Ezek voltak a lakóhelyeik. Családjaik származási jegyzékét is összeállították.

34-38 Családfőik a következők voltak: Mesóbáb, Jamélek, Jósá (Amacjá fia), Jóel, Jéhú (aki Josibjá fia, aki Szerájá fia, aki Asziél fia volt), azután Eljóénaj, Jaakóbá, Jesóhájá, Aszájá, Adíél, Jeszímiél, Benája és Zizá (aki Sifi fia, aki Allón fia, aki Jedájá fia, aki Simrí fia, aki Semájá fia volt).

Ezeknek a családjai igen megszaporodtak, 39 ezért Gedór felé terjeszkedtek, a völgy keleti részére, hogy ott keressenek a nyájaiknak legelőt. 40 Találtak is ott dús és tágas legelőket. Az egész vidék csendes és békés volt. Korábban hámiak laktak ott. 41 Ezékiás, Júda királya idejében az említett családfők legyőzték a hámiakat, a sátraikat lerombolták, és a helyükre telepedtek. Hasonlóképpen teljesen kiirtották onnan a meúniakat is. Mindmáig a meúniak közül senki nem lakik ott. Azóta az említett családfők nemzetségei laknak ezen a vidéken, mert ott találtak a nyájaiknak legelőt.

42 Simeon törzséből ötszáz férfi felment a Széír-hegységbe, Jisí fiainak a vezetésével.

So their whole family group didn’t have as many people as Judah had. 28 Shimei’s family group lived in Beersheba, Moladah, Hazar Shual, 29 Bilhah, Ezem, Tolad, 30 Bethuel, Hormah, Ziklag, 31 Beth Markaboth, Hazar Susim, Beth Biri and Shaaraim. These were their towns until David became king. 32 Five of the villages around these towns were Etam, Ain, Rimmon, Token and Ashan. 33 The territory of all the villages around these towns reached all the way to Baalath. They looked for grasslands for their flocks. 40 They found grasslands that were rich and good. The land had plenty of room. It was peaceful and quiet. Some of the people of Ham had lived there before.

41 The men whose names are listed lived at the time when Hezekiah was king of Judah. They came and attacked the Hamites in their homes. They also attacked the Meunites who were there. And they completely destroyed them. What happened to them is clear even to this day. The men of Simeon made their homes where the Meunites had lived. That’s because in that place there were enough grasslands for their flocks. 42 Five hundred of these men came into the hill country of Seir and attacked it. They were led by Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah and Uzziel. These four men were the sons of Ishi. 43 They killed the rest of the Amalekites who had escaped. And they still live there to this day.

41 The men whose names were listed came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah. They attacked the Hamites in their dwellings and also the Meunites(Y) who were there and completely destroyed[h] them, as is evident to this day. Then they settled in their place, because there was pasture for their flocks. 42 And five hundred of these Simeonites, led by Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi, invaded the hill country of Seir.(Z) 43 They killed the remaining Amalekites(AA) who had escaped, and they have lived there to this day.
