17 拿著七碗的七位天使中，有一位來跟我講話，說：“你來，我要把那坐在眾水之上的大淫婦所要受的審判指示你。 2 地上的眾王都跟她行過淫，住在地上的人也都喝她淫亂的酒醉了。” 3 我在靈裡被天使帶到曠野去，看見一個婦人，騎著朱紅色的獸，這獸布滿了褻瀆的名號，有七頭十角。 4 那婦人穿著紫色和朱紅色的衣服，佩戴著金子、寶石和珍珠的裝飾，手裡拿著金杯，盛滿了可憎的物，和她淫亂的污穢。 5 她額上寫著一個名號：“奧祕，大巴比倫，地上的淫婦和可憎的物之母。” 6 我又看見那婦人喝聖徒的血，和那為耶穌作見證的人的血，喝醉了。
我看見了她，就大大驚奇。 7 天使對我說：“你為甚麼驚奇呢？我要把這婦人的奧祕，和馱著她的那七頭十角的獸的奧祕告訴你。 8 你看見的那獸，先前在、現今不在、將來要從無底坑上來，然後走向滅亡。住在世上的人，凡是名字在創世以來沒有記在生命冊上的，看見了那先前在、現今不在、將來還要出現的獸，就都要驚奇。 9 在這裡需要有智慧的心。七頭就是那婦人所坐的七座山， 10 也就是七位王：五位已經倒了，一位還在，另一位還沒有來到；他來的時候，必須存留一會兒。 11 那先前在、現今不在的獸，就是第八位。他也是出於那七位中的一位的，並且正在走向滅亡。 12 你看見的那十角，就是十王，他們還沒有取得王權；但要跟獸一同得著權柄，作王一個時期。 13 他們同心合意，把自己的權力權柄交給那獸。 14 他們要跟羊羔作戰，羊羔必勝過他們，因為他是萬主之主，萬王之王。那些與羊羔同在、蒙召、被選、有忠心的，也必勝過他們。”
15 天使又對我說：“你所看見那淫婦坐著的眾水，就是多種民族、群眾、邦國，方言的人。 16 你看見的十角和那獸，都要恨那淫婦，使她荒涼赤身，又要吃她的肉，用火把她燒掉。 17 神要眾王行他的旨意，就把意念放在他們心中，叫他們同心把自己的國獻給那獸，直到 神的話都實現為止。 18 你看見的那婦人，就是有權統治地上的眾王的那座大城。”

The Woman and the Scarlet Beast
17 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls(A) came and spoke with me: “Come, I will show you the judgment of the notorious prostitute[a](B) who is seated on many[b] waters.(C) 2 The kings of the earth(D) committed sexual immorality with her, and those who live on the earth became drunk on the wine of her sexual immorality.”(E) 3 Then he carried me away in the Spirit[c](F) to a wilderness.
I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered[d] with blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns.(G) 4 The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, adorned with gold, jewels, and pearls.(H) She had a golden cup in her hand filled with everything detestable(I) and with the impurities of her[e] prostitution. 5 On her forehead was written a name, a mystery:(J) Babylon the Great, the Mother of Prostitutes and of the Detestable Things of the Earth. 6 Then I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the witnesses to Jesus.(K) When I saw her, I was greatly astonished.
The Meaning of the Woman and of the Beast
7 Then the angel said to me, “Why are you astonished? I will explain to you the mystery of the woman and of the beast, with the seven heads and the ten horns, that carries her. 8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to come up from the abyss(L) and go to destruction.(M) Those who live on the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world(N) will be astonished when they see the beast that was, and is not, and is to come.(O) 9 This calls for a mind that has wisdom.[f](P)
“The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman is seated. They are also seven kings: 10 Five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come, and when he comes, he must remain for only a little while. 11 The beast that was and is not, is itself an eighth king, but it belongs to the seven and is going to destruction. 12 The ten horns you saw are ten kings(Q) who have not yet received a kingdom, but they will receive authority as kings with the beast for one hour.(R) 13 These have one purpose, and they give their power and authority to the beast. 14 These will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will conquer them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings.(S) Those with him are called, chosen, and faithful.”(T)
15 He also said to me, “The waters you saw,(U) where the prostitute was seated, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and languages.(V) 16 The ten horns you saw, and the beast, will hate the prostitute.(W) They will make her desolate and naked, devour her flesh, and burn her up with fire.(X) 17 For God has put it into their hearts to carry out his plan by having one purpose(Y) and to give their kingdom[g] to the beast until the words of God are fulfilled.(Z) 18 And the woman you saw is the great city that has royal power over the kings of the earth.”

17 Then (A)one of the seven angels who had (B)the seven bowls came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the judgement of (C)the great prostitute (D)who is seated on many waters, 2 (E)with whom the kings of the earth have committed sexual immorality, and (F)with the wine of whose sexual immorality (G)the dwellers on earth have become drunk.” 3 And (H)he carried me away in the Spirit (I)into a wilderness, and I saw a woman sitting on (J)a scarlet beast that was full of (K)blasphemous names, and (L)it had seven heads and ten horns. 4 The woman (M)was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned (N)with gold and jewels and pearls, holding in her hand (O)a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of her sexual immorality. 5 And on her forehead was written a name of (P)mystery: (Q)“Babylon the great, mother of prostitutes and of earth's abominations.” 6 And I saw the woman, drunk (R)with the blood of the saints, the blood of (S)the martyrs of Jesus.[a]
When I saw her, I marvelled greatly. 7 But the angel said to me, “Why do you marvel? I will tell you (T)the mystery of the woman, and of the beast with seven heads and ten horns that carries her. 8 The beast that you saw (U)was, and is not, and (V)is about to rise from (W)the bottomless pit[b] and (X)go to destruction. They will make her (AN)desolate and (AO)naked, and (AP)devour her flesh and (AQ)burn her up with fire, 17 for (AR)God has put it into their hearts to carry out his purpose by being of one mind and (AS)handing over their royal power to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled. 18 And the woman that you saw is (AT)the great city that has dominion over the kings of the earth.”
