24 約阿施登基的時候是七歲，在耶路撒冷作王共四十年。他的母親名叫西比亞，是別是巴人。 2 耶何耶大祭司在世的日子，約阿施行耶和華看為正的事。 3 耶何耶大為他娶了兩個妻子，他就生了一些兒女。
下令重修聖殿(B)
4 此後，約阿施有意重修耶和華的殿， 5 就召集了眾祭司和利未人，對他們說：“你們要去到猶大各城，向所有以色列人募捐金錢，可以年年修建你們 神的殿；你們應急速辦理這事。”可是利未人卻不急速辦理。 6 於是王把大祭司耶何耶大召來，對他說：“你為甚麼不命令利未人把耶和華的僕人摩西和以色列的會眾，為法櫃的會幕規定的稅款，從猶大和耶路撒冷徵收回來，作修殿的費用呢？” 7 原來那惡婦亞他利雅的眾子曾經拆毀 神的殿，又把耶和華殿中一切分別為聖的物品用來供奉巴力。
8 於是王下令，他們就造了一個櫃，放在耶和華殿的門外； 9 又在猶大和耶路撒冷發出通告，叫人把 神的僕人摩西，在曠野規定以色列人繳交的稅款帶來，獻給耶和華。 10 眾領袖和人民都歡歡喜喜把稅款帶來，投進櫃中，直到他們都投完了。 11 利未人把銀櫃抬到王指定負責這事的人那裡的時候，他們看見稅銀很多，王的書記和大祭司的屬員就來把銀櫃倒空，然後抬回原處。天天都是這樣，所以收集了很多銀子。 12 王和耶何耶大把銀子交給耶和華殿的辦事人員，他們就雇了石匠和木匠，重建耶和華的殿，又雇了鐵匠和銅匠，重建耶和華的殿。 13 作工的人不住工作，重修的工程在他們手下順利進行；他們把 神的殿重建得和先前一樣，並且非常堅固。 14 他們完工以後，就把剩下的銀子送到王和耶何耶大面前，用來製造耶和華殿裡的器皿、供奉和獻祭所用的器皿、盤子，以及各種金銀器皿。耶何耶大在世的日子，眾人都常在耶和華的殿裡獻燔祭。
耶何耶大逝世

全國上下離棄耶和華
17 耶何耶大死後，猶大的領袖們來朝拜王；王聽從了他們的主意。 18 他們離棄了耶和華他們列祖的 神的殿，去事奉亞舍拉和偶像。因為他們的罪， 神的忿怒臨到猶大和耶路撒冷。 19 但耶和華仍然差派先知到他們中間，引導他們歸向耶和華；這些先知雖然警告他們，他們卻不肯聽從。
撒迦利亞責民遭害

約阿施被殺(D)
25 亞蘭人離開約阿施的時候，他們丟下約阿施，因為他受了重傷，他的臣僕要殺害他，為了報復耶何耶大祭司的兒子流血的仇；他們在床上殺死他，他就死了；有人把他埋葬在大衛城裡，只是沒有埋葬在列王的陵墓裡。 26 謀害他的是亞捫婦人示米押的兒子撒拔和摩押婦人示米利的兒子約薩拔。 27 至於約阿施的眾子，以及許多警戒他的話，還有他重建 神的殿的事，都記在列王記的註釋上。約阿施的兒子亞瑪謝接續他作王。

24 De siete años era Joás cuando comenzó a reinar, y cuarenta años reinó en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Sibia, de Beerseba.
2 E hizo Joás lo recto ante los ojos del SEÑOR todos los días de Joiada el sacerdote.
3 Y Joiada tomó para él dos mujeres; y engendró hijos e hijas.
4 Después de esto aconteció que Joás tuvo voluntad de reparar la Casa del SEÑOR.
5 Y juntó a los sacerdotes y los levitas, y les dijo: Salid por las ciudades de Judá, y juntad dinero de todo Israel, para que cada año sea reparada la Casa de vuestro Dios; y vosotros poned diligencia en el negocio. Mas los levitas no pusieron diligencia.
6 Por lo cual el rey llamó a Joiada el principal, y le dijo: ¿Por qué no has procurado que los levitas traigan de Judá y de Jerusalén al tabernáculo del testimonio, la ofrenda que constituyó Moisés esclavo del SEÑOR, y la congregación de Israel?
7 Porque la impía Atalía y sus hijos habían destruido la Casa de Dios, y además habían gastado en los ídolos todas las cosas consagradas para la Casa del SEÑOR.
8 Y mandó el rey que hicieran un arca, la cual pusieron fuera a la puerta de la Casa del SEÑOR;
9 e hicieron pregonar en Judá y en Jerusalén, que trajeran al SEÑOR la ofrenda que Moisés esclavo de Dios había constituido a Israel en el desierto.
10 Y todos los príncipes y todo el pueblo se alegraron; y traían, y echaban en el arca hasta cumplir su deber.
11 Y cuando venía el tiempo para llevar el arca al magistrado del rey por mano de los levitas, cuando veían que había mucho dinero, venía el escriba del rey, y el que estaba puesto por el sumo sacerdote, y llevaban el arca, y la vaciaban, y la volvían a su lugar; y así lo hacían cada día, y recogían mucho dinero;
12 el cual daba el rey y Joiada a los que hacían la obra del servicio de la Casa del SEÑOR, y tomaban canteros y oficiales que repararan la Casa del SEÑOR, y herreros y metaleros para reparar la Casa del SEÑOR.
13 Hacían, pues, los oficiales la obra, y por sus manos fue la obra restaurada, y restituyeron la Casa de Dios a su disposición, y la fortificaron.
14 Y cuando terminaron, trajeron lo que quedaba del dinero al rey y a Joiada, e hicieron de él vasos para la Casa del SEÑOR, vasos de servicio, morteros, cucharros, vasos de oro y de plata. Y sacrificaban holocaustos continuamente en la Casa del SEÑOR todos los días de Joiada.
15 Mas Joiada envejeció, y murió lleno de días; de ciento treinta años era cuando murió.
16 Y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de David con los reyes, por cuanto había hecho bien con Israel, y para con Dios, y con su Casa.
17 ¶ Muerto Joiada, vinieron los príncipes de Judá, y adoraron al rey; y el rey les oyó.
18 Y desampararon la Casa del SEÑOR Dios de sus padres, y sirvieron a los bosques y a las imágenes esculpidas; y la ira vino sobre Judá y Jerusalén por su culpa.
19 Y les envió profetas, para que los hicieran volver al SEÑOR, los cuales les protestaron; mas ellos no los escucharon.
20 Y el espíritu de Dios se envistió en Zacarías, hijo de Joiada el sacerdote, el cual estando sobre el pueblo, les dijo: Así ha dicho Dios: ¿Por qué quebrantáis los mandamientos del SEÑOR? No os vendrá bien por ello; porque por haber dejado al SEÑOR, él también os dejará.
21 Mas ellos hicieron conspiración contra él, y le apedrearon con piedras por mandato del rey, en el atrio de la Casa del SEÑOR.
22 No tuvo, pues, memoria el rey Joás de la misericordia que su padre Joiada había hecho con él, antes le mató su hijo; el cual dijo al morir: El SEÑOR lo vea, y lo requiera.
23 ¶ A la vuelta del año subió contra él el ejército de Siria; y vinieron a Judá y a Jerusalén, y destruyeron en el pueblo a todos los príncipes de él, y enviaron todos sus despojos al rey a Damasco.
24 Porque aunque el ejército de Siria había venido con poca gente, el SEÑOR les entregó en sus manos un ejército muy numeroso; por cuanto habían dejado al SEÑOR Dios de sus padres. Y con Joás hicieron juicios.
25 Y yéndose de él los sirios, le dejaron en sus muchas enfermedades; y conspiraron contra él sus esclavos a causa de la sangre de los hijos de Joiada el sacerdote, y le hirieron en su cama, y murió; y le sepultaron en la ciudad de David, mas no lo sepultaron en los sepulcros de los reyes.
26 Los que conspiraron contra él fueron Zabad, hijo de Simeat, el amonita, y Jozabad, hijo de Simrit, el moabita.
27 De sus hijos, y de la multiplicación que hizo de las rentas, y de la reparación de la Casa del SEÑOR, he aquí está escrito en la historia del libro de los reyes. Y reinó en su lugar Amasías su hijo.

24 ¶ Joash was seven years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Zibiah of Beersheba.
2 And Joash did that which was right in the sight of the LORD all the days of Jehoiada, the priest.
3 And Jehoiada took for him two wives, and he begat sons and daughters.
4 And it came to pass after this that Joash desired to repair the house of the LORD.
5 And he gathered together the priests and the Levites and said to them, Go out unto the cities of Judah and gather of all Israel money to repair the house of your God from year to year, and be diligent in this matter. However the Levites were not diligent.
6 Therefore the king called for Jehoiada, the chief, and said unto him, Why hast thou not required of the Levites to bring in out of Judah and out of Jerusalem unto the tabernacle of the testimony the collection, according to the commandment of Moses, the slave of the LORD and of the congregation of Israel?
7 For the wicked woman, Athaliah, and her sons had broken up the house of God, and they had also bestowed all the dedicated things of the house of the LORD upon Baalim.
8 And at the king’s commandment they made an ark and set it outside at the gate of the house of the LORD.
9 And they made a proclamation through Judah and Jerusalem to bring in to the LORD the collection that Moses the slave of God laid upon Israel in the wilderness.
10 And all the princes and all the people rejoiced and brought in and cast into the ark until they had fulfilled their duty.
11 Now it came to pass, that at what time the ark was brought unto the king’s office by the hand of the Levites and when they saw that there was much money, the king’s scribe and the high priest’s officer came and emptied the ark and took it and returned it to its place. Thus they did day by day and gathered money in abundance.
12 And the king and Jehoiada gave it to those that did the work of the service of the house of the LORD and hired masons and carpenters to repair the house of the LORD and also those that wrought iron and brass to mend the house of the LORD.
13 So the workmen wrought, and by their hands the work was done, and they restored the house of God and strengthened it.
14 And when they had finished it, they brought the rest of the money before the king and Jehoiada, of which they made vessels for the house of the LORD, vessels to minister and to offer with, and spoons and vessels of gold and silver. And they offered burnt offerings in the house of the LORD continually all the days of Jehoiada.
15 ¶ But Jehoiada waxed old and was full of days when he died; he was one hundred and thirty years old when he died.
16 And they buried him in the city of David among the kings because he had done good in Israel, both toward God and toward his house.
17 Now after the death of Jehoiada, the princes of Judah came and worshipped the king. Then the king hearkened unto them.
18 And they left the house of the LORD God of their fathers and served groves and idols, and wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for their guilt.
19 Yet he sent prophets to them to bring them again unto the LORD, and they testified against them, but they would not give ear.
20 And the Spirit of God clothed himself in Zechariah, the son of Jehoiada, the priest, who being over the people, said unto them, Thus hath God said, Why do ye transgress the commandments of the LORD? Ye shall not prosper in this; for because ye have forsaken the LORD, he shall also forsake you.
21 And they conspired against him and stoned him with stones at the commandment of the king in the court of the house of the LORD.
22 Thus Joash, the king, did not remember the mercy which Jehoiada, his father, had done to him but slew his son; who said when he died, The LORD look upon it and require it.
23 And at the end of the year, the host of Syria came up against him, and they came to Judah and Jerusalem and destroyed all the princes of the people from among the people and sent all the spoil of them unto the king of Damascus.
24 For even though the army of the Syrians had come with a small company of men, the LORD delivered a very great host into their hand because they had forsaken the LORD God of their fathers. So they executed judgments against Joash.
25 And when they were departed from him (for they left him in great diseases), his own slaves conspired against him for the blood of the sons of Jehoiada, the priest, and slew him on his bed, and he died; and they buried him in the city of David, but they did not bury him in the sepulchres of the kings.
26 Those that conspired against him were Zabad, the son of Shimeath, an Ammonitess, and Jehozabad, the son of Shimrith, a Moabitess.
27 Now concerning his sons, and of the multiplication that he did of the taxes and the repairing of the house of God, behold, they are written in the story of the book of the kings. And Amaziah, his son, reigned in his stead.
