15 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:
6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.
9 For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
11 Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.
12 Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?
13 But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:
14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.
15 Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.
16 For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:
17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
18 Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.
19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.
28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
29 Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?
30 And why stand we in jeopardy every hour?
31 I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
32 If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantageth it me, if the dead rise not? let us eat and drink; for to morrow we die.
33 Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.
35 But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?
36 Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:
37 And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:
38 But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.
39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.
40 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.
41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
47 The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven.
48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Kristus har uppstått från de döda
15 Syskon, låt mig nu få påminna er om evangeliet som jag förkunnade för er, och som ni tog emot och grundar er tro på, 2 och genom vilket ni ju räddas, om ni bara håller fast vid min förkunnelse. För om ni inte gör det, då är er tro meningslös.
3 Kärnan i det budskap som jag gav vidare till er, och som jag själv hade tagit emot, var följande: Kristus dog för våra synder, i enlighet med Skrifterna. 4 Han begravdes, men på den tredje[a] dagen uppstod han från de döda, i enlighet med Skrifterna. 5 Han visade sig för Kefas och sedan för de övriga av de tolv. 6 Efter det visade han sig för mer än femhundra troende på samma gång. De flesta av dessa lever fortfarande, men några har somnat in. 7 Lite senare visade han sig för Jakob[b], och sedan för alla apostlarna. 8 Allra sist visade han sig också för mig, som är som ett ofullgånget foster. 9 Jag är ju den minst betydande av alla apostlar, och borde egentligen inte få kallas apostel alls, eftersom jag tidigare förföljde Guds församling.[c]
10 Men på grund av Guds nåd är jag nu vad jag är. Och den nåd han visade mig har inte varit förgäves. Jag har arbetat hårdare än någon annan apostel, fast inte i egen kraft utan tack vare Guds nåd som har varit med mig. 11 Och om det nu var jag eller de andra apostlarna spelar ingen roll, för detta är vad vi förkunnar, och detta är vad ni har kommit till tro på.
Vi ska uppstå från de döda
12 Men om det nu förkunnas att Kristus har uppstått från de döda, hur kan då vissa av er påstå att det inte finns någon uppståndelse från de döda? 13 Om ingen uppståndelse från de döda finns, då har ju inte heller Kristus uppstått. 14 Och om Kristus inte har uppstått, då är vår förkunnelse bara tomt prat, och er tro är också tom. 15 Då avslöjas också vi som falska vittnen om Gud, eftersom vi har vittnat att Gud uppväckte Kristus från de döda, trots att han inte gjorde det, om man nu får tro att de döda inte uppstår. 16 Kristus kan ju inte ha uppstått om inga döda uppstår. 17 Men om Kristus aldrig uppstod från de döda, då är er tro meningslös, och ni är fortfarande kvar i era synder. 18 Då skulle också de som trodde på Kristus när de dog ha gått förlorade. 19 Om vårt hopp till Kristus bara gäller livet här, då är det verkligen mer synd om oss än om någon annan.
20 Men nu är det faktiskt så att Kristus har uppstått från de döda, som den första av alla dem som somnat in. 21 Döden kom in genom en människa, och därför kom också uppståndelsen från de döda genom en människa. 22 Alla dör i Adam, och på samma sätt får alla nytt liv i Kristus. 23 Men alla i en bestämd ordning: Kristus först, och när han kommer tillbaka, alla de som tillhör honom. 24 Sedan kommer slutet, då Kristus ska överlämna riket till Gud, Fadern, sedan han har utplånat alla härskare och makter och krafter. 25 Kristus måste nämligen regera tills han har lagt alla fiender under sina fötter.[d] 26 Och den sista fienden som utplånas är döden, 27 för Gud har ”lagt allting under hans fötter.”[e] När det står att ”allting” har lagts under hans fötter betyder det naturligtvis inte att det även gäller Gud själv, eftersom det var han som lade allting under sin Son. 28 Men när allting sedan har lagts under honom, ska han underordna sig den som lade allting under honom, så att Gud blir allt i alla.
29 Vad uträttar de som låter döpa sig för de döda? Om de döda inte uppstår, varför låter man då döpa sig för dem?[f] 30 Och vi, varför skulle vi dag ut och dag in riskera livet? 31 Ja, syskon, ni som är min stolthet i vår Herre Kristus Jesus, jag har verkligen varje dag varit nära att mista livet. 32 Om jag kämpade mot vilddjuren[g] i Efesos på mänskligt vis, vad skulle det ha varit för mening med det? Om de döda inte uppstår,
”låt oss äta och dricka,
imorgon ska vi ju ändå dö!”[h]
33 Men låt er inte luras. ”Av dåligt sällskap får man dåliga vanor.”[i] 34 Börja därför tänka klart igen, och sluta upp med att synda. Några av er verkar ju fullständigt sakna kunskap om Gud. Ni borde skämmas, säger jag!
Vi ska få en ny kropp
35 Nu kanske någon invänder: ”Men hur uppstår de döda? Vilka slags kroppar får de när de kommer?” 36 Så oförståndigt! Det du sår måste ju först dö för att sedan få liv. 37 Och det du sår är inte den planta som växer upp utan bara ett frö, ett vetekorn eller något annat. 38 Gud har ju bestämt hur varje växt ska se ut, och olika frön ger olika växter. 39 Det finns olika slags kroppar. Människor har ett slags kropp och djuren har andra slags kroppar, fåglarna har sina och fiskarna sina. 40 Det finns också himmelska kroppar, liksom jordiska, och de himmelska har en annan glans än de jordiska. 41 Solen har sin glans, och månen har sin, så också stjärnorna, som lyser med olika glans.
42 Så är det också med de dödas uppståndelse. Det som sås förgängligt uppstår oförgängligt. 43 Det som sås i förakt uppstår i härlighet. Det som sås i svaghet uppstår i kraft. 44 Det som sås som en fysisk kropp uppstår som en andlig kropp. När det nu finns en fysisk kropp, finns det också en andlig.
45 Det står ju skrivet: ”Den första människan, Adam, blev en levande varelse.”[j] Men den andre Adam[k] blev en ande som ger liv. 46 Det andliga kommer alltså inte först, utan det fysiska, och sedan kommer det andliga. 47 Den första människan kom från jorden och var av jord, men den andra människan kom från himlen. 48 Som den jordiska var är också de jordiska, och som den himmelska är, är också de himmelska. 49 Liksom vi blev en avbild av den jordiska, så ska vi också bli en avbild av den himmelska.
50 Vad jag menar är alltså detta, syskon: kött och blod kan inte ärva Guds rike, och inte heller kan det förgängliga ärva oförgänglighet. 51 Men jag berättar en hemlighet: en del av oss kommer inte att dö. Men vi ska alla förvandlas, 52 blixtsnabbt, på ett enda ögonblick, när den sista trumpeten ljuder. För den kommer att ljuda, och då uppstår de döda, i oförgänglighet, och vi förvandlas. 53 Det förgängliga måste kläs i oförgänglighet och det dödliga i odödlighet. 54 Och när det förgängliga har klätts i oförgänglighet och det dödliga i odödlighet, då har det som står skrivet gått i uppfyllelse:
56 Dödens udd är synden, och synden får sin kraft från lagen. 57 Men tack Gud, som ger oss segern genom vår Herre Jesus Kristus.
58 Stå därför fasta och orubbliga, mina kära syskon. Ni vet ju att det ni gör för Herren inte är förgäves.

The Risen Christ, Our Hope(R)
12 Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, (S)then Christ is not risen. 14 And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. 15 Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because (T)we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up—if in fact the dead do not rise. 16 For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. 17 And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; (U)you are still in your sins! 18 Then also those who have [c]fallen (V)asleep in Christ have perished. 19 (W)If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.
The Last Enemy Destroyed
20 But now (X)Christ is risen from the dead, and has become (Y)the firstfruits of those who have [d]fallen asleep. 21 For (Z)since by man came death, (AA)by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall (AB)be made alive. 23 But (AC)each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ’s at His coming. 24 Then comes the end, when He delivers (AD)the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. 25 For He must reign (AE)till He has put all enemies under His feet. 26 (AF)The last enemy that will be destroyed is death. 27 For (AG)“He has put all things under His feet.” But when He says “all things are put under Him,” it is evident that He who put all things under Him is excepted. 28 (AH)Now when all things are made subject to Him, then (AI)the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all.
Effects of Denying the Resurrection
29 Otherwise, what will they do who are baptized for the dead, if the dead do not rise at all? Why then are they baptized for the dead? 30 And (AJ)why do we stand in [e]jeopardy every hour? 31 I affirm, by (AK)the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, (AL)I die daily. 32 If, in the manner of men, (AM)I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantage is it to me? If the dead do not rise, (AN)“Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!”

A Glorious Body
35 But someone will say, (AS)“How are the dead raised up? Our Final Victory
50 Now this I say, brethren, that (BF)flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Behold, I tell you a [m]mystery: (BG)We shall not all sleep, (BH)but we shall all be changed— 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. (BI)For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and (BJ)this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: (BK)“Death is swallowed up in victory.”
56 The sting of death is sin, and (BM)the strength of sin is the law. 57 (BN)But thanks be to God, who gives us (BO)the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
