7 耶書亞、巴尼、示利比、雅憫、亞谷、沙比太、荷第雅、瑪西雅、基利他、亞撒利雅、約撒拔、哈難、毗萊雅和利未人使百姓明白律法；百姓都站在自己的地方。 8 他們清清楚楚地念 神的律法書，講明意思，使百姓明白所念的。
9 尼希米省長、以斯拉祭司文士，和教導百姓的利未人對眾百姓說：「今日是耶和華—你們 神的聖日，不要悲哀，也不要哭泣。」這是因為眾百姓聽見律法書上的話都哭了。

7 耶书亚、巴尼、示利比、雅悯、亚谷、沙比太、荷第雅、玛西雅、基利他、亚撒利雅、约撒拔、哈难、毗莱雅和利未人帮助民众明白律法，当时民众都站在自己的地方。 8 他们宣读上帝的律法书，并解释清楚，使民众明白所宣读的。
9 全体民众听到律法书上的话都哭了。尼希米省长、律法教师以斯拉祭司和教导民众的利未人对他们说：“今天是你们上帝耶和华的圣日，不要悲哀、哭泣。”

7 The Levites(A)—Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan and Pelaiah—instructed(B) the people in the Law while the people were standing there. 8 They read from the Book of the Law of God, making it clear[a] and giving the meaning so that the people understood what was being read.
9 Then Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and teacher of the Law, and the Levites(C) who were instructing the people said to them all, “This day is holy to the Lord your God. Do not mourn or weep.”(D) For all the people had been weeping as they listened to the words of the Law.
