⁴Eleazar engendró a Finees, y Finees engendró a Abisúa;

⁶Uzi engendró a Zeraías, Zeraías engendró a Meraiot;

³⁹Y su hermano Asaf, el cual estaba a su mano derecha: Asaf, hijo de Baasías, hijo de Simea;

⁴¹hijo de Etni, hijo de Zera, hijo de Adaía;

⁴²hijo de Etán, hijo de Zima, hijo de Simei;

⁴³hijo de Jahat, hijo de Gersón, hijo de Leví.

⁴⁴Mas los hijos de Merari sus hermanos estaban a la mano siniestra, es a saber, Etán hijo de Quisi, hijo de Abdi, hijo de Maluc;

⁴⁵hijo de Hasabías, hijo de Amasías, hijo de Hilcías;

⁴⁶hijo de Amsi, hijo de Bani, hijo de Semer;

⁴⁷hijo de Mahli, hijo de Musi, hijo de Merari, hijo de Leví.

⁴⁸Y sus hermanos los levitas fueron entregados a todo el ministerio del tabernáculo de la Casa de Dios.

⁵³Sadoc su hijo, y Ahimaas su hijo.

⁵⁴Y éstas son sus habitaciones, por sus palacios y en sus términos, de los hijos de Aarón por las familias de los coatitas, porque de ellos fue la suerte (en herencia),

⁵⁵que les dieron a Hebrón en tierra de Judá, y sus ejidos alrededor de ella.

⁵⁶Mas la tierra alrededor de la ciudad y sus aldeas se dieron a Caleb, hijo de Jefone.

⁵⁷Y a los hijos de Aarón dieron las ciudades de Judá de acogimiento, es a saber, a Hebrón, a Libna con sus ejidos;

⁵⁸a Jatir, a Estemoa con sus ejidos, a Hilén con sus ejidos, a Debir con sus ejidos;

⁵⁹a Asán con sus ejidos, y a Bet-semes con sus ejidos.

⁶⁰Y de la tribu de Benjamín, a Geba, con sus ejidos, a Alemet con sus ejidos, y a Anatot con sus ejidos. Todas sus ciudades fueron trece ciudades, repartidas por sus familias.

⁶¹A los hijos de Coat, que quedaron de su parentela, dieron diez ciudades de la media tribu de Manasés por suerte.

⁶²Y a los hijos de Gersón, por sus familias, dieron de la tribu de Isacar, de la tribu de Aser, de la tribu de Neftalí, y de la tribu de Manasés en Basán, trece ciudades.

⁶³Y a los hijos de Merari, por sus familias, de la tribu de Rubén, de la tribu de Gad, y de la tribu de Zabulón, se dieron por suerte doce ciudades.

⁶⁴Y dieron los hijos de Israel a los levitas ciudades con sus ejidos.

⁶⁵Y dieron por suerte de la tribu de los hijos de Judá, y de la tribu de los hijos de Simeón, y de la tribu de los hijos de Benjamín, las ciudades que nombraron por sus nombres.

⁶⁶Y a las familias de los hijos de Coat dieron ciudades con sus términos de la tribu de Efraín.

⁶⁷Y les dieron de las ciudades de acogimiento, a Siquem con sus ejidos en el monte de Efraín, y a Gezer con sus ejidos,

⁶⁸y a Jocmeam con sus ejidos, y a Bet-horón con sus ejidos,

⁶⁹y a Ajalón con sus ejidos, y a Gat-rimón con sus ejidos.

⁷⁰De la media tribu de Manasés, a Aner con sus ejidos, y a Bileam con sus ejidos, para los de la familia de los hijos de Coat que habían quedado.

⁷¹Y a los hijos de Gersón dieron de la familia de la media tribu de Manasés, a Golán en Basán con sus ejidos y a Astarot con sus ejidos;

⁷²y de la tribu de Isacar, a Cedes con sus ejidos, a Daberat con sus ejidos,

⁷³a Ramot con sus ejidos, y a Anem con sus ejidos;

⁷⁴y de la tribu de Aser a Masal con sus ejidos, a Abdón con sus ejidos,

⁷⁶Y de la tribu de Neftalí, a Cedes en Galilea con sus ejidos, a Hamón con sus ejidos, y a Quiriat-jearim con sus ejidos.

⁷⁷Y a los hijos de Merari que habían quedado, dieron de la tribu de Zabulón a Rimón con sus ejidos, y a Tabor con sus ejidos;

⁷⁸y del otro lado del Jordán frente a Jericó, al oriente del Jordán, dieron, de la tribu de Rubén, a Beser en el desierto con sus ejidos; y a Jasa con sus ejidos.

⁷⁹A Cademot con sus ejidos, y a Mefaat con sus ejidos;

⁸⁰y de la tribu de Gad, a Ramot en Galaad con sus ejidos, y a Mahanaim con sus ejidos,

⁸¹a Hesbón con sus ejidos, y a Jazer con sus ejidos.

⁶¹⁽⁴⁶⁾A los otros clanes de Quehat les tocaron en suerte diez ciudades de la media tribu de Manasés, ⁶²⁽⁴⁷⁾y a los descendientes de Guersón, según el número de sus clanes, les dieron trece ciudades de las tribus de Isacar, Aser y Neftalí, y de la tribu de Manasés que se había establecido en Basán.

⁶³⁽⁴⁸⁾A los descendientes de Merarí, según el número de sus clanes, les tocaron en suerte doce ciudades de las tribus de Rubén, Gad y Zabulón.

⁶⁴⁽⁴⁹⁾Los israelitas dieron estas ciudades con sus campos de pastoreo a los descendientes de Leví. ⁶⁵⁽⁵⁰⁾De las tribus de Judá, Simeón y Benjamín les dieron las ciudades que ya se han mencionado, según les tocó en suerte. ⁶⁶⁽⁵¹⁾A algunos clanes quehatitas les tocaron en suerte ciudades de la tribu de Efraín. ⁶⁷⁽⁵²⁾También les dieron Siquem, la ciudad de refugio, que está en los montes de Efraín, con sus campos de pastoreo, y también Guézer, ^68-69^(53-54)Jocmeam, Bet-horón, Aialón y Gat-rimón, todas ellas con sus campos de pastoreo.

They performed their duties according to the regulations laid down for them.

³³Here are the men who served, together with their sons:

the son of Shemer, ⁴⁷the son of Mahli,

the son of Levi.

⁴⁸Their fellow Levites^(AI) were assigned to all the other duties of the tabernacle, the house of God. ⁴⁹But Aaron and his descendants were the ones who presented offerings on the altar^(AJ) of burnt offering and on the altar of incense^(AK) in connection with all that was done in the Most Holy Place, making atonement for Israel, in accordance with all that Moses the servant of God had commanded.

⁵⁰These were the descendants of Aaron:

Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son,

Abishua his son, ⁵¹Bukki his son,

Uzzi his son, Zerahiah his son,

⁵²Meraioth his son, Amariah his son,

Ahitub his son, ⁵³Zadok^(AL) his son

and Ahimaaz his son.

⁵⁴These were the locations of their settlements^(AM) allotted as their territory (they were assigned to the descendants of Aaron who were from the Kohathite clan, because the first lot was for them):

⁵⁵They were given Hebron in Judah with its surrounding pasturelands. ⁵⁶But the fields and villages around the city were given to Caleb son of Jephunneh.^(AN)

⁵⁷So the descendants of Aaron were given Hebron (a city of refuge), and Libnah,^[h]^(AO) Jattir,^(AP) Eshtemoa, ⁵⁸Hilen, Debir,^(AQ) ⁵⁹Ashan,^(AR) Juttah^[i] and Beth Shemesh, together with their pasturelands. ⁶⁰And from the tribe of Benjamin they were given Gibeon,^[j] Geba, Alemeth and Anathoth,^(AS) together with their pasturelands.

The total number of towns distributed among the Kohathite clans came to thirteen.

⁶¹The rest of Kohath’s descendants were allotted ten towns from the clans of half the tribe of Manasseh.

⁶²The descendants of Gershon, clan by clan, were allotted thirteen towns from the tribes of Issachar, Asher and Naphtali, and from the part of the tribe of Manasseh that is in Bashan.

⁶³The descendants of Merari, clan by clan, were allotted twelve towns from the tribes of Reuben, Gad and Zebulun.

⁶⁴So the Israelites gave the Levites these towns^(AT) and their pasturelands. ⁶⁵From the tribes of Judah, Simeon and Benjamin they allotted the previously named towns.

⁶⁶Some of the Kohathite clans were given as their territory towns from the tribe of Ephraim.

⁶⁷In the hill country of Ephraim they were given Shechem (a city of refuge), and Gezer,^[k]^(AU) ⁶⁸Jokmeam,^(AV) Beth Horon,^(AW) ⁶⁹Aijalon^(AX) and Gath Rimmon,^(AY) together with their pasturelands.

⁷⁰And from half the tribe of Manasseh the Israelites gave Aner and Bileam, together with their pasturelands, to the rest of the Kohathite clans.

⁷¹The Gershonites^(AZ) received the following:

From the clan of the half-tribe of Manasseh

they received Golan in Bashan^(BA) and also Ashtaroth, together with their pasturelands;

⁷²from the tribe of Issachar

they received Kedesh, Daberath,^(BB) ⁷³Ramoth and Anem, together with their pasturelands;

⁷⁴from the tribe of Asher

they received Mashal, Abdon,^(BC) ⁷⁵Hukok^(BD) and Rehob,^(BE) together with their pasturelands;

⁷⁶and from the tribe of Naphtali

they received Kedesh in Galilee, Hammon^(BF) and Kiriathaim,^(BG) together with their pasturelands.

⁷⁷The Merarites (the rest of the Levites) received the following:

From the tribe of Zebulun

they received Jokneam, Kartah,^[l] Rimmono and Tabor, together with their pasturelands;

⁷⁸from the tribe of Reuben across the Jordan east of Jericho

they received Bezer^(BH) in the wilderness, Jahzah, ⁷⁹Kedemoth^(BI) and Mephaath, together with their pasturelands;

⁸⁰and from the tribe of Gad

they received Ramoth in Gilead,^(BJ) Mahanaim,^(BK) ⁸¹Heshbon and Jazer,^(BL) together with their pasturelands.^(BM)
