¹⁷基督不是差遣我去為人施洗，而是去傳揚福音，而且不用高言大智，免得基督十字架的能力被抹摋。

上帝的智慧

¹⁸因為十字架之道在將要滅亡的人看來是愚昧的，但對我們這些得救的人來說卻是上帝的大能， ¹⁹正如聖經上說：「我要摧毀智者的智慧，廢棄明哲的聰明。」

¹⁷For Christ did not send me to baptize,^(A) but to preach the gospel—not with wisdom^(B) and eloquence, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.

¹⁸For the message of the cross is foolishness^(C) to those who are perishing,^(D) but to us who are being saved^(E) it is the power of God.^(F) ¹⁹For it is written:

“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”^[a]^(G)
