亚撒的改革
15 上帝的灵降在俄德的儿子亚撒利雅身上， 2 他便出来迎接亚撒，对他说：“亚撒啊，所有的犹大人和便雅悯人啊，请听我说！你们若顺从耶和华，祂必与你们同在。你们若寻求祂，祂必让你们寻见。你们若背弃祂，祂必离弃你们。 3 以色列人已经许久没有真神，没有祭司教导，也没有律法。 4 然而，他们在患难时归向以色列的上帝耶和华，寻求祂，祂就让他们寻见。 5 那时，人们出入不得平安，因为各地都有动乱。 6 邦国与邦国、城邑与城邑互相攻击破坏，因为上帝用各样的灾难扰乱他们。 7 但你们要刚强，不要双手发软，因为你们必因所行的而得奖赏。”
8 亚撒听了俄德的儿子亚撒利雅先知的预言，就鼓起勇气在犹大和便雅悯全境以及他在以法莲山区夺取的各城邑铲除可憎的神像，并在耶和华殿的走廊前重修耶和华的祭坛。

15 El Espíritu de Dios vino sobre(A) Azarías, hijo de Oded, 2 y salió al encuentro[a] de Asa y le dijo: «Óiganme, Asa y todo Judá y Benjamín: el Señor estará con ustedes(B) mientras ustedes estén con Él. Y si lo buscan, se dejará encontrar por ustedes(C); pero si lo abandonan, Él los abandonará. 3 Por muchos días Israel estuvo sin el Dios verdadero(D) y sin sacerdote que enseñara, y sin ley(E). 4 Pero en su angustia se volvieron al Señor, Dios de Israel, y lo buscaron, y Él se dejó encontrar por ellos(F). 5 En aquellos tiempos no había paz para el que salía ni para el que entraba(G), sino muchas tribulaciones sobre todos los habitantes de las tierras. 6 Y era destruida nación por nación, y ciudad por ciudad, porque Dios los afligió con toda clase de adversidades(H). 7 Pero ustedes, esfuércense y no desmayen[b](I), porque hay recompensa por sus obras(J)».
8 Cuando Asa oyó estas palabras y la profecía del profeta Azarías, hijo de Oded[c], se animó y quitó los ídolos abominables de toda la tierra de Judá y de Benjamín, y de las ciudades que había conquistado en la región montañosa de Efraín(K). También restauró el altar del Señor que estaba delante del pórtico del Señor(L). 9 Entonces reunió a todo Judá y Benjamín y a los de Efraín, Manasés y Simeón que residían con ellos. Porque muchos de Israel se pasaron a él cuando vieron que el Señor su Dios estaba con él(M). 10 Así que se reunieron en Jerusalén en el tercer mes del año quince del reinado de Asa. 11 Y aquel día sacrificaron al Señor 700 bueyes y 7,000 ovejas del botín que habían traído(N). 12 Hicieron[d] pacto para buscar al Señor(O), Dios de sus padres, con todo su corazón y con toda su alma; 13 y que todo el que no buscara al Señor, Dios de Israel, moriría, ya fuera pequeño o grande, hombre o mujer(P). 14 Además, lo juraron al Señor a gran voz, con gritos, trompetas y cuernos. 15 Y todo Judá se alegró en cuanto al juramento, porque habían jurado de todo corazón y habían buscado sinceramente[e] al Señor y Él se dejó encontrar por ellos. Y el Señor les dio tranquilidad por todas partes(Q).
16 (R)El rey Asa también depuso a Maaca, su madre[f], de ser reina madre, porque ella había hecho una horrible imagen de[g] Asera[h]. Asa derribó la[i] horrible imagen(S), la hizo pedazos(T) y la quemó junto al torrente Cedrón. 17 Pero los lugares altos no fueron quitados de Israel; sin embargo, el corazón de Asa fue intachable todos sus días. 18 Y trajo a la casa de Dios las cosas consagradas por su padre y sus propias cosas consagradas: plata, oro y utensilios. 19 No hubo más guerra hasta el año treinta y cinco del reinado de Asa.

Asa’s Reform(A)
15 The Spirit of God came on(B) Azariah son of Oded. 2 He went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you(C) when you are with him.(D) If you seek(E) him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.(F) 3 For a long time Israel was without the true God, without a priest to teach(G) and without the law.(H) 4 But in their distress they turned to the Lord, the God of Israel, and sought him,(I) and he was found by them. 5 In those days it was not safe to travel about,(J) for all the inhabitants of the lands were in great turmoil. 6 One nation was being crushed by another and one city by another,(K) because God was troubling them with every kind of distress. 7 But as for you, be strong(L) and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.”(M)
8 When Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Azariah son of[a] Oded the prophet, he took courage. He removed the detestable idols(N) from the whole land of Judah and Benjamin and from the towns he had captured(O) in the hills of Ephraim. He repaired the altar(P) of the Lord that was in front of the portico of the Lord’s temple.
9 Then he assembled all Judah and Benjamin and the people from Ephraim, Manasseh and Simeon who had settled among them, for large numbers(Q) had come over to him from Israel when they saw that the Lord his God was with him.
10 They assembled at Jerusalem in the third month(R) of the fifteenth year of Asa’s reign. 11 At that time they sacrificed to the Lord seven hundred head of cattle and seven thousand sheep and goats from the plunder(S) they had brought back. 12 They entered into a covenant(T) to seek the Lord,(U) the God of their ancestors, with all their heart and soul. 13 All who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, were to be put to death,(V) whether small or great, man or woman. 14 They took an oath to the Lord with loud acclamation, with shouting and with trumpets and horns. 15 All Judah rejoiced about the oath because they had sworn it wholeheartedly. They sought God(W) eagerly, and he was found by them. So the Lord gave them rest(X) on every side.
16 King Asa also deposed his grandmother Maakah(Y) from her position as queen mother,(Z) because she had made a repulsive image for the worship of Asherah.(AA) Asa cut it down, broke it up and burned it in the Kidron Valley.(AB) 17 Although he did not remove the high places from Israel, Asa’s heart was fully committed to the Lord all his life. 18 He brought into the temple of God the silver and gold and the articles that he and his father had dedicated.(AC)
19 There was no more war until the thirty-fifth year of Asa’s reign.

15 The spirit of God came upon Azariah son of Oded, 2 and he went to meet King Asa. He called out, “Listen to me, King Asa, and all you people of Judah and Benjamin! The Lord is with you as long as you are with him. If you look for him, he will let you find him, but if you turn away, he will abandon you. 3 For a long time Israel lived without the true God, without priests to teach them, and without a law. 4 But when trouble came, they turned to the Lord, the God of Israel. They searched for him and found him. 5 In those days no one could come and go in safety, because there was trouble and disorder in every land. 6 One nation oppressed another nation, and one city oppressed another city, because God was bringing trouble and distress on them. 7 But you must be strong and not be discouraged. The work that you do will be rewarded.”
8 When Asa heard the prophecy that Azariah son of[a] Oded had spoken, he was encouraged. He did away with all the idols in the land of Judah and Benjamin and all the idols in the cities he had captured in the hill country of Ephraim. He also repaired the altar of the Lord that stood in the Temple courtyard.
9 Many people had come over to Asa's side from Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon, and were living in his kingdom, because they had seen that the Lord was with him. Asa summoned all of them and the people of Judah and Benjamin. 10 They assembled in Jerusalem in the third month of the fifteenth year that Asa was king. 11 On that day they offered sacrifices to the Lord from the loot they had brought back: seven hundred head of cattle and seven thousand sheep. 12 They made a covenant in which they agreed to worship the Lord, the God of their ancestors, with all their heart and soul. 13 Anyone, young or old, male or female, who did not worship him was to be put to death. 14 In a loud voice they took an oath in the Lord's name that they would keep the covenant, and then they shouted and blew trumpets. 15 All the people of Judah were happy because they had made this covenant with all their heart. They took delight in worshiping the Lord, and he accepted them and gave them peace on every side.
16 King Asa removed his grandmother Maacah from her position as queen mother, because she had made an obscene idol of the fertility goddess Asherah. Asa cut down the idol, chopped it up, and burned the pieces in Kidron Valley. 17 Even though Asa did not destroy all the pagan places of worship in the land, he remained faithful to the Lord all his life. 18 He placed in the Temple all the objects his father Abijah had dedicated to God, as well as the gold and silver objects that he himself dedicated. 19 There was no more war until the thirty-fifth year of his reign.
