示巴女王来访所罗门(A)
9 示巴女王听见所罗门的名声，就来到耶路撒冷，要用难题试试所罗门。跟随她的人很多，又有骆驼驮着香料、大批黄金和宝石。她来到所罗门那里，就把她心里所有的难题，都对所罗门说出来。 2 所罗门把她的一切难题，都给她解答了；没有一样难倒所罗门，不能给她解答的。 3 示巴女王看见所罗门的智慧和他建造的宫殿， 4 他席上的食物，群臣的座位，仆人的侍候和他们的服饰，酒政和酒政的服饰，以及所罗门在耶和华殿里所献的燔祭，就十分惊讶。 5 于是她对王说：“我在本国听见关于你的事和你的智慧，实在是真的。 6 我先前不信他们的话，等到我来了，亲眼看见了，才知道你智慧的伟大，人告诉我的还不到一半。你实在是见面胜似闻名。 7 属你的人是有福的，你的臣仆是有福的，因为他们可以常常侍立在你面前，聆听你的智慧。 8 耶和华你的 神是应当称颂的，因他喜悦你，使你坐在他的王位上，为耶和华你的 神作王；因为你的 神爱以色列人，要永远坚立他们，所以立你作他们的王，好秉公行义。”

9 于是示巴女王把约四千公斤金子、大批香料和宝石送给所罗门王；示巴女王送给所罗门王的香料，是犹大地从来没有过的。 10 希兰的仆人和所罗门的仆人从俄斐把黄金运来，也把檀香木和宝石运了来。 11 王用檀香木为耶和华的殿和王宫作了台阶，又为唱歌的人作了琴瑟；像这样的东西，是在犹大地从来没有见过的。
所罗门的回礼(C)
12 所罗门王按着示巴女王带来给他的，回送她礼物；此外，还把女王所愿所求的，都送给她，于是女王和她的臣仆都返回本国去了。
所罗门的财富与智慧(D)
13 所罗门每年所得的金子，共重两万三千公斤， 14 另外，还有从商人和行商运来的，阿拉伯诸王和本国的各总督，都把金银运来给所罗门。 15 所罗门王用锤炼好的金子做了二百面大盾牌，每一面大盾牌用锤炼好的金子七公斤。 16 又用锤炼好的金子做了三百面小盾牌，每一面小盾牌用锤炼好的金子约三公斤；王把这些盾牌都放在黎巴嫩林宫。
17 王用象牙做了一个大宝座，包上纯金。 18 宝座有六级台阶，又用金脚凳和宝座相连，座位两边都有扶手，扶手旁边各有一只狮子站立。 19 六级台阶上共有十二只狮子站立；每级两只，一左一右；在列国中都没有这样做的。 20 所罗门王的一切杯爵都是金的；黎巴嫩林宫里的一切器皿都是精金做的；在所罗门的时代，银子算不得甚么。 21 因为王的船只和希兰的仆人一同到他施去；往他施的船只每三年回来一次，载着金银、象牙、猿猴和孔雀回来。
22 所罗门王的财富和智慧，胜过世上的列王。 23 世上的列王都求见所罗门的面，要听 神赐给他的智慧。 24 他们各人带来的礼物有：银器、金器、衣服、兵器、香料、骡马；每年都有一定的数量。
25 所罗门有四千马廊的车马，还有马兵一万二千，他把这些人马安置在囤车城和耶路撒冷，就是与王在一起。 26 所罗门统治列王，从幼发拉底河到非利士地，直到埃及的边界。 27 王在耶路撒冷使银子好象石头，使香柏木好象平原的桑树那么多。 28 人们从埃及和各地把马匹运到所罗门那里。

9 Quando la regina di Sceba sentí parlare della fama di Salomone venne a Gerusalemme per mettere alla prova Salomone con difficili domande, accompagnata da un grandissimo seguito, con cammelli carichi di aromi e con una grande quantità di oro e di pietre preziose: essa andò da Salomone e parlò con lui di tutto ciò che aveva in cuore.
2 Salomone rispose a tutte le sue domande, e non ci fu cosa alcuna che fosse nascosta a Salomone e che egli non sapesse spiegare.
3 Quando la regina di Sceba vide la sapienza di Salomone e la casa che egli aveva costruito,
4 i cibi della sua mensa, gli alloggi dei suoi servi, il servizio dei suoi camerieri e le loro vesti, i suoi coppieri e le loro vesti e gli olocausti che egli offriva nella casa dell'Eterno, rimase senza fiato.
5 Disse quindi al re: «Era dunque vero ciò che avevo sentito nel mio paese circa le tue parole e la tua sapienza.
6 Ma non ho creduto a queste cose finché non sono venuta io stessa e non ho visto con i miei occhi; ebbene, non mi era stato riferito neppure la metà della grandezza della tua sapienza. Tu sorpassi la fama di cui avevo sentito parlare.
7 Beata la tua gente, beati questi tuoi servi che stanno sempre davanti a te e ascoltano la tua sapienza!
8 Sia benedetto l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, che si è compiaciuto di te, mettendoti sul suo trono come re per l'Eterno, il tuo DIO! Poiché il tuo DIO ama Israele e vuole renderlo stabile per sempre, ti ha stabilito re su di loro, per esercitare il giudizio e la giustizia».
9 Poi ella donò al re centoventi talenti d'oro e una grande quantità di aromi e di pietre preziose. Non vi furono mai piú aromi come quelli che la regina di Sceba diede al re Salomone.
10 I servi di Hiram e i servi di Salomone che portavano oro da Ofir, portarono anche legno di sandalo e pietre preziose;
11 con il legno di sandalo il re fece scale per la casa dell'Eterno e per la reggia e anche cetere e arpe per i cantori. Nessuno strumento come questi era mai stato visto prima nel paese di Giuda.
12 Il re Salomone diede alla regina di Sceba tutte le cose desiderate che ella chiese, molto di più di ciò che ella aveva portato al re. Poi ella fece ritorno, andando con i suoi servi al suo paese.
13 Ora il peso dell'oro che Salomone riceveva ogni anno era di seicentosessantasei talenti d'oro.
14 in aggiunta a quello che proveniva dai mercanti e dai commercianti; inoltre tutti i re d'Arabia e i governanti del paese portavano a Salomone oro e argento.
15 Il re Salomone fece fare duecento scudi grandi d'oro battuto, per ognuno dei quali adoperò seicento sicli d'oro battuto.
16 e trecento scudi d'oro battuto, per ognuno dei quali adoperò trecento sicli d'oro; il re li pose quindi nel palazzo della foresta del Libano.
17 Il re fece pure un gran trono d'avorio che rivestí d'oro puro.
18 ll trono aveva sei gradini e uno sgabello d'oro, che erano attaccati al trono c'erano due bracci ai lati del seggio e due leoni stavano presso i bracci.
19 Dodici leoni stavano su entrambe le estremità dei sei gradini. Nulla di simile era stato fatto in alcun altro regno.
20 Tutte le coppe per le bevande del re Salomone erano d'oro, e anche le coppe del palazzo della foresta del Libano erano d'oro puro. Al tempo di Salomone infatti l'argento non aveva alcun valore.
21 Poiché le navi del re andavano a Tarshish con i servi di Hiram; e una volta ogni tre anni venivano le navi di Tarshish, recando oro, argento, avorio, scimmie e pavoni.
22 Cosí il re Salomone superò in ricchezza e sapienza tutti i re della terra.
23 Tutti i re della terra cercavano la presenza di Salomone per ascoltare la sapienza che DIO gli aveva posto in cuore.
24 Ognuno di essi portava il suo dono: oggetti d'argento, oggetti d'oro, vesti, armi, aromi, cavalli e muli, una certa quantità ogni anno.
25 Salomone aveva quattromila scuderie per cavalli e carri e dodicimila cavalieri, che distribuí nelle città per i carri e in Gerusalemme vicino a sé.
26 Cosí egli dominava su tutti i re dal Fiume, fino al paese dei Filistei e fino al confine d'Egitto.
27 Il re fece in modo che in Gerusalemme l'argento fosse comune come le pietre e i cedri abbondanti come i sicomori della pianura.
28 A Salomone portavano cavalli dall'Egitto e da tutti i paesi.
29 Ora il resto delle gesta di Salomone, dalle prime alle ultime, non sono forse scritte nel libro di Nathan, il profeta, nella profezia di Ahijah di Sciloh e nelle visioni di Iddo il veggente, riguardanti Geroboamo, figlio di Nebat?
30 Salomone regnò in Gerusalemme su tutto Israele quarant'anni.
31 Poi Salomone si addormentò con i suoi padri e fu sepolto nella città di Davide suo padre. Al suo posto regnò suo figlio Roboamo.

The Queen of Sheba Visits Solomon(A)
9 When the queen of Sheba(B) heard of Solomon’s fame, she came to Jerusalem to test him with hard questions. Arriving with a very great caravan—with camels carrying spices, large quantities of gold, and precious stones—she came to Solomon and talked with him about all she had on her mind. 2 Solomon answered all her questions; nothing was too hard for him to explain to her. 3 When the queen of Sheba saw the wisdom of Solomon,(C) as well as the palace he had built, 4 the food on his table, the seating of his officials, the attending servants in their robes, the cupbearers in their robes and the burnt offerings he made at[a] the temple of the Lord, she was overwhelmed.
5 She said to the king, “The report I heard in my own country about your achievements and your wisdom is true. 6 But I did not believe what they said until I came(D) and saw with my own eyes. Indeed, not even half the greatness of your wisdom was told me; you have far exceeded the report I heard. 7 How happy your people must be! How happy your officials, who continually stand before you and hear your wisdom! 8 Praise be to the Lord your God, who has delighted in you and placed you on his throne(E) as king to rule for the Lord your God. Because of the love of your God for Israel and his desire to uphold them forever, he has made you king(F) over them, to maintain justice and righteousness.”
9 Then she gave the king 120 talents[b] of gold,(G) large quantities of spices, and precious stones. There had never been such spices as those the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.
10 (The servants of Hiram and the servants of Solomon brought gold from Ophir;(H) they also brought algumwood[c] and precious stones. 11 The king used the algumwood to make steps for the temple of the Lord and for the royal palace, and to make harps and lyres for the musicians. Nothing like them had ever been seen in Judah.)
12 King Solomon gave the queen of Sheba all she desired and asked for; he gave her more than she had brought to him. Then she left and returned with her retinue to her own country.
Solomon’s Splendor(I)
13 The weight of the gold that Solomon received yearly was 666 talents,[d] 14 not including the revenues brought in by merchants and traders. Also all the kings of Arabia(J) and the governors of the territories brought gold and silver to Solomon.
15 King Solomon made two hundred large shields of hammered gold; six hundred shekels[e] of hammered gold went into each shield. 16 He also made three hundred small shields(K) of hammered gold, with three hundred shekels[f] of gold in each shield. The king put them in the Palace of the Forest of Lebanon.(L)
17 Then the king made a great throne covered with ivory(M) and overlaid with pure gold. 18 The throne had six steps, and a footstool of gold was attached to it. On both sides of the seat were armrests, with a lion standing beside each of them. 19 Twelve lions stood on the six steps, one at either end of each step. Nothing like it had ever been made for any other kingdom. 20 All King Solomon’s goblets were gold, and all the household articles in the Palace of the Forest of Lebanon were pure gold. Nothing was made of silver, because silver was considered of little value in Solomon’s day. 21 The king had a fleet of trading ships[g] manned by Hiram’s[h] servants. Once every three years it returned, carrying gold, silver and ivory, and apes and baboons.
22 King Solomon was greater in riches and wisdom than all the other kings of the earth.(N) 23 All the kings(O) of the earth sought audience with Solomon to hear the wisdom God had put in his heart. 24 Year after year, everyone who came brought a gift(P)—articles of silver and gold, and robes, weapons and spices, and horses and mules.
25 Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots,(Q) and twelve thousand horses,[i] which he kept in the chariot cities and also with him in Jerusalem. 26 He ruled(R) over all the kings from the Euphrates River(S) to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt.(T) 27 The king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar as plentiful as sycamore-fig trees in the foothills. 28 Solomon’s horses were imported from Egypt and from all other countries.
Solomon’s Death(U)
29 As for the other events of Solomon’s reign, from beginning to end, are they not written in the records of Nathan(V) the prophet, in the prophecy of Ahijah(W) the Shilonite and in the visions of Iddo the seer concerning Jeroboam(X) son of Nebat? 30 Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years. 31 Then he rested with his ancestors and was buried in the city of David(Y) his father. And Rehoboam his son succeeded him as king.
