活的推荐信
3 我们又开始推荐自己吗？难道我们像有些人那样，需要给你们推荐信，或向你们要推荐信吗？ 2 你们就是我们的推荐信，写在我们的[a]心里，被人人所知道、所诵读； 3 因为很明显，你们是基督的书信，由我们所经手；不是用墨写的，而是用永生神的灵写的；不是刻在石版上，而是刻在人的[b]心版上。
因基督而有的能力
4 我们藉着基督，对神有这样的确信， 5 并不是说，我们凭自己配得上把什么算做出于自己；而是说，我们之所以配得上是出于神。 6 他也使我们能够做新约的仆人[c]——不属于律法条文，而属于圣灵；因为律法条文带来死亡，而圣灵却赐予生命。
新约的仆人
7 如果，那以条文刻在石版上、属死亡的服事工作尚且带有荣光——以致以色列子民因为摩西脸上那渐渐消失的荣光，不能注视他的脸—— 8 何况那属圣灵的服事工作，难道不更带有荣光吗？ 9 因为那带来[d]定罪的服事工作尚且有荣光，何况那带来[e]称义的服事工作，难道不更充满了荣光吗？ 10 事实上，在这种情况下，那先前有荣光的，因这无限的荣光，就成了没有荣光的。 11 这样，那渐渐消失的尚且带有荣光，何况这长存的，难道不更带有荣光吗？
12 因此，我们既然怀有这样的盼望，就大有胆量地行事。 13 我们不像摩西那样，他把帕子蒙在脸上，使以色列子民不能注视那渐渐消失的荣光的结局。 14 可是，他们的心思刚硬；事实上，直到今天诵读旧约的时候，同样的帕子仍然存在，没有被揭去，因为那帕子只有[f]在基督里才被除去。 15 的确，直到今天，摩西书无论什么时候被诵读，那帕子仍然盖在他们的心上。 16 可是一个人什么时候归向主，那帕子就被除掉了。 17 主就是圣灵，主的灵在哪里，哪里就有自由； 18 而且脸上的帕子既然被揭去了，我们大家就像镜子返照出[g]主的荣光，正在被改变成与主同样的形像，从荣耀归入荣耀，这正是出于主——圣灵。

上帝新约的仆人
3 这是否听起来好像我们又在自夸了呢？或者我们是否也要像一些人那样，需要给你们推荐信，或者向你们要推荐信呢？当然不用！ 2 你们自己就是我们的推荐信，它写在我们心中，为众人所知，供众人传阅。 3 你们表明自己是一封通过我们寄出、来自基督的信。这封信不是用墨水写成的，而是由活生生的上帝的圣灵写成的。它不是写在石板 [a]上，而是写在人心上的。
4 通过基督，我们在上帝面前有这样的信心作这样的声明。 5 我们的意思并不是说我们凭自己能做任何好事，是上帝使我们能够做到我们所做的。 6 上帝还使我们成为新契约的奴仆。这约不是字面上的律法，而是圣灵的契约。字面上的律法带来死亡，而圣灵则赐予生命。
新约带来更大的荣耀
7 既然用文字刻在石头上、以死亡为特征的律法尚且有荣耀，以致于以色列人不能凝视摩西那伴着荣耀的脸庞，尽管后来那种光耀消失了。 8 那么，难道以圣灵 [b]为特征的律法岂不有更大的荣耀吗？ 9 如果给人定罪的律法都有荣耀，那末，使人在上帝面前被称为义的律法岂不会有更大的荣耀吗？ 10 当前者的荣耀和后者的荣耀相比，前者的荣耀就黯然失色了。 11 如果注定要消失的律法都伴着荣耀而来，那么，永存的律法岂不会有更大的荣耀吗？
12 因为我们怀着这样的希望，我们就非常勇敢。 13 我们不像摩西那样，用面纱盖住脸，为的是不让以色列人凝视那注定消逝的荣耀， 14 但是，他们的心智迟钝，因为至今每当他们（犹太人）读旧约时，那同样的面纱依然还在。它还没有被拿掉，因为只有通过基督才能被拿掉。 15 但是，至今每当他们读摩西律法时，那张面纱还盖在他们心上。 16 只有他们归向主时，面纱才会被拿掉。 17 我说的这位“主”是指圣灵。主的圣灵在哪里，那里就有自由。 18 我们的脸不被蒙上。我们都显示了主的荣耀。我们都变得像他一样，在我们中的这种变化会带来了越来越多的荣耀。这荣耀来自主，即圣灵。

3 Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?
2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:
3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
4 And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:
5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?
9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.
10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.
11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious.
12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:
13 And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:
14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.
15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
