真的從死人中得回了以撒。
20 同樣因著信，以撒指著將來的事祝福了雅各和以掃。 21 因著信，雅各臨死的時候，祝福了約瑟的每個兒子，又倚著自己的杖頭敬拜神[f]。 22 因著信，約瑟臨終的時候，提到以色列子民出埃及的事，也為自己的骸骨留下了遺言。
23 因著信，摩西出生以後，被父母藏了三個月，原來他們看見孩子俊美；他們不怕王的命令。 24 因著信，摩西長大以後，拒絕被稱為法老女兒的兒子。 25 他寧願選擇與神的子民同受虐待，也不願享受暫時的罪中之樂。 26 他把為基督受的責罵看做是比埃及的財寶更大的財富，因為他注目那將來的報償。
27 因著信，他不怕王的憤怒，離開了埃及，因為他恆心忍耐，如同看見了不可見的那一位。 28 因著信，他立[g]了逾越節和灑血的禮，免得那毀滅長子[h]的碰以色列人[i]。 29 因著信，他們走過了紅海，像走過乾地那樣；埃及人試著這樣做，就被吞滅了。
30 因著信，他們圍繞耶利哥城七天，城牆就倒塌了。 31 因著信，妓女瑞荷在平安中接納了偵察的人，沒有和那些不肯信從的人一同滅亡。
32 我還要再說什麼呢？如果我一一述說基甸、巴拉克、參孫、耶弗達、大衛、撒母耳和先知們的事，時間就不夠了。 33 他們藉著信，征服了列國，行了公義，獲得了那些應許；他們堵住了獅子的口， 34 滅了烈火的威力，逃脫了刀劍的鋒刃，從軟弱中得以剛強，在戰爭中得以強大，擊敗了外國的軍隊。 35 有些婦女得回了那些從死人中復活的親人；有些人受酷刑至死也不肯接受釋放，為要得到更美好的復活； 36 另有些人經受了戲弄、鞭打的試煉；還有些人受了捆鎖、監禁的試煉； 37 他們被石頭砸死，被鋸成兩截，[j]被刀劍殺死，披著綿羊、山羊的皮四處漂泊，遭受窮困、患難和虐待。 38 他們是這世界不配有的。他們在曠野、山嶺、岩穴、地洞中漂流無定。
39 這些人雖然都藉著信受到了讚許，還是沒有領受到所應許的， 40 因為神為我們預備了更美好的事，使他們沒有我們，就不能得以完全。

11 ¶ Es pues la fe, la sustancia de las cosas que se esperan, la demostración de las cosas que no se ven.
2 Porque por ésta alcanzaron testimonio los ancianos.
3 Por la fe entendemos haber sido compuestos los siglos por la palabra de Dios, siendo hecho lo que se ve, de lo que no se veía.
4 ¶ Por la fe, Abel ofreció a Dios mayor sacrificio que Caín; por la cual alcanzó testimonio de que era justo, dando Dios testimonio a sus presentes, y difunto, aún habla por ella.
5 Por la fe, Enoc fue traspuesto para no ver muerte, y no fue hallado, porque lo traspuso Dios; y antes que fuera traspuesto tuvo testimonio de haber agradado a Dios.
6 Pero sin fe es imposible agradar a Dios, porque es necesario que el que a Dios se allega, crea que existe, y que es galardonador de los que le buscan.
7 Por la fe, Noé habiendo recibido revelación de cosas que aun no se veían, aparejó con mucho cuidado el arca en que su casa se salvara; arca por la cual condenó al mundo, y fue hecho heredero de la justicia que es por la fe.
8 Por la fe, Abraham siendo llamado, oyó para salir al lugar que había de recibir por heredad; y salió sin saber a dónde iba.
9 Por la fe, habitó en la tierra prometida como en tierra ajena, morando en cabañas con Isaac y Jacob, herederos juntamente de la misma promesa;
10 porque esperaba la ciudad con fundamentos, el artífice y hacedor de la cual es Dios.
11 Por la fe también la misma Sara, (siendo estéril) recibió fuerza para concebir generación; y dio a luz aun fuera del tiempo de la edad, porque creyó ser fiel el que lo había prometido.
12 Por lo cual también de uno, y ese ya muerto, salieron como las estrellas del cielo en multitud, y como la arena innumerable que está a la orilla del mar.
13 En fe murieron todos éstos sin haber recibido las promesas; sino mirándolas de lejos, y creyéndolas, y abrazándolas; y confesando que eran peregrinos y advenedizos sobre la tierra.
14 Porque los que esto dicen, claramente dan a entender que buscan su patria natural.
15 Que si se acordaran de aquella de donde salieron, cierto tenían tiempo para volverse;
16 mas empero deseaban la mejor, es a saber, la celestial, por lo cual Dios no se avergüenza de llamarse Dios de ellos; porque les había aparejado ciudad.
17 Por la fe, ofreció Abraham a Isaac cuando fue probado; y ofrecía al unigénito en el cual había recibido las promesas,
18 (habiéndole sido dicho: En Isaac te será llamada simiente);
19 pensando dentro de sí, que aun de los muertos es Dios poderoso para levantar, por lo cual también le volvió a recibir por figura.
20 Por la fe también bendijo Isaac a Jacob y a Esaú de lo que habían de ser.
21 Por la fe, Jacob muriéndose bendijo a cada uno de los hijos de José; y adoró estribando sobre la punta de su vara.
22 Por la fe, José, muriéndose, se acordó de la partida de los hijos de Israel; y dio mandamiento acerca de sus huesos.
23 Por la fe, Moisés, nacido, fue escondido por sus padres por tres meses, porque le vieron hermoso niño; y no temieron el mandamiento del rey.
24 Por la fe, Moisés, hecho ya grande, rehusó ser hijo de la hija del Faraón,
25 escogiendo antes ser afligido con el pueblo de Dios, que gozar de comodidades temporales de pecado.
26 Teniendo por mayores riquezas el vituperio del Cristo que los tesoros de los egipcios, porque miraba a la remuneración.
27 Por la fe, dejó a Egipto no temiendo la ira del rey; porque como aquel que ve al Invisible se esforzó.
28 Por la fe, celebró la pascua y el derramamiento de la sangre, para que el que mataba los primogénitos no los tocara.
29 Por la fe, pasaron el mar Bermejo como por tierra seca, lo cual probando los egipcios, fueron consumidos.
30 Por la fe, cayeron los muros de Jericó con rodearlos siete días.
31 Por la fe, Rahab la ramera no pereció juntamente con los desobedientes habiendo recibido a los espías con paz.
32 ¶ ¿Y qué más digo? Porque el tiempo me faltará contando de Gedeón, de Barac, de Sansón, de Jefté, de David, de Samuel, y de los profetas,
33 que por fe ganaron reinos, obraron justicia, alcanzaron promesas, taparon las bocas de los leones,
34 apagaron fuegos impetuosos, evitaron filo de espada, convalecieron de enfermedades, fueron hechos fuertes en batallas, trastornaron campos de enemigos extraños;
35 las mujeres recibieron sus muertos por resurrección, unos fueron estirados, menospreciando la vida, para ganar mejor resurrección.
36 Otros experimentaron vituperios, y azotes; y a más de esto prisiones y cárceles.
37 Otros fueron apedreados, otros cortados en piezas, otros tentados, otros muertos a espada; otros anduvieron perdidos cubiertos de pieles de ovejas y de cabras, pobres, angustiados, maltratados,
38 de los cuales el mundo no era digno; errantes por los desiertos, por los montes, por las cuevas y por las cavernas de la tierra.
39 Y todos éstos, aprobados por testimonio de la fe, no recibieron la promesa,
40 proveyendo Dios alguna cosa mejor para nosotros, que aquellos no fueran perfeccionados sin nosotros.
Hebrews 11

11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.
3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
11 Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
12 Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.
13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
14 For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.
15 And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.
16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.
17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:
19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.
20 By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come.
21 By faith Jacob, when he was a dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph; and worshipped, leaning upon the top of his staff.
22 By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones.
23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king's commandment.
24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter;
25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.
27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
28 Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them.
29 By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned.
30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.
31 By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.
32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions.
34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
38 (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.
39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.
