2 所罗门定意要为耶和华的名建造殿宇，又为自己的国建造宫室。 2 所罗门就挑选七万扛抬的，八万在山上凿石头的，三千六百督工的。 3 所罗门差人去见推罗王希兰，说：“你曾运香柏木于我父大卫建宫居住，求你也这样待我。 4 我要为耶和华我神的名建造殿宇，分别为圣献给他，在他面前焚烧美香，常摆陈设饼，每早晚、安息日、月朔并耶和华我们神所定的节期献燔祭。这是以色列人永远的定例。 5 我所要建造的殿宇甚大，因为我们的神至大，超乎诸神。 6 天和天上的天尚且不足他居住的，谁能为他建造殿宇呢？我是谁，能为他建造殿宇吗？不过在他面前烧香而已。 7 现在求你差一个巧匠来，就是善用金、银、铜、铁和紫色、朱红色、蓝色线，并精于雕刻之工的巧匠，与我父大卫在犹大和耶路撒冷所预备的巧匠一同做工。 8 又求你从黎巴嫩运些香柏木、松木、檀香木到我这里来，因我知道你的仆人善于砍伐黎巴嫩的树木，我的仆人也必与你的仆人同工。 9 这样，可以给我预备许多的木料，因我要建造的殿宇高大出奇。 10 你的仆人砍伐树木，我必给他们打好了的小麦二万歌珥，大麦二万歌珥，酒二万罢特，油二万罢特。”

11 推罗王希兰写信回答所罗门说：“耶和华因为爱他的子民，所以立你做他们的王。” 12 又说：“创造天地的耶和华以色列的神是应当称颂的！他赐给大卫王一个有智慧的儿子，使他有谋略聪明，可以为耶和华建造殿宇，又为自己的国建造宫室。 13 现在我打发一个精巧有聪明的人去，他是我父亲希兰所用的， 14 是但支派一个妇人的儿子，他父亲是推罗人。他善用金、银、铜、铁、石、木，和紫色、蓝色、朱红色线与细麻制造各物，并精于雕刻，又能想出各样的巧工。请你派定这人与你的巧匠和你父我主大卫的巧匠一同做工。 15 我主所说的小麦、大麦、酒、油，愿我主运来给众仆人。 16 我们必照你所需用的，从黎巴嫩砍伐树木，扎成筏子，浮海运到约帕，你可以从那里运到耶路撒冷。”

2 ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ନାମକୁ ସମ୍ମାନିତ କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଶଲୋମନ ଏକ ମନ୍ଦିର ନିର୍ମାଣ କରିବାକୁ ଯୋଜନା କଲେ। ଆହୁରି ମଧ୍ୟ ନିଜ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଏକ ରାଜକୀୟ ଗୃହ ନିର୍ମାଣ କରିବାକୁ ଶଲୋମନ ଯୋଜନା କଲେ। 2 ଶଲୋମନ ପର୍ବତଗୁଡ଼ିକରୁ ପଥର କାଟିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ 70,000 ଶ୍ରମିକ ଓ 80,000 ପଥରକଟାଳୀ ସଂଗ୍ରହ କଲେ। ଆଉ ତଦାରଖ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ 3,600 ତଦାରଖକାରୀଙ୍କୁ ମନୋନୀତ କଲେ।
3 ଏହା ପରେ ଶଲୋମନ, ହୂରମ୍ ନିକଟକୁ ବାର୍ତ୍ତା ପଠାଇଲେ। ହୂରମ୍, ସୋର ସହରର ରାଜା ଥିଲେ।
ଶଲୋମନ କହିଲେ, “ମୋର ବାପା ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ ସାହାଯ୍ୟ କଲାପରି ମୋତେ ମଧ୍ୟ ସାହାଯ୍ୟ କର। ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଦେବଦାରୁ ଗଛର କାଠ ତାଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ପଠାଇଲ, ଯେପରି ସେ ବାସ କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଏକ ଗୃହ ନିର୍ମାଣ କରି ପାରନ୍ତି। 4 ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ମୋର ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ନାମକୁ ସମ୍ମାନ ଦେବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ମୁଁ ଏକ ମନ୍ଦିର ନିର୍ମାଣ କରିବି। ମନ୍ଦିରରେ ଆମ୍ଭେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଧୂପ ଜଳାଇବୁ ଏବଂ ବିଶେଷ ମେଜ ଉପରେ ପବିତ୍ର ରୋଟୀ ସବୁବେଳେ ଅର୍ପଣ କରିବୁ। ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ସକାଳ ଏବଂ ସନ୍ଧ୍ୟାରେ, ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ବିଶ୍ରାମ ଦିନରେ, ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ଅମାବାସ୍ୟା ଦିନରେ ଏବଂ ଅନ୍ୟାନ୍ୟ ପର୍ବ ଦିନରେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଆମ୍ଭର ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କୁ ହୋମବଳି ଦେବୁ। ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ଚିରଦିନ ଏହା କରିବ।
5 “ଆମ୍ଭର ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ଅନ୍ୟ ସମସ୍ତ ଦେବତାଗଣ ଅପେକ୍ଷା ମହାନ ଅଟନ୍ତି। ତେଣୁ ମୁଁ ତାଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଏକ ବିରାଟ ମନ୍ଦିର ନିର୍ମାଣ କରିବି। 6 ବାସ୍ତବରେ କୌଣସି ବ୍ୟକ୍ତି ଆମ୍ଭର ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କୁ ଭିତରେ ରଖିବା ପାଇଁ ଏକ ଗୃହ ନିର୍ମାଣ କରି ପାରିବ ନାହିଁ। ଏପରିକି ସ୍ୱର୍ଗ ବା ସର୍ବୋଚ୍ଚ ସ୍ୱର୍ଗ ମଧ୍ୟ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଧାରଣ କରି ପାରିବ ନାହିଁ। ମୁଁ ମଧ୍ୟ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଏକ ମନ୍ଦିର ନିର୍ମାଣ କରି ପାରିବି ନାହିଁ। କେବଳ ତାଙ୍କଠାରେ ନୈବେଦ୍ୟ ଉତ୍ସର୍ଗ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଏକ ସ୍ଥାନ ନିର୍ମାଣ କରିପାରେ।
7 “ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନ, ଆପଣ ମୋ’ ନିକଟକୁ ସ୍ୱର୍ଣ୍ଣ, ରୌପ୍ୟ, ପିତ୍ତଳ, ଓ ଲୌହ କର୍ମରେ ପାରଦର୍ଶୀ ଏକ ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିକୁ ପଠାଇବାକୁ ମୁଁ ଗ୍ଭହେଁ। ସେହି ବ୍ୟକ୍ତି ବାଇଗଣୀ, ଲାଲ୍ ଏବଂ ନୀଳ ବର୍ଣ୍ଣର ଲୁଗାରେ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କରିପାରୁଥିବା ଆବଶ୍ୟକ। ମୋର ବାପାଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ମନୋନୀତ କାରିଗରମାନଙ୍କ ସହ ସେହି ବ୍ୟକ୍ତି ଯିହୁଦା ଏବଂ ଯିରୁଶାଲମରେ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କରିବ। 8 ଆହୁରି ମଧ୍ୟ ଲିବାନୋନ୍ରୁ ମୋ’ ନିକଟକୁ ଦେବଦାରୁ ଏବଂ ଚନ୍ଦନ ଗଛର କାଠ ପଠାନ୍ତୁ। ତୁମ୍ଭର ଦାସମାନେ ଲିବାନୋନ୍ର କାଠଗଣ୍ଡି କାଟି ଆଣିବାରେ ସିଦ୍ଧ ହସ୍ତ, ଏହା ମୁଁ ଜାଣେ। ମୋର ଦାସମାନେ, ତୁମ୍ଭର ଦାସମାନଙ୍କୁ ସାହାଯ୍ୟ କରିବେ। 9 ମୁଁ ବହୁତ ପରିମାଣର କାଠ ଆବଶ୍ୟକ କରେ; କାରଣ ଯେଉଁ ମନ୍ଦିର ମୁଁ ନିର୍ମାଣ କରୁଛି, ତାହା ବହୁତ ବଡ଼ ଓ ସୌନ୍ଦର୍ଯ୍ୟରେ ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ହେବ। 10 କାଠଗଣ୍ଡି ନିମନ୍ତେ ଗଛ କାଟିବା ପାଇଁ ମୁଁ ଏହିଭଳି ଭାବରେ ତୁମ୍ଭ ଦାସମାନଙ୍କୁ ମୂଲ୍ୟ ଦେଇପାରେ। ମୁଁ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ଖାଦ୍ୟ ନିମନ୍ତେ 20,000 ମହଣ ଗହମ, ଓ 20,000 ମହଣ ଦ୍ରାକ୍ଷାରସ ଏବଂ ତୈଳ 20,000 ମହଣ ପ୍ରଦାନ କରିବି।”
11 ତା'ପରେ ସୋରର ରାଜା ହୂରମ୍, ଶଲୋମନ ନିକଟକୁ ଏକ ଲିଖିତ ବାର୍ତ୍ତା ପଠାଇଲେ। ସେହି ବାର୍ତ୍ତା ଥିଲା:
“ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ତାଙ୍କର ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଭଲ ପାଆନ୍ତି। ସେଥିପାଇଁ ସେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ରାଜା ରୂପେ ମନୋନୀତ କରିଅଛନ୍ତି।” 12 ହୂରମ୍ ଆହୁରି ମଧ୍ୟ କହିଲେ, “ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲର ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ପ୍ରଶଂସା କର। ସେ ସ୍ୱର୍ଗ ଓ ମର୍ତ୍ତ୍ୟ ସୃଷ୍ଟି କଲେ। ସେ ରାଜା ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ ଏକ ଜ୍ଞାନୀ ପୁତ୍ର ଦେଲେ, ଜଣେ ପୁତ୍ର ଯାହାର ଜ୍ଞାନ ଓ ବୁଝାମଣା ଶକ୍ତି ଅଛି। ସେହି ପୁତ୍ର ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଏକ ମନ୍ଦିର ଏବଂ ନିଜ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଏକ ରାଜକୀୟ ପ୍ରାସାଦ ନିର୍ମାଣ କରୁଛନ୍ତି। 13 ମୁଁ ମୋର ବାପାଙ୍କ କାରିଗରମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଜଣକୁ ତୁମ୍ଭ ନିକଟକୁ ପଠାଇବି। 14 ତାଙ୍କର ମା’ ଦାନ୍ ଗୋଷ୍ଠୀରୁ ଆସିଥିଲେ ଏବଂ ତାଙ୍କ ବାପା ସୋର ସହରରୁ ଆସିଥିଲେ। ତାଙ୍କର ସ୍ୱର୍ଣ୍ଣ, ରୌପ୍ୟ, ପିତ୍ତଳ, ଲୌହ, ପ୍ରସ୍ତର ଓ କାଠ ଉପରେ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କରିବାର ଦକ୍ଷତା ଅଛି ଏବଂ ବାଇଗଣୀ, ଲାଲ୍, ନୀଳ ଓ ଦାମୀ ବସ୍ତ୍ର ଉପରେ ମଧ୍ୟ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କରିବାର ଦକ୍ଷତା ଅଛି। ତାଙ୍କୁ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଯାହାକିଛି ତିଆରି କରିବାକୁ କହିବ, ସେ ତାହା କରି ପାରିବେ। ସେ ତୁମ୍ଭର କାରିଗର ଓ ତୁମ୍ଭ ବାପାଙ୍କ କାରିଗରମାନଙ୍କ ସହ ମିଶି କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କରିବେ।
15 “ମହାଶୟ, ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନ ଆମକୁ ଗହମ, ବାର୍ଲି, ତୈଳ ଓ ଦ୍ରାକ୍ଷାରସ ଦିଅନ୍ତୁ, ଯାହା ଆପଣ ଦେବାକୁ ପ୍ରତିଜ୍ଞା କଲେ। ଏହି ଦ୍ରବ୍ୟସବୁ ମୋର ଦାସମାନଙ୍କୁ ଦିଅ। 16 ଆଉ ଆମ୍ଭେ ଲିବାନୋନ୍ରୁ କାଠ କାଟି ଆଣିବୁ। ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଯେତେ ପରିମାଣର କାଠଗଣ୍ଡି ଗ୍ଭହଁ, ତାହା ଆମ୍ଭେ କାଟି ଆଣିପାରିବୁ। ସମୁଦ୍ର ଦେଇ କାଠ ଭେଳାରେ, କାଠଗଣ୍ଡିଗୁଡ଼ିକ ଆମ୍ଭେ ଜାଫୋକୁ ଆଣିବୁ। ତା'ପରେ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ସେ କାଠଗଣ୍ଡିଗୁଡ଼ିକୁ ଯିରୁଶାଲମକୁ ନେଇଯିବ।”
17 ଏହା ପରେ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ଦେଶରେ ରହୁଥିବା ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ବିଦେଶୀଙ୍କୁ ଶଲୋମନ ଗଣତି କଲେ। ଶଲୋମନଙ୍କର ପିତା ଦାଉଦ ଗଣନା କଲାପରେ ଏହା କରାଯାଇଥିଲା। ସେମାନେ ଦେଶରେ 153,600 ବିଦେଶୀଙ୍କୁ ପାଇଲେ। 18 ଶଲୋମନ 70,000 ବିଦେଶୀଙ୍କୁ ଜିନିଷ ବୋହିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ବାଛିଲେ। ଶଲୋମନ 80,000 ବିଦେଶୀଙ୍କୁ ପର୍ବତରୁ ପଥର କାଟିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ବାଛିଲେ। ଆଉ ଶଲୋମନ 3,600 ବିଦେଶୀ ଲୋକଙ୍କୁ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କରାଇବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟବେକ୍ଷକ ରୂପେ ବାଛିଲେ।

Solomon Prepares to Build the Temple(A)
2 Then Solomon (B)determined to build a temple for the name of the Lord, and a royal house for himself. 2 (C)Solomon selected seventy thousand men to bear burdens, eighty thousand to quarry stone in the mountains, and three thousand six hundred to oversee them.
3 Then Solomon sent to [a]Hiram king of Tyre, saying:
(D)As you have dealt with David my father, and sent him cedars to build himself a house to dwell in, so deal with me. 4 Behold, (E)I am building a temple for the name of the Lord my God, to dedicate it to Him, (F)to burn before Him [b]sweet incense, for (G)the continual showbread, for (H)the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the (I)Sabbaths, on the New Moons, and on the [c]set feasts of the Lord our God. This is an ordinance forever to Israel.
5 And the temple which I build will be great, for (J)our God is greater than all gods. 6 (K)But who is able to build Him a temple, since heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain Him? Who am I then, that I should build Him a temple, except to burn sacrifice before Him?
7 Therefore send me at once a man skillful to work in gold and silver, in bronze and iron, in purple and crimson and blue, who has skill to engrave with the skillful men who are with me in Judah and Jerusalem, (L)whom David my father provided. 8 (M)Also send me cedar and cypress and algum logs from Lebanon, for I know that your servants have skill to cut timber in Lebanon; and indeed my servants will be with your servants, 9 to prepare timber for me in abundance, for the [d]temple which I am about to build shall be great and wonderful.
10 (N)And indeed I will give to your servants, the woodsmen who cut timber, twenty thousand kors of ground wheat, twenty thousand kors of barley, twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil.
11 Then Hiram king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon:
(O)Because the Lord loves His people, He has made you king over them.
12 [e]Hiram also said:
(P)Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, (Q)who made heaven and earth, for He has given King David a wise son, endowed with prudence and understanding, who will build a temple for the Lord and a royal house for himself!
13 And now I have sent a skillful man, endowed with understanding, [f]Huram my [g]master craftsman 14 (R)(the son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, and his father was a man of Tyre), skilled to work in gold and silver, bronze and iron, stone and wood, purple and blue, fine linen and crimson, and to make any engraving and to accomplish any plan which may be given to him, with your skillful men and with the skillful men of my lord David your father.
15 Now therefore, the wheat, the barley, the oil, and the wine which (S)my lord has spoken of, let him send to his servants. 16 (T)And we will cut wood from Lebanon, as much as you need; we will bring it to you in rafts by sea to [h]Joppa, and you will carry it up to Jerusalem.
17 (U)Then Solomon numbered all the aliens who were in the land of Israel, after the census in which (V)David his father had numbered them; and there were found to be one hundred and fifty-three thousand six hundred. 18 And he made (W)seventy thousand of them bearers of burdens, eighty thousand stonecutters in the mountain, and three thousand six hundred overseers to make the people work.
