問候
1 我是奉上帝旨意作基督耶穌使徒的保羅，與提摩太弟兄寫信給在哥林多的上帝的教會以及亞該亞境內所有的聖徒。
2 願我們的父上帝和主耶穌基督賜給你們恩典和平安！
上帝的安慰
3 我們主耶穌基督的父上帝當受讚美！祂是仁慈的父和賜一切安慰的上帝。 4 我們遭遇任何患難，祂都安慰我們，使我們能夠用祂給我們的安慰去安慰那些在各樣患難中的人。 5 正如我們多受基督所受的苦楚，也靠基督多得安慰。 6 我們遭受患難，是為了使你們得到安慰和拯救；我們得到安慰，也是為了使你們得到安慰，以便你們能忍受像我們所遭遇的諸般苦難。 7 我們對你們堅信不移，因為知道你們既和我們同受患難，也必和我們同得安慰。
8 弟兄姊妹，希望你們知道我們在亞細亞所遭遇的苦難。那時我們承受極大的壓力，超過了我們的極限，甚至連活命的指望都沒了。 9 我們心裡覺得必死無疑，這使我們不倚靠自己，只倚靠使死人復活的上帝。 10 祂曾救我們脫離死亡的威脅，將來還要救我們。我們深信祂必繼續救我們。 11 你們也要用祈禱幫助我們，使恩典藉著許多人的禱告臨到我們，眾人便因此而為我們感恩。

12 我們感到自豪的是：我們本著上帝所賜的聖潔和誠實為人處世，倚靠祂的恩典，不倚靠人的聰明才智，對待你們更是這樣。這一點，我們的良心可以作證。 13-14 我們不寫任何你們讀不懂、不明白的內容。你們現在對我們有幾分認識，但我盼望你們最終完全認識到：當主耶穌再來的日子，你們將以我們為榮，正如我們將以你們為榮一樣。
15 我有這樣的把握，所以早就計劃去你們那裡，使你們有兩次蒙福的機會。 16 我打算從你們那裡去馬其頓，再從馬其頓回到你們那裡，然後你們為我送行前往猶太。 17 我定了這計劃，難道會反覆無常嗎？難道我是意氣用事，出爾反爾嗎？ 18 我在信實的上帝面前保證：我們對你們說的話絕不會忽是忽非！ 19 我和西拉、提摩太在你們當中所傳揚的那位上帝的兒子耶穌基督絕不會忽是忽非，在祂只有「是」。 20 因為上帝的一切應許在基督裡都是確實的，所以我們也是藉著基督說「阿們[a]」，將榮耀歸於上帝。 21 是上帝使我們和你們一同在基督裡信心堅固。祂差遣[b]了我們， 22 在我們身上蓋了祂自己的印記，並讓聖靈住在我們心中作擔保。

保罗感谢上帝
3 感谢上帝，赞美上帝、我们的主耶稣基督之父。上帝是仁慈的父，也是一切慰籍的源泉。 4 每当我们遇到困难时，上帝都会给我们带来慰籍，使我们能够用他赐给我们的慰籍去安慰其他遇难的人们。 5 我们分担了基督的许多苦难，同样，通过基督我们也得到了很大的安慰。 6 如果我们有烦恼，那是为了使你们得到安慰和拯救，如果我们得到安慰，那是为了你们的安慰。这将帮助你们去耐心地忍受我们所遭受的苦难。 7 我们对你们的希望是坚定不移的。因为我们知道，正像你们分担了我们的痛苦一样，你们也会分享我们的慰籍。
8 兄弟们，我们要让你们知道我们在亚西亚时所遭遇到的困难。在那里，我们承受的压力远远超过了我们的承受能力，以至放弃了生存的希望。 9 的确，在我们心里，我们觉得已经接受了死亡的判决。所发生的事使我们不再相信自己，只有信仰能够起死回生的上帝。 10 上帝曾经把我们从死亡的危险中解救出来，并且将继续拯救我们。我们把希望寄托在了他身上。未来他依然会拯救我们。 11 你们能用祈祷来帮助我们，许多人替我们感恩—因为你们众多人的祈祷，上帝把恩赐给了我们。
保罗改变计划
12 这是我们为之而骄傲的，我们的良心作证：我们在世为人，是怀着上帝所赐的一颗朴实、真诚的心，凭上帝的恩典，而非凭世上的种种聪明，对待你们更是如此。 13 我们给你们写的只限于你们能读懂的。我相信你们将会完全彻底地理解我们， 14 就像你们已经部分地理解了我们一样。你们也能为我们感到骄傲，就如在主耶稣再降临的日子里，我们为你们感到骄傲一样。
15 我对此充满了信心，所以我决定先来拜访你们，好让你们受益两次。 16 我的计划曾是在去马其顿的途中拜访你们，然后从马其顿返回时，再到你们那里去，让你们送我去犹太。 17 我做这些计划时反复无常了吗？我用世俗的方式制定计划吗？在说“是，是”的同时，又说“非，非”？

1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, and Timothy [a]our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints that are in the whole of Achaia: 2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Blessed be [b]the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; 4 who comforteth us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort them that are in any affliction, through the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. 5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound unto us, even so our comfort also aboundeth through Christ. 6 But whether we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; or whether we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which worketh in the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: 7 and our hope for you is stedfast; knowing that, as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so also are ye of the comfort. 8 For we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning our affliction which befell us in Asia, that we were weighed down exceedingly, beyond our power, insomuch that we despaired even of life: 9 [c]yea, we ourselves have had the [d]sentence of death within ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raiseth the dead: 10 who delivered us out of so great a death, and will deliver: on whom we have [e]set our hope that he will also still deliver us; 11 ye also helping together on our behalf by your supplication; that, for the gift bestowed upon us by means of many, thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf.
12 For our glorying is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and sincerity of God, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we behaved ourselves in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward. 13 For we write no other things unto you, than what ye read or even acknowledge, and I hope ye will acknowledge unto the end: 14 as also ye did acknowledge us in part, that we are your glorying, even as ye also are ours, in the day of our Lord Jesus.
15 And in this confidence I was minded to come first unto you, that ye might have a second [f]benefit; 16 and by you to pass into Macedonia, and again from Macedonia to come unto you, and of you to be set forward on my journey unto Judaea. 17 When I therefore was thus minded, did I show fickleness? or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be the yea yea and the nay nay? 18 But as God is faithful, our word toward you is not yea and nay. 19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you [g]by us, even [h]by me and Silvanus and Timothy, was not yea and nay, but in him is yea. 20 For how many soever be the promises of God, in him is the yea: wherefore also through him is the Amen, unto the glory of God through us. 21 Now he that establisheth us with you [i]in Christ, and anointed us, is God; 22 [j]who also sealed us, and gave us the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
23 But I call God for a witness upon my soul, that to spare you I forbare to come unto Corinth. 24 Not that we have lordship over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for in [k]faith ye stand fast.
