4 参巴拉听说我们正在重建城墙，非常愤怒，就嘲笑犹太人， 2 当着他的同僚和撒玛利亚军兵的面说：“这群弱小的犹太人在做什么呢？要重建城墙吗？要献祭吗？要在一日之间建好吗？要用废墟中烧过的石头来建造吗？”
3 他身旁的多比雅说：“他们建的石墙，一只狐狸上去就能踩倒！”
4 我祷告说：“我们的上帝啊，求你垂听，因为我们正在被人耻笑。求你使他们对我们的凌辱归到他们自己头上，使他们被掳到外邦。 5 不要遮掩他们的恶行，也不要从你面前涂抹他们的罪恶，因为他们在这些建造的人面前惹你发怒。”
6 众人全心做工，把整个城墙连接起来，高达原来的一半。

4 But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we builded the wall, he was wroth, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.
2 And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?
3 Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, Even that which they build, if a fox go up, he shall even break down their stone wall.
4 Hear, O our God; for we are despised: and turn their reproach upon their own head, and give them for a prey in the land of captivity:
5 And cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before thee: for they have provoked thee to anger before the builders.
6 So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work.
