尼希米記 8:5-12

5 以斯拉站在高處，他在全體會眾面前一打開書卷，他們都站了起來。 6 以斯拉稱頌偉大的上帝耶和華，全體民眾都舉手應聲說：「阿們！阿們！」他們又面伏於地，俯伏敬拜耶和華。 7 耶書亞、巴尼、示利比、雅憫、亞谷、沙比太、荷第雅、瑪西雅、基利他、亞撒利雅、約撒拔、哈難、毗萊雅和利未人幫助民眾明白律法，當時民眾都站在自己的地方。 8 他們宣讀上帝的律法書，並解釋清楚，使民眾明白所宣讀的。
9 全體民眾聽到律法書上的話都哭了。尼希米省長、律法教師以斯拉祭司和教導民眾的利未人對他們說：「今天是你們上帝耶和華的聖日，不要悲哀、哭泣。」 10 尼希米又說：「你們去吃肥美的肉，喝甘甜的酒，並分些給一無所有的人，因為今天是我們主的聖日。不要悲傷，因為從耶和華而來的喜樂就是你們的力量。」 11 利未人使全體民眾安靜，說：「請安靜，因為今天是聖日。不要悲傷。」 12 於是，全體民眾去吃喝，並分給他人，非常歡喜，因為他們明白了教導給他們的話。

Nehemiah 8:5-12
King James Version
5 And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for he was above all the people;) and when he opened it, all the people stood up:
6 And Ezra blessed the Lord, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the Lord with their faces to the ground.
7 Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law: and the people stood in their place.
8 So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.
9 And Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is holy unto the Lord your God; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.
10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength.
11 So the Levites stilled all the people, saying, Hold your peace, for the day is holy; neither be ye grieved.
12 And all the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared unto them.
