所羅門定意建殿(A)
2 所羅門決意要為耶和華的名建造殿宇，又為自己建造王宮。（本節在《馬索拉文本》為1:18） 2 於是，所羅門選派了七萬人作挑夫，八萬人在山上鑿石，三千六百人作督工。（本節在《馬索拉文本》為2:1） 3 所羅門派人去見推羅王希蘭說：“你怎樣待我的父親大衛，給他運來香柏木，為他建造宮殿居住，請你也這樣待我。 4 現在我要為耶和華我 神的名建造殿宇，分別為聖獻給他，在他面前焚燒芬芳的香，經常擺上陳設餅，每日早晚、安息日、初一，以及耶和華我們的 神所定的節日，都獻上燔祭；這是以色列人永遠的定例。 5 我要建造的殿宇必須宏偉，因為我們的 神偉大，超過眾神。 6 但誰能為他建造殿宇呢？天和天上的天也容不下他；我是誰，怎能為他建造殿宇？我不過在他面前燒香罷了。 7 現在請你派一個巧匠到我這裡來，他要精於使用金、銀、銅、鐵和紫色朱紅色藍色線工作，並且懂得雕刻，好與我的父親大衛在猶大和耶路撒冷預備的巧匠一同工作。 8 又請你從黎巴嫩運送香柏木、松木和檀香木到我這裡來，因為我知道你的臣僕善於砍伐黎巴嫩的樹木；我的臣僕可以和你的臣僕一同工作。 9 給我預備大量的木材，因為我要建造的那殿宇，將會十分宏偉。 10 至於你的僕人，就是砍伐樹木的人，我必給他們食物，就是小麥四百萬公升、大麥四百萬公升、酒四十萬公升、油四十萬公升。”
推羅王答應相助(B)
11 推羅王希蘭回信給所羅門說：“耶和華因為愛自己的子民，所以立你作他們的王。” 12 希蘭又說：“創造天地的耶和華以色列的 神，是應當稱頌的！因為他賜給大衛王一個有智慧的兒子，有聰明有見識，可以為耶和華建造殿宇，為自己建造王宮。 13 現在我派一個技藝精巧、滿有聰明的人來，他是我父親希蘭的匠人。 14 他是但支派一個婦人的兒子，他的父親是推羅人。他精於使用金、銀、銅、鐵、石、木，以及紫色藍色朱紅色線和細麻作工，也能作各樣雕刻的工作，又能設計各樣交託他們的巧工。這人可以和你的巧匠，以及我主你父親大衛的巧匠一同工作。 15 我主所說的小麥、大麥、酒和油，請派人運來給眾僕人。 16 我們必照著你所需要的，從黎巴嫩砍下樹木，紮成木筏，從海上運到約帕，你可以從那裡把它們運上耶路撒冷。”
選派工人(C)
17 所羅門按照他父親大衛數點的數目，又數點了住在以色列地所有的外族人，他們共有十五萬三千六百人。 18 他選派七萬人作挑夫，八萬人在山上鑿石頭，三千六百人作監工，督促人民工作。

2 Vua Sa-lô-môn ra lệnh xây một đền thờ cho danh CHÚA và hoàng cung cho mình. 2 Vua Sa-lô-môn động viên 70,000 người khuân vác, 80,000 người thợ đẽo đá trên núi và 3,600 người đốc công.
3 Vua Sa-lô-môn gởi sứ điệp đến vua Hi-ram ở Ty-rơ: “Ngài đã gởi gỗ bá hương để xây hoàng cung cho vua Đa-vít; ngài đã làm cho vua Đa-vít, cha tôi thể nào, xin ngài cũng làm cho tôi như thế. 4 Giờ đây tôi sắp xây đền thờ cho danh của CHÚA, Đức Chúa Trời tôi, một ngôi đền riêng cho Ngài để đốt hương thơm trước mặt Ngài; để thường xuyên dâng bánh thánh, sớm chiều dâng tế lễ thiêu hoặc trong ngày Sa-bát, ngày trăng mới, các ngày lễ của CHÚA, Đức Chúa Trời chúng tôi theo điều qui định cho Y-sơ-ra-ên muôn đời.
5 Ngôi đền mà chính tôi sắp xây sẽ rất vĩ đại vì Đức Chúa Trời của chúng tôi vĩ đại hơn hết các thần. 6 Nhưng ai là người có khả năng xây đền cho Chúa? Vì các tầng trời, trời của các tầng trời cũng không thể chứa được Ngài. Thế thì tôi là ai mà xây đền cho Chúa? Cất đền chẳng qua là để đốt hương trước mặt Ngài.
7 Vậy, bây giờ xin ngài gởi cho tôi những người thợ lành nghề về vàng, bạc, đồng, sắt, vải tím, vải đỏ thẳm, vải xanh cùng những người thợ chạm khắc để làm việc với những người thợ giỏi của tôi tại Giu-đa và Giê-ru-sa-lem mà cha tôi, vua Đa-vít đã cung cấp.
8 Xin ngài gởi cho tôi gỗ bá hương, gỗ thông, gỗ đàn hương từ Li-ban vì tôi biết rằng các tôi tớ ngài thạo đốn gỗ ở Li-ban. Các tôi tớ của tôi cũng sẽ làm việc với tôi tớ ngài, 9 để đốn nhiều gỗ vì ngôi đền tôi xây sẽ vĩ đại và nguy nga. 10 Tôi sẽ cung cấp cho các tôi tớ ngài, những thợ đốn gỗ hai mươi ngàn cô-rơ[a] lúa mì, hai mươi ngàn cô-rơ lúa mạch, hai mươi ngàn bát[b] rượu và hai mươi ngàn bát dầu ô-liu.” 11 Hi-ram, vua Ty-rơ gởi thơ phúc đáp cho vua Sa-lô-môn: “Vì CHÚA yêu thương dân mình nên đã lập ngài lên làm vua của họ.” 12 Người cũng thêm: “Ca ngợi CHÚA, Đức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên, là Đấng tạo nên trời đất; Ngài đã ban cho vua Đa-vít một người con khôn ngoan hiểu biết, thông minh sáng suốt; người sẽ xây đền thờ cho CHÚA và hoàng cung cho mình.
13 Nay tôi sai một người thợ thành thạo sáng suốt tên Hu-ram A-bi, 14 mẹ người thuộc bộ tộc Đan, cha là người Ty-rơ. Người là thợ thành thạo về đồ vàng, bạc, đồng, sắt, đá, gỗ, vải tím, vải xanh, vải gai mịn, vải đỏ. Người cũng biết chạm trổ và sáng chế bất cứ sản phẩm nào người ta đưa kiểu. Người sẽ làm việc với các thợ của ngài cũng như các thợ của chúa tôi, vua Đa-vít, cha ngài.
15 Vậy, những lúa mì, lúa mạch, dầu và rượu chúa tôi đã hứa, xin ngài gởi cho các tôi tớ ngài. 16 Chúng tôi sẽ đốn tất cả số gỗ ngài cần từ Li-ban và đóng bè theo đường biển chở xuống Gia-phô, rồi ngài sẽ đem lên Giê-ru-sa-lem.”
17 Vua Sa-lô-môn kiểm kê tất cả những người ngoại quốc sống trong lãnh thổ Y-sơ-ra-ên theo như thống kê vua Đa-vít, cha người đã làm; người ta thấy có 153,600 người. 18 Trong số đó, vua đặt 70,000 người là phu khuân vác, 80,000 người làm thợ đẽo đá trên núi và 3,600 người làm đốc công để đốc thúc người ta làm việc.

Preparations for Building the Temple(A)
2 [a]Solomon gave orders to build a temple(B) for the Name of the Lord and a royal palace for himself.(C) 2 He conscripted 70,000 men as carriers and 80,000 as stonecutters in the hills and 3,600 as foremen over them.(D)
3 Solomon sent this message to Hiram[b](E) king of Tyre:
“Send me cedar logs(F) as you did for my father David when you sent him cedar to build a palace to live in. 4 Now I am about to build a temple(G) for the Name of the Lord my God and to dedicate it to him for burning fragrant incense(H) before him, for setting out the consecrated bread(I) regularly, and for making burnt offerings(J) every morning and evening and on the Sabbaths,(K) at the New Moons(L) and at the appointed festivals of the Lord our God. This is a lasting ordinance for Israel.
5 “The temple I am going to build will be great,(M) because our God is greater than all other gods.(N) 6 But who is able to build a temple for him, since the heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain him?(O) Who then am I(P) to build a temple for him, except as a place to burn sacrifices before him?
7 “Send me, therefore, a man skilled to work in gold and silver, bronze and iron, and in purple, crimson and blue yarn, and experienced in the art of engraving, to work in Judah and Jerusalem with my skilled workers,(Q) whom my father David provided.
8 “Send me also cedar, juniper and algum[c] logs from Lebanon, for I know that your servants are skilled in cutting timber there. My servants will work with yours 9 to provide me with plenty of lumber, because the temple I build must be large and magnificent. 10 I will give your servants, the woodsmen who cut the timber, twenty thousand cors[d] of ground wheat, twenty thousand cors[e] of barley, twenty thousand baths[f] of wine and twenty thousand baths of olive oil.(R)”
11 Hiram king of Tyre replied by letter to Solomon:
“Because the Lord loves(S) his people, he has made you their king.”
12 And Hiram added:
“Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, who made heaven and earth!(T) He has given King David a wise son, endowed with intelligence and discernment, who will build a temple for the Lord and a palace for himself.
13 “I am sending you Huram-Abi,(U) a man of great skill, 14 whose mother was from Dan(V) and whose father was from Tyre. He is trained(W) to work in gold and silver, bronze and iron, stone and wood, and with purple and blue(X) and crimson yarn and fine linen. He is experienced in all kinds of engraving and can execute any design given to him. He will work with your skilled workers and with those of my lord, David your father.
15 “Now let my lord send his servants the wheat and barley and the olive oil(Y) and wine he promised, 16 and we will cut all the logs from Lebanon that you need and will float them as rafts by sea down to Joppa.(Z) You can then take them up to Jerusalem.”
17 Solomon took a census of all the foreigners(AA) residing in Israel, after the census(AB) his father David had taken; and they were found to be 153,600. 18 He assigned(AC) 70,000 of them to be carriers and 80,000 to be stonecutters in the hills, with 3,600 foremen over them to keep the people working.
