16 摩西岳父的后代基尼人和犹大人一同离开棕树城[a],到犹大南部旷野的亚拉得附近,跟当地人一起居住。 17 之后,犹大人随西缅人一起攻打洗法城内的迦南人,彻底毁灭了那城。因此那城叫何珥玛[b] 18 犹大人又夺取了迦萨、亚实基伦和以革伦三座城邑及周围地区。 19 耶和华与犹大人同在。他们攻占了山区,却没能赶走平原的居民,因为那里的人有铁战车。 20 照摩西的吩咐,迦勒得到了希伯仑。他把亚衲三族的人从那里赶走。 21 便雅悯人没有赶走居住在耶路撒冷的耶布斯人,耶布斯人至今仍和他们住在一起。

11 From there they advanced against the people living in Debir(A) (formerly called Kiriath Sepher).

12 And Caleb said, “I will give my daughter Aksah in marriage to the man who attacks and captures Kiriath Sepher.” 13 Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother, took it; so Caleb gave his daughter Aksah to him in marriage.

14 One day when she came to Othniel, she urged him[a] to ask her father for a field. When she got off her donkey, Caleb asked her, “What can I do for you?”

15 She replied, “Do me a special favor. Since you have given me land in the Negev, give me also springs of water.” So Caleb gave her the upper and lower springs.(B)

16 The descendants of Moses’ father-in-law,(C) the Kenite,(D) went up from the City of Palms[b](E) with the people of Judah to live among the inhabitants of the Desert of Judah in the Negev near Arad.(F)

17 Then the men of Judah went with the Simeonites(G) their fellow Israelites and attacked the Canaanites living in Zephath, and they totally destroyed[c] the city. Therefore it was called Hormah.[d](H) 18 Judah also took[e] Gaza,(I) Ashkelon(J) and Ekron—each city with its territory.

19 The Lord was with(K) the men of Judah. They took possession of the hill country,(L) but they were unable to drive the people from the plains, because they had chariots fitted with iron.(M) 20 As Moses had promised, Hebron(N) was given to Caleb, who drove from it the three sons of Anak.(O) 21 The Benjamites, however, did not drive out(P) the Jebusites, who were living in Jerusalem;(Q) to this day the Jebusites live there with the Benjamites.
