爱的真谛
13 即使我能说人类和天使的各种语言，如果没有爱，我不过像咣咣作响的锣和钹。 2 即使我能做先知讲道，又明白各样的奥秘，而且学问渊博，甚至有移开山岭的信心，如果没有爱，我仍然算不了什么。 3 即使我倾家荡产周济穷人，甚至舍己捐躯任人焚烧，如果没有爱，对我也毫无益处。
4 爱是恒久忍耐，又有恩慈；爱是不嫉妒，不自吹自擂，不骄傲自大， 5 不轻浮无礼，不自私自利，不轻易动怒，不怀怨记恨， 6 不喜爱不义，只喜爱真理； 7 凡事能包容，凡事有信心，凡事有盼望，凡事能忍耐。
8 爱永不止息。然而，先知讲道的恩赐终会过去，说方言的恩赐也会停止，学问也将成为过去。 9 我们现在知道的有限，讲道的恩赐也有限， 10 等那全备的来到，这一切有限的事都要被废弃。
11 当我是小孩子的时候，我的思想、言语和推理都像小孩子，长大后，我就把一切幼稚的事丢弃了。 12 如今我们好像对着镜子观看影像，模糊不清，但将来会看得真真切切[a]。现在我所知道的有限，但将来会完全知道，如同主知道我一样。
13 如今常存的有信、望、爱这三样，其中最伟大的是爱。

13 If in the leshonot of Bnei Adam and malachim I speak, but I do not have ahavah, I have become only a sounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
2 And if I have nevu’ah and have da’as of all sodot and all da’as, and if I have all emunah so as to remove mountains, but ahavah I do not have, I am nothing.
3 And if I’m a marbitz tzedaka and give all I possess in gemilut chasadim and if I give my body al kiddush ha-Shem for sereifah (death by burning), but ahavah I do not have, I have gained nothing. [DANIEL 3:28]
4 Ahavah suffers long; ahavah is kind; ahavah does not have kinah; ahavah does not brag; ahavah is not puffed up in ga’avah (conceit, pride);
5 ahavah does not behave shamelessly; ahavah does not in anochiyut insist on its own way; ahavah is not touchy and vindictive, keeping a record of wrongs (ZECHARYAH 8:17).
6 Ahavah does not find simcha in evil, but rejoices in HaEmes.
7 Ahavah covers all things (MISHLE 10:12), believes all things, has tikvah (hope), even zitzfleisch, for all things.
8 Ahavah never fails. However, divrei nevu’ah will be abolished; leshonot will cease; da’as will come to an end.
9 For we have da’as in part, and we have divrei nevu’ah is part.
10 But when shleimah (completion) comes, the teilvaiz (partial) will disappear.
11 When I was a yeled, I used to speak like one, think like one, reason like one. But when I became mevugar (mature), I put away kinderyohrn. [Ps 131:2]
12 For still we see through a mirror indistinctly. But then [in the Olam Haba], distinctly, panim el panim. Now I have da’as only in part; then I will have da’as fully, even as also Hashem had full da’as of me. [Job 26:14; 36:26; Gn 32:30; Job 19:26]
13 But now remain emunah, tikvah, and ahavah, these shalosh (three). And the greatest of these is ahavah.

13 Se anche parlassi le lingue degli uomini e degli angeli, ma non avessi la carità, sono come un bronzo che risuona o un cembalo che tintinna.
2 E se avessi il dono della profezia e conoscessi tutti i misteri e tutta la scienza, e possedessi la pienezza della fede così da trasportare le montagne, ma non avessi la carità, non sono nulla.
3 E se anche distribuissi tutte le mie sostanze e dessi il mio corpo per esser bruciato, ma non avessi la carità, niente mi giova.
4 La carità è paziente, è benigna la carità; non è invidiosa la carità, non si vanta, non si gonfia, 5 non manca di rispetto, non cerca il suo interesse, non si adira, non tiene conto del male ricevuto, 6 non gode dell'ingiustizia, ma si compiace della verità. 7 Tutto copre, tutto crede, tutto spera, tutto sopporta. 8 La carità non avrà mai fine. Le profezie scompariranno; il dono delle lingue cesserà e la scienza svanirà. 9 La nostra conoscenza è imperfetta e imperfetta la nostra profezia. 10 Ma quando verrà ciò che è perfetto, quello che è imperfetto scomparirà. 11 Quand'ero bambino, parlavo da bambino, pensavo da bambino, ragionavo da bambino. Ma, divenuto uomo, ciò che era da bambino l'ho abbandonato. 12 Ora vediamo come in uno specchio, in maniera confusa; ma allora vedremo a faccia a faccia. Ora conosco in modo imperfetto, ma allora conoscerò perfettamente, come anch'io sono conosciuto.
13 Queste dunque le tre cose che rimangono: la fede, la speranza e la carità; ma di tutte più grande è la carità!
