巴比倫的下場
18 之後，我看見另一位執掌大權的天使從天降下，他的榮光照亮了大地。 2 他用強有力的聲音喊著說：
「巴比倫大城倒塌了！倒塌了！
她成了鬼魔的住處、
各樣污鬼的監獄和一切可憎的不潔鳥獸的牢籠！
3 因為列國都被她荒淫的烈酒灌醉了。
地上的君王曾經與她通姦，
地上的商人也因她窮奢極侈的生活而發了財。」
4 我聽見天上又有一個聲音說：
「我的子民啊，離開那城，
以免沾染她的罪惡，
受她所受的災禍。
5 因為她已經罪惡滔天，
上帝沒有忘記她一切的不義。
6 她怎樣待人，
你們也要怎樣待她，
要按她所做的加倍地報應她，
用她調酒的杯加倍地調給她喝。
7 她過去怎樣自炫自耀、
奢華荒淫，
現在也要讓她怎樣痛苦哀傷。
因為她心裡說，
『我貴為女王，不是寡婦，
絕不會經歷哀傷。』
8 所以在一天之內，
她的災禍，就是死亡、
哀傷和饑荒要同時臨到她身上。
她要被火燒盡，
因為審判她的主上帝能力偉大。
9 「那些曾與她通姦享樂的君王目睹焚燒她的煙，必為她哭泣哀號。 10 他們對她所受的災禍充滿恐懼，就遠遠地站著說，
『強大堅固的巴比倫城啊，
真悲慘！真悲慘！
因為審判頃刻間臨到你了。』
11 「地上的商人也為她哀傷，因為再也沒有人購買他們的貨物了。 12 他們的金、銀、寶石、珍珠、細麻布、紫布、絲綢、朱紅布、各樣香木、象牙器具，貴重木材、銅、鐵、大理石製品， 13 以及肉桂、荳蔻、香料、香膏、乳香、酒、油、細麵粉、小麥、牛、羊、馬、車、僕婢和人口都沒有人購買了。 14 他們呼喊，『巴比倫啊！你貪愛的美物已離你而去了，一切珍饈百味、奢侈華麗的東西都消失殆盡，無影無蹤。』
15 「靠販賣這些貨物給她而致富的商人對她所受的災禍充滿恐懼，就站在遠處為她哀傷哭號， 16 說，『身穿紫色和朱紅色的細麻布衣服，以黃金、寶石、珍珠為裝飾的大城啊，真悲慘！真悲慘！ 17 因為頃刻間你這一切的繁華都化為烏有了。』所有船主、乘客、水手及靠海為生的人都遠遠地站著， 18 看見燒她的煙，就說，『有哪一座城能與她相比呢？』 19 他們又把塵土撒在頭上，哀傷哭泣，喊著說，
『這大城啊，真悲慘！真悲慘！
所有經營航運的都因她的奢華而發了財，
可是頃刻間她卻淪為廢墟了！』
20 上天啊，
眾聖徒、眾使徒和眾先知啊，
為她的下場歡樂吧！
因為上帝已經向她施行報應，
為你們伸冤了。」
21 這時，有一位大力天使舉起一塊像大磨石的石頭扔進海裡，說：
「巴比倫大城也必這樣被用力扔下去，
消失得無影無蹤。
22 在你那裡，
再也聽不見彈琴作樂、
鳴笛吹號的聲音了，
再也找不到能工巧匠了，
再也聽不到推磨的聲音了，
23 再也看不到閃耀的燈光了，
再也聽不見新婚夫婦的歡笑聲了。
因為你的商人曾經趾高氣揚，
你的邪術曾經迷惑萬國，
24 你的城牆內流滿了眾先知、
眾聖徒和地上一切被殺之人的血。」

स्वर्गदूत द्वारा बाबेल के पतन की घोषणा
18 इसके बाद मैंने एक दूसरे स्वर्गदूत को स्वर्ग से उतरते हुए देखा. वह बहुत ही सामर्थी था. उसके तेज से पृथ्वी चमक उठी. 2 उसने ऊँचे शब्द में घोषणा की:
“गिर गया! गिर गया!
भव्य महानगर बाबेल गिर गया.
अब यह दुष्टात्माओं का घर, अशुद्ध आत्माओं का आश्रय और हर एक अशुद्ध तथा घृणित पक्षी का बसेरा बन गई है.
3 सब राष्ट्रों ने उसके वेश्यागामी के लगन का दाखरस का पान किया है.
पृथ्वी के राजाओं ने उसके साथ वेश्यागामी की है तथा पृथ्वी के व्यापारी उसके भोगविलास के धन से धनी हो गए हैं.”
परमेश्वर की प्रजा का अलग किया जाना.
4 तब मुझे एक अन्य शब्द सुनाई दिया:
“‘मेरी प्रजा उस नगरी से बाहर निकल आओ कि तुम,’
उसके पापों में उसके सहभागी न बनो कि,
उसकी विपत्तियाँ तुम पर न आ पड़ें.
5 उसके पापों का ढ़ेर स्वर्ग तक आ पहुँचा है.
परमेश्वर ने उसके अधर्मों को याद किया है.
6 उसने जैसा किया है तुम भी उसके साथ वैसा ही करो.
उसके अधर्मों के अनुसार उससे दो गुणा बदला लो.
उसने जिस प्याले में मिश्रण तैयार किया है,
तुम उसी में उसके लिए दो गुणा तेज़ मिश्रण तैयार करो.
7 उसने जितनी अपनी प्रशंसा की और उसने जितना भोग विलास किया है,
तुम भी उसे उतनी ही यातना और पीड़ा दो क्योंकि वह मन ही मन कहती है,
‘मैं तो रानी समान विराजमान हूँ—मैं विधवा नहीं हूँ;
मैं कभी विलाप न करूंगी.’
8 यही कारण है कि एक ही दिन में उस पर विपत्ति आ पड़ेगी:
महामारी, विलाप और अकाल.
उसे आग में जला दिया जाएगा, क्योंकि सामर्थी हैं प्रभु परमेश्वर,
जो उसका न्याय करेंगे.
पृथ्वी पर बाबेल के लिए विलाप
9 “तब पृथ्वी के राजा, जो उसके साथ वेश्यागामी में लीन रहे, जिन्होंने उसके साथ भोगविलास किया, उस ज्वाला का धुआँ देखेंगे, जिसमें वह स्वाहा की गई और वे उसके लिए रोएंगे तथा विलाप करेंगे.
10 “उसकी यातना की याद कर डर के मारे दूर खड़े हुए वे कहेंगे:
“‘धिक्कार! धिक्कार, हे महानगरी, सामर्थी महानगरी बाबेल!
धिक्कार है तुझ पर!
घण्टे भर में ही तेरे दण्ड का समय आ पहुँचा है!’
11 “पृथ्वी के व्यापारी उस पर रोते हुए विलाप करेंगे क्योंकि उनकी वस्तुएं अब कोई नहीं खरीदता: 12 सोने, चांदी, कीमती रत्न, मोती, उत्तम मलमल, बैंगनी तथा लाल रेशम, सब प्रकार की सुगन्धित लकड़ी तथा हाथी-दाँत की वस्तुएं, कीमती लकड़ी की वस्तुएं, काँसे, लोहे तथा संगमरमर से बनी हुई वस्तुएं, 13 दालचीनी, मसाले, धूप, मुर्र, लोबान, दाखरस, ज़ैतून का तेल, मैदा, गेहूं, पशुधन, भेड़ें, घोड़े तथा चौपहिया वाहन; दासों तथा मनुष्यों का कोई खरीददार नहीं रहा.
14 “जिस संतुष्टि की तुमने इच्छा की थी, वह अब रही ही नहीं. विलासिता और ऐश्वर्य की सभी वस्तुएं तुम्हें छोड़ कर चली गईं. वे अब तुम्हें कभी न मिल सकेंगी. 15 इन वस्तुओं के व्यापारी, जो उस नगरी के कारण धनवान हो गए, अब उसकी यातना के कारण भयभीत हो दूर खड़े हो रोएंगे और विलाप करते हुए कहेंगे:
16 “‘धिक्कार है! धिक्कार है! हे, महानगरी,
जो उत्तम मलमल के बैंगनी तथा लाल वस्त्र धारण करती थी और स्वर्ण,
कीमती रत्नों तथा मोतियों से दमकती थी!
17 क्षण मात्र में ही उजड़ गया तेरा वैभव!’
“हर एक जलयान स्वामी, हर एक नाविक, हर एक यात्री तथा हर एक, जो अपनी जीविका समुद्र से कमाता है, दूर ही खड़ा रहा. 18 उसे भस्म करती हुई ज्वाला का धुआँ देख वे पुकार उठे, ‘है कहीं इस भव्य महानगरी जैसा कोई अन्य नगर?’ 19 अपने सिर पर धूल डाल, रोते-चिल्लाते, विलाप करते हुए वे कहने लगे:
“‘धिक्कार है! धिक्कार है, तुझ पर भव्य महानगरी,
जिसकी सम्पत्ति के कारण सभी जलयान
स्वामी धनी हो गए,
अब तू घण्टे भर में उजाड़ हो गई है!’
20 “आनन्दित हो हे स्वर्ग!
आनन्दित, हो पवित्र लोग!
प्रेरित तथा भविष्यद्वक्ता!
क्योंकि परमेश्वर ने उसे तुम्हारे साथ
किये दुर्व्यवहार के लिए दण्डित किया है.”
21 इसके बाद एक बलवान स्वर्गदूत ने विशाल चक्की के पाट के समान पत्थर उठा कर समुद्र में प्रचण्ड वेग से फेंकते हुए कहा:
“इसी प्रकार फेंक दिया जाएगा भव्य महानगर बाबेल भी,
जिसका कभी कोई अवशेष तक न मिलेगा.
22 अब से तुझमें गायकों, वीणा,
बाँसुरी तथा तुरही का शब्द कभी सुनाई न पड़ेगा.
अब से किसी भी कारीगर का कोई कार्य तुझ में न पाया जाएगा.
अब से तुझ में चक्की की आवाज़ सुनाई न देगी.
23 अब से तुझ में एक भी दीप न जगमगाएगा,
अब से तुझमें वर और वधू का उल्लसित शब्द भी न सुना जाएगा,
तेरे व्यापारी पृथ्वी के सफल व्यापारी थे.
तेरे जादू ने सभी राष्ट्रों को भरमा दिया था.
24 तुझमें ही भविष्यद्वक्ताओं और
पवित्र लोगों, तथा पृथ्वी पर घात किए गए सभी व्यक्तियों का लहू पाया गया.”

18 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.
2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
6 Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.
7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.
9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,
10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:
12 The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,
13 And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.
14 And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.
15 The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,
16 And saying, Alas, alas that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!
17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,
18 And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!
19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.
20 Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.
21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.
22 And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;
23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.
24 And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.
