犹大王亚哈斯
28 亚哈斯二十岁登基，在耶路撒冷执政十六年。他没有效法他祖先大卫做耶和华视为正的事， 2 反而步以色列诸王的后尘，又铸造巴力神像。 3 他不但在欣嫩子谷烧香，还效法耶和华在以色列人面前赶走的外族人的可憎行径，焚烧自己的儿子作祭物。 4 他还在丘坛、山冈和绿树下献祭烧香。
与亚兰和以色列交战
5 因此，他的上帝耶和华把他交在亚兰王手中，亚兰王就打败他，把他的许多人民掳到大马士革。他也被交在以色列王手中，损失惨重。 6 利玛利的儿子比加一天之内杀了犹大十二万勇士，因为他们背弃了他们祖先的上帝耶和华。 7 以法莲的勇士细基利杀了王子玛西雅、宫廷总管押斯利甘和宰相以利加拿。 8 以色列军队从他们的犹大同胞中掳走了二十万妇孺，同时也将大量战利品带回撒玛利亚。
俄德先知

12 约哈难的儿子亚撒利雅、米实利末的儿子比利迦、沙龙的儿子耶希西迦和哈得莱的儿子亚玛撒四位以法莲族长起来阻挡从战场回来的军队， 13 说：“你们不可把这些俘虏带进来，我们的罪已经够重了，耶和华的烈怒已经临到以色列人，不要再得罪耶和华，加重我们的罪恶了。” 14 于是，士兵们便把俘虏和战利品交给众首领和民众。 15 那些以法莲族长就上前照顾俘虏，从战利品中拿出衣服和鞋子给那些赤身露体的俘虏穿上，供应他们吃喝，又给他们的伤口抹上油，让软弱的骑驴。他们把所有的俘虏送到棕树城耶利哥他们的亲族那里，随后返回撒玛利亚。
亚哈斯向亚述王求援
16 那时，亚哈斯王派人到亚述王那里求援。 17 原来以东人又来攻打犹大，掳掠民众。 18 非利士人也入侵丘陵和犹大南方的城镇，攻占了伯·示麦、亚雅仑、基低罗，以及梭哥、亭拿、瑾锁和三城周围的村庄，并住在那里。 19 耶和华使犹大衰微，因为以色列王[a]亚哈斯在犹大肆无忌惮，悖逆耶和华。 20 亚述王提革拉·毗列色来到犹大后，不但不救他，反而压迫他。 21 亚哈斯从耶和华的殿里、王宫和官员家中取财宝送给亚述王，但无济于事。
亚哈斯的恶行
22 亚哈斯在患难时越发悖逆耶和华， 23 竟去祭拜打败他的大马士革人的神明，说：“既然亚兰王的神明帮助了亚兰人，我要向这些神明献祭，以便它们帮助我。”但那些神明导致了他和全体以色列人的灭亡。 24 亚哈斯将耶和华上帝殿里的器皿收集起来打碎，封锁殿门，并在耶路撒冷的每个角落为自己设立祭坛。 25 他还在犹大各城建立丘坛，向其他神明烧香，惹他祖先的上帝耶和华发怒。 26 亚哈斯其他的事及所作所为自始至终都记在犹大和以色列的列王史上。 27 亚哈斯与祖先同眠后，葬在耶路撒冷城中，但没有葬在以色列的王陵。他儿子希西迦继位。

Acaz, rey de Judá(A)
28 Acaz tenía veinte años cuando comenzó a reinar; reinó en Jerusalén dieciséis años. Pero, a diferencia de su antepasado David, Acaz no hizo lo que agrada al Señor. 2 Al contrario, siguió el mal ejemplo de los reyes de Israel. También hizo imágenes fundidas de los baales. 3 Así mismo, quemó incienso en el valle de Ben Hinón y sacrificó en el fuego a sus hijos, según las repugnantes ceremonias de las naciones que el Señor había expulsado al paso de los israelitas. 4 También ofrecía sacrificios y quemaba incienso en los altares paganos, en las colinas y bajo todo árbol frondoso.
5 Por eso el Señor su Dios lo entregó al poder del rey de Aram. Los arameos lo derrotaron y capturaron una gran cantidad de prisioneros que se llevaron a Damasco.
Acaz también cayó en poder del rey de Israel, quien le infligió una gran derrota. 6 En un solo día, Pécaj, hijo de Remalías, mató en Judá a ciento veinte mil hombres, todos ellos soldados valientes, porque los habitantes de Judá habían abandonado al Señor, Dios de sus antepasados. 7 Zicrí, un guerrero de Efraín, mató a Maseías, hijo del rey, a Azricán, oficial encargado del palacio, y a Elcaná, que era el oficial más importante después del rey. 8 De entre sus hermanos de Judá, los israelitas capturaron a doscientas mil personas, incluyendo a mujeres, niños y niñas. Además, se apoderaron de un enorme botín, que se llevaron a Samaria.
9 Había allí un hombre llamado Oded que era profeta del Señor. Cuando el ejército regresaba a Samaria, este profeta salió a su encuentro y les dijo:
—El Señor, Dios de sus antepasados, entregó a los de Judá en manos de ustedes, porque estaba enojado con ellos. Pero ustedes los mataron con tal furia que repercutió en el cielo. 10 Y como si fuera poco, ¡ahora pretenden convertir a los habitantes de Judá y de Jerusalén en sus esclavos! ¿Acaso no son también ustedes culpables de haber pecado contra el Señor su Dios? 11 Por tanto, háganme caso: dejen libres a los prisioneros. ¿Acaso no son sus propios hermanos? ¡La ira del Señor se ha encendido contra ustedes!
12 Entonces Azarías, hijo de Johanán, Berequías, hijo de Mesilemot, Ezequías, hijo de Salún, y Amasá, hijo de Hadlay, que eran jefes de los efraimitas, se enfrentaron a los que regresaban de la guerra 13 y les dijeron:
—No traigan aquí a los prisioneros, porque eso nos haría culpables ante el Señor. ¿Acaso pretenden aumentar nuestros pecados y nuestras faltas? ¡Ya es muy grande nuestra culpa, y la ira del Señor se ha encendido contra Israel!
14 Así que los soldados dejaron libres a los prisioneros, y pusieron el botín a los pies de los oficiales y de toda la asamblea. 15 Algunos fueron nombrados para que se hicieran cargo de los prisioneros, y con la ropa y el calzado del botín vistieron a todos los que estaban desnudos. Luego les dieron de comer y de beber, y les untaron aceite. Finalmente, a los que estaban débiles los montaron en burros y los llevaron a Jericó, la ciudad de las palmeras, para reunirlos con sus hermanos. Después, aquellos hombres volvieron a Samaria.
16 En aquel tiempo, el rey Acaz solicitó la ayuda de los reyes de Asiria, 17 porque los edomitas habían atacado nuevamente a Judá y se habían llevado algunos prisioneros. 18 Por su parte, los filisteos saquearon las ciudades de Judá que estaban en la llanura y en el Néguev. Se apoderaron de Bet Semes, Ayalón, Guederot, Soco, Timná y Guimzó, junto con sus respectivas aldeas, y se establecieron en ellas. 19 Así fue como el Señor humilló a Judá, por culpa de Acaz, su rey,[a] quien permitió el desenfreno en Judá y se rebeló totalmente contra el Señor. 20 Tiglat Piléser, rey de Asiria, en vez de apoyar a Acaz, marchó contra él y empeoró su situación. 21 Entonces Acaz entregó al rey de Asiria todo lo que había de valor en el Templo del Señor, en el palacio real y en las casas de sus oficiales; pero eso de nada le sirvió.
22 Y a pesar de encontrarse tan presionado, el rey Acaz se empecinó en su rebelión contra el Señor. 23 Incluso ofreció sacrificios a los dioses de Damasco que lo habían derrotado, pues pensó: «Como los dioses de Aram ayudan a sus reyes, también me ayudarán a mí si les ofrezco sacrificios». Pero esos dioses fueron su ruina y la de todo Israel.
24 Acaz también juntó y despedazó los utensilios del Templo de Dios, cerró sus puertas e hizo construir altares en cada esquina de Jerusalén. 25 Y en todas las ciudades de Judá hizo construir altares paganos para quemar incienso a otros dioses, ofendiendo así al Señor, Dios de sus antepasados.
26 Los demás acontecimientos de su reinado, desde el primero hasta el último, lo mismo que su conducta, están escritos en el libro de los reyes de Judá y de Israel. 27 Acaz murió y fue sepultado con sus antepasados en la ciudad de Jerusalén, pero no en el panteón de los reyes de Israel. Su hijo Ezequías lo sucedió en el trono.

Ahaz King of Judah(A)
28 Ahaz(B) was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. Unlike David his father, he did not do what was right in the eyes of the Lord. 2 He followed the ways of the kings of Israel and also made idols(C) for worshiping the Baals. 3 He burned sacrifices in the Valley of Ben Hinnom(D) and sacrificed his children(E) in the fire, engaging in the detestable(F) practices of the nations the Lord had driven out before the Israelites. 4 He offered sacrifices and burned incense at the high places, on the hilltops and under every spreading tree.
5 Therefore the Lord his God delivered him into the hands of the king of Aram.(G) The Arameans defeated him and took many of his people as prisoners and brought them to Damascus.
He was also given into the hands of the king of Israel, who inflicted heavy casualties on him. 6 In one day Pekah(H) son of Remaliah killed a hundred and twenty thousand soldiers in Judah(I)—because Judah had forsaken the Lord, the God of their ancestors. 7 Zikri, an Ephraimite warrior, killed Maaseiah the king’s son, Azrikam the officer in charge of the palace, and Elkanah, second to the king. 8 The men of Israel took captive from their fellow Israelites who were from Judah(J) two hundred thousand wives, sons and daughters. They also took a great deal of plunder, which they carried back to Samaria.(K)
9 But a prophet of the Lord named Oded was there, and he went out to meet the army when it returned to Samaria. He said to them, “Because the Lord, the God of your ancestors, was angry(L) with Judah, he gave them into your hand. But you have slaughtered them in a rage that reaches to heaven.(M) 10 And now you intend to make the men and women of Judah and Jerusalem your slaves.(N) But aren’t you also guilty of sins against the Lord your God? 11 Now listen to me! Send back your fellow Israelites you have taken as prisoners, for the Lord’s fierce anger rests on you.(O)”
12 Then some of the leaders in Ephraim—Azariah son of Jehohanan, Berekiah son of Meshillemoth, Jehizkiah son of Shallum, and Amasa son of Hadlai—confronted those who were arriving from the war. 13 “You must not bring those prisoners here,” they said, “or we will be guilty before the Lord. Do you intend to add to our sin and guilt? For our guilt is already great, and his fierce anger rests on Israel.”
14 So the soldiers gave up the prisoners and plunder in the presence of the officials and all the assembly. 15 The men designated by name took the prisoners, and from the plunder they clothed all who were naked. They provided them with clothes and sandals, food and drink,(P) and healing balm. All those who were weak they put on donkeys. So they took them back to their fellow Israelites at Jericho, the City of Palms,(Q) and returned to Samaria.(R)
16 At that time King Ahaz sent to the kings[a] of Assyria(S) for help. 17 The Edomites(T) had again come and attacked Judah and carried away prisoners,(U) 18 while the Philistines(V) had raided towns in the foothills and in the Negev of Judah. They captured and occupied Beth Shemesh, Aijalon(W) and Gederoth,(X) as well as Soko,(Y) Timnah(Z) and Gimzo, with their surrounding villages. 19 The Lord had humbled Judah because of Ahaz king of Israel,[b] for he had promoted wickedness in Judah and had been most unfaithful(AA) to the Lord. 20 Tiglath-Pileser[c](AB) king of Assyria(AC) came to him, but he gave him trouble(AD) instead of help.(AE) 21 Ahaz(AF) took some of the things from the temple of the Lord and from the royal palace and from the officials and presented them to the king of Assyria, but that did not help him.(AG)
22 In his time of trouble King Ahaz became even more unfaithful(AH) to the Lord. 23 He offered sacrifices to the gods(AI) of Damascus, who had defeated him; for he thought, “Since the gods of the kings of Aram have helped them, I will sacrifice to them so they will help me.”(AJ) But they were his downfall and the downfall of all Israel.(AK)
24 Ahaz gathered together the furnishings(AL) from the temple of God(AM) and cut them in pieces. He shut the doors(AN) of the Lord’s temple and set up altars(AO) at every street corner in Jerusalem. 25 In every town in Judah he built high places to burn sacrifices to other gods and aroused the anger of the Lord, the God of his ancestors.
26 The other events of his reign and all his ways, from beginning to end, are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel. 27 Ahaz rested(AP) with his ancestors and was buried(AQ) in the city of Jerusalem, but he was not placed in the tombs of the kings of Israel. And Hezekiah his son succeeded him as king.

3 Moreover he burnt incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burnt his children in the fire, after the abominations of the heathen whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel.
4 He sacrificed also and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.
5 Wherefore the Lord his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria; and they smote him, and carried away a great multitude of them captives, and brought them to Damascus. And he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who smote him with a great slaughter.
6 For Pekah the son of Remaliah slew in Judah an hundred and twenty thousand in one day, which were all valiant men; because they had forsaken the Lord God of their fathers.
7 And Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, slew Maaseiah the king's son, and Azrikam the governor of the house, and Elkanah that was next to the king.

9 But a prophet of the Lord was there, whose name was Oded: and he went out before the host that came to Samaria, and said unto them, Behold, because the Lord God of your fathers was wroth with Judah, he hath delivered them into your hand, and ye have slain them in a rage that reacheth up unto heaven.
10 And now ye purpose to keep under the children of Judah and Jerusalem for bondmen and bondwomen unto you: but are there not with you, even with you, sins against the Lord your God?
11 Now hear me therefore, and deliver the captives again, which ye have taken captive of your brethren: for the fierce wrath of the Lord is upon you.
12 Then certain of the heads of the children of Ephraim, Azariah the son of Johanan, Berechiah the son of Meshillemoth, and Jehizkiah the son of Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai, stood up against them that came from the war,
13 And said unto them, Ye shall not bring in the captives hither: for whereas we have offended against the Lord already, ye intend to add more to our sins and to our trespass: for our trespass is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel.
14 So the armed men left the captives and the spoil before the princes and all the congregation.
15 And the men which were expressed by name rose up, and took the captives, and with the spoil clothed all that were naked among them, and arrayed them, and shod them, and gave them to eat and to drink, and anointed them, and carried all the feeble of them upon asses, and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm trees, to their brethren: then they returned to Samaria.
16 At that time did king Ahaz send unto the kings of Assyria to help him.
17 For again the Edomites had come and smitten Judah, and carried away captives.
18 The Philistines also had invaded the cities of the low country, and of the south of Judah, and had taken Bethshemesh, and Ajalon, and Gederoth, and Shocho with the villages thereof, and Timnah with the villages thereof, Gimzo also and the villages thereof: and they dwelt there.
19 For the Lord brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel; for he made Judah naked, and transgressed sore against the Lord.
20 And Tilgathpilneser king of Assyria came unto him, and distressed him, but strengthened him not.
21 For Ahaz took away a portion out of the house of the Lord, and out of the house of the king, and of the princes, and gave it unto the king of Assyria: but he helped him not.
22 And in the time of his distress did he trespass yet more against the Lord: this is that king Ahaz.
23 For he sacrificed unto the gods of Damascus, which smote him: and he said, Because the gods of the kings of Syria help them, therefore will I sacrifice to them, that they may help me. But they were the ruin of him, and of all Israel.
24 And Ahaz gathered together the vessels of the house of God, and cut in pieces the vessels of the house of God, and shut up the doors of the house of the Lord, and he made him altars in every corner of Jerusalem.
25 And in every several city of Judah he made high places to burn incense unto other gods, and provoked to anger the Lord God of his fathers.
26 Now the rest of his acts and of all his ways, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
27 And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, even in Jerusalem: but they brought him not into the sepulchres of the kings of Israel: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead.

Syria and Israel Defeat Judah(I)

Israel Returns the Captives
9 But a (O)prophet of the Lord was there, whose name was Oded; and he went out before the army that came to Samaria, and said to them: “Look, (P)because the Lord God of your fathers was angry with Judah, He has delivered them into your hand; but you have killed them in a rage that (Q)reaches up to heaven. 10 And now you propose to force the children of Judah and Jerusalem to be your (R)male and female slaves; but are you not also guilty before the Lord your God? 11 Now hear me, therefore, and return the captives, whom you have taken captive from your brethren, (S)for the fierce wrath of the Lord is upon you.”

Assyria Refuses to Help Judah(W)
16 (X)At the same time King Ahaz sent to the [e]kings of Assyria to help him. 17 For again the (Y)Edomites had come, attacked Judah, and carried away captives. 18 (Z)The Philistines also had invaded the cities of the lowland and of the South of Judah, and had taken Beth Shemesh, Aijalon, Gederoth, Sochoh with its villages, Timnah with its villages, and Gimzo with its villages; and they dwelt there. 19 For the Lord [f]brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of (AA)Israel, for he had (AB)encouraged moral decline in Judah and had been continually unfaithful to the Lord. 20 Also (AC)Tiglath-Pileser[g] king of Assyria came to him and distressed him, and did not assist him. 21 For Ahaz took part of the treasures from the house of the Lord, from the house of the king, and from the leaders, and he gave it to the king of Assyria; but he did not help him.
Apostasy and Death of Ahaz(AD)
22 Now in the time of his distress King Ahaz became increasingly unfaithful to the Lord. This is that King Ahaz. 23 For (AE)he sacrificed to the gods of Damascus which had defeated him, saying, “Because the gods of the kings of Syria help them, I will sacrifice to them (AF)that they may help me.” But they were the ruin of him and of all Israel. 24 So Ahaz gathered the articles of the house of God, cut in pieces the articles of the house of God, (AG)shut up the doors of the house of the Lord, and made for himself altars in every corner of Jerusalem. 25 And in every single city of Judah he made [h]high places to burn incense to other gods, and provoked to anger the Lord God of his fathers.
26 (AH)Now the rest of his acts and all his ways, from first to last, indeed they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel. 27 So Ahaz [i]rested with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, in Jerusalem; but they (AI)did not bring him into the tombs of the kings of Israel. Then Hezekiah his son reigned in his place.
