复述犹大的子孙

4 犹大的儿子是法勒斯、希斯仑、迦米、户珥和朔巴。 2 朔巴的儿子利亚雅生雅哈；雅哈生亚户买和拉哈。以上这些都是琐拉人的家族。 3 以坦的儿子（“儿子”原文作“父亲”；现参照部分古译本修改）是：耶斯列、伊施玛、伊得巴；他们的妹妹名叫哈悉勒玻尼。 4 基多的父亲是毘努伊勒；户沙的父亲是以谢珥；这些都是伯利恒的父亲以法他的长子户珥所生的。 5 提哥亚的父亲亚施户有两个妻子，就是希拉和拿拉。 6 拿拉给亚施户生了亚户撒、希弗、提米尼、哈辖斯他利；这些人都是拿拉的儿子。 7 希拉的儿子是洗列、琐辖和伊提南。 8 哥斯生亚诺、琐比巴和哈仑的儿子亚哈黑的众家族。 9 雅比斯在众兄弟中最受人尊重，他母亲给他起名叫雅比斯，意思说：“我生产时十分痛苦。” 10 雅比斯呼求以色列的　神说：“深愿你大大地赐福给我，扩张我的境界，你的能力常与我同在，保护我免遭灾祸，不受痛苦。”　神就应允了他所求的。

13 基纳斯的儿子是俄陀聂和西莱雅；俄陀聂的儿子是哈塔和悯挪太（《马索拉文本》缺“悯挪太”，现参照其他抄本和古译本补上）。 14 悯挪太生俄弗拉。西莱雅生革．夏纳欣人的祖先约押；他们原是匠人。 15 耶孚尼的儿子是迦勒；迦勒的儿子是以路、以拉和拿安；以拉的儿子是基纳斯。 16 耶哈利勒的儿子是西弗、西法、提利和亚撒列。 17-18 以斯拉的儿子是益帖、米列、以弗和雅伦。米列娶法老的女儿比提雅为妻；比提雅怀孕，生了米利暗、沙买和以实提摩的父亲益巴。米列的犹大妻子生了基多的父亲雅列、梭哥的父亲希伯和撒挪亚的父亲耶古铁。 19 荷第雅的妻子、拿含的妹妹的儿子是迦米人基伊拉的父亲和玛迦人以实提摩的父亲。 20 示门的儿子是暗嫩、林拿、便．哈南和提伦。以示的儿子是梭黑和便．梭黑。 21 犹大的儿子是示拉；示拉的儿子是利迦的父亲珥、玛利沙的父亲拉大，以及在伯亚实比织造细麻布的众家族。 22 还有约敬、哥西巴人、约阿施和萨拉，他们曾统治摩押地，又有雅叔比利恒。这都是古代的记载。 23 他们都是陶匠，是尼他应和基低拉的居民；他们与王一起住在那里，为王作工。

4 Figli di Giuda: Perez, Chezròn, Carmì, Cur e Sobal. 2 Reaia figlio di Sobal generò Iacat; Iacat generò Acumài e Laad. Queste sono le famiglie degli Zoreatei.

Cur

3 Questi furono i figli del padre di Etam: Izreèl, Isma e Ibdas; la loro sorella si chiamava Azlelpòni. 4 Penuel fu padre di Ghedor; Ezer fu padre di Cusa. Questi furono i figli di Cur il primogenito di Efrata padre di Betlemme.

Ascur

5 Ascùr padre di Tekòa aveva due mogli, Chelea e Naara. 6 Naara gli partorì Acuzzàm, Chefer, il Temanita e l'Acastarita; questi furono figli di Naara. 7 Figli di Chelea: Zeret, Zocar, Etnan e Koz.

21 Figli di Sela, figlio di Giuda: Er padre di Leca, Laadà padre di Maresà, e le famiglie dei lavoratori del bisso in Bet-Asbèa, 22 Iokim e la gente di Cozeba, Ioas e Saraf, che dominarono in Moab e poi tornarono in Betlemme. 4 (A)The sons of Judah were Perez, Hezron, Carmi, Hur, and Shobal. 2 Reaiah the son of Shobal fathered Jahath, and Jahath fathered Ahumai and Lahad. These were the families of the Zorathites. 3 These were the [a]sons of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash; and the name of their sister was Hazzelelponi. 4 Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These were the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah, the father of Bethlehem. 5 Ashhur, the father of Tekoa, had two wives, Helah and Naarah. 6 Naarah bore to him Ahuzzam, Hepher, Temeni, and Haahashtari. These were the sons of Naarah. 7 The sons of Helah were Zereth, [b]Izhar, and Ethnan. 8 Koz fathered Anub and Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel, the son of Harum. 9 Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother named him Jabez, saying, “Because I gave birth to him in pain.” 10 Now Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that You would greatly bless me and extend my border, and that Your hand might be with me, and that You would [c]keep me from harm so that it would not hurt me!” And God brought about what he requested.

11 Chelub the brother of Shuhah fathered Mehir, who was the father of Eshton. 12 Eshton fathered Beth-rapha and Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of [d]Ir-nahash. These are the men of Recah.

13 Now the sons of Kenaz were Othniel and Seraiah. And the sons of Othniel were Hathath and Meonothai. 14 Meonothai fathered Ophrah, and Seraiah fathered Joab the father of [e]Ge-harashim, for they were craftsmen. 15 The sons of Caleb the son of Jephunneh were Iru, Elah, and Naam; and the [f]son of Elah was [g]Kenaz. 16 The sons of Jehallelel were Ziph and Ziphah, Tiria and Asarel. 17 The [h]sons of Ezrah were Jether, Mered, Epher, and Jalon. And Mered’s wife conceived and gave birth to [i]Miriam, Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa. 18 (His Jewish wife gave birth to Jered, the father of Gedor, Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah.) [j]These were the sons of Bithia the daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered [k]married. 19 The sons of the wife of Hodiah, the sister of Naham, were the [l]fathers of Keilah the Garmite and Eshtemoa the Maacathite. 20 The sons of Shimon were Amnon and Rinnah, and Benhanan and Tilon. And the sons of Ishi were Zoheth and Ben-zoheth. 21 The sons of Shelah the son of Judah were Er the father of Lecah and Laadah the father of Mareshah, and the families of the house of the linen workers at Beth-ashbea; 22 and Jokim, the men of Cozeba, Joash, Saraph, who ruled in Moab, and Jashubi-lehem. And the [m]records are ancient. 23 These were the potters and the inhabitants of Netaim and Gederah; they lived there with the king for his work.

Descendants of Simeon

24 The sons of Simeon were [n]Nemuel and Jamin, [o]Jarib, [p]Zerah, and Shaul; 25 Shallum was his son, Mibsam his son, and Mishma his son. 26 The sons of Mishma were Hammuel his son, Zaccur his son, and Shimei his son. 27 Now Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters; but his brothers did not have many sons, nor did all their family increase like the sons of Judah. 28 They lived in Beersheba, Moladah, and Hazar-shual, 29 in Bilhah, Ezem, Tolad, 30 Bethuel, Hormah, Ziklag, 31 Beth-marcaboth, Hazar-susim, Beth-biri, and Shaaraim. These were their cities until the reign of David. 32 Their villages were Etam, Ain, Rimmon, Tochen, and Ashan, five cities, 33 and all their settlements that were around the same cities as far as [q]Baal. These were their dwellings, and they have their genealogy.

34 Meshobab, Jamlech, Joshah the son of Amaziah, 35 Joel, Jehu the son of Joshibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel, 36 and Elioenai, Jaakobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaiah, 37 and Ziza the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah— 38 these [r]mentioned by name were leaders in their families; and their fathers’ houses spread out greatly. 39 They went to the entrance of Gedor, as far as the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks. 40 They found pasture that was rich and good, and (B)the land was spread out on both sides, and peaceful and undisturbed; for those who lived there previously were Hamites. 41 (C)These people, recorded by name, came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and they [s]attacked their tents and the Meunites who were found there, and utterly destroyed them to this day; and they lived in their place, because there was pasture there for their flocks. 42 From them, from the sons of Simeon, five hundred men went to (D)Mount Seir, with Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi, as their leaders. 43 (E)They [t]destroyed the remnant of the Amalekites who escaped, and they have lived there to this day.

4 The descendants of Judah:(A)

Perez, Hezron,(B) Karmi, Hur and Shobal.

2 Reaiah son of Shobal was the father of Jahath, and Jahath the father of Ahumai and Lahad. These were the clans of the Zorathites.

3 These were the sons[a] of Etam:

Jezreel, Ishma and Idbash. Their sister was named Hazzelelponi. 4 Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah.

These were the descendants of Hur,(C) the firstborn of Ephrathah and father[b] of Bethlehem.(D)

5 Ashhur(E) the father of Tekoa had two wives, Helah and Naarah.

6 Naarah bore him Ahuzzam, Hepher, Temeni and Haahashtari. These were the descendants of Naarah.

7 The sons of Helah:

Zereth, Zohar, Ethnan, 8 and Koz, who was the father of Anub and Hazzobebah and of the clans of Aharhel son of Harum.

9 Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez,[c] saying, “I gave birth to him in pain.” 10 Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.

11 Kelub, Shuhah’s brother, was the father of Mehir, who was the father of Eshton. 12 Eshton was the father of Beth Rapha, Paseah and Tehinnah the father of Ir Nahash.[d] These were the men of Rekah.

13 The sons of Kenaz:

Othniel(F) and Seraiah.

The sons of Othniel:

Hathath and Meonothai.[e] 14 Meonothai was the father of Ophrah.

Seraiah was the father of Joab,

the father of Ge Harashim.[f] It was called this because its people were skilled workers.

15 The sons of Caleb son of Jephunneh:

Iru, Elah and Naam.

The son of Elah:

Kenaz.

16 The sons of Jehallelel:

Ziph, Ziphah, Tiria and Asarel.

17 The sons of Ezrah:

Jether, Mered, Epher and Jalon. One of Mered’s wives gave birth to Miriam,(G) Shammai and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa. 18 (His wife from the tribe of Judah gave birth to Jered the father of Gedor, Heber the father of Soko, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah.(H)) These were the children of Pharaoh’s daughter Bithiah, whom Mered had married.

19 The sons of Hodiah’s wife, the sister of Naham:

the father of Keilah(I) the Garmite, and Eshtemoa the Maakathite.(J)

20 The sons of Shimon:

Amnon, Rinnah, Ben-Hanan and Tilon.

The descendants of Ishi:

Zoheth and Ben-Zoheth.

21 The sons of Shelah(K) son of Judah:

Er the father of Lekah, Laadah the father of Mareshah and the clans of the linen workers at Beth Ashbea, 22 Jokim, the men of Kozeba, and Joash and Saraph, who ruled in Moab and Jashubi Lehem. (These records are from ancient times.) 23 They were the potters who lived at Netaim and Gederah; they stayed there and worked for the king.

Simeon(L)

24 The descendants of Simeon:(M)

Nemuel, Jamin, Jarib,(N) Zerah and Shaul;

25 Shallum was Shaul’s son, Mibsam his son and Mishma his son.

26 The descendants of Mishma:

Hammuel his son, Zakkur his son and Shimei his son.

27 Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters, but his brothers did not have many children; so their entire clan did not become as numerous as the people of Judah. 28 They lived in Beersheba,(O) Moladah,(P) Hazar Shual, 29 Bilhah, Ezem,(Q) Tolad, 30 Bethuel, Hormah,(R) Ziklag,(S) 31 Beth Markaboth, Hazar Susim, Beth Biri and Shaaraim.(T) These were their towns until the reign of David. 32 Their surrounding villages were Etam, Ain,(U) Rimmon, Token and Ashan(V)—five towns— 33 and all the villages around these towns as far as Baalath.[g] These were their settlements. And they kept a genealogical record.

34 Meshobab, Jamlech, Joshah son of Amaziah, 35 Joel, Jehu son of Joshibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel, 36 also Elioenai, Jaakobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaiah, 37 and Ziza son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah.

38 The men listed above by name were leaders of their clans. Their families increased greatly, 39 and they went to the outskirts of Gedor(W) to the east of the valley in search of pasture for their flocks. 40 They found rich, good pasture, and the land was spacious, peaceful and quiet.(X) Some Hamites had lived there formerly.

41 The men whose names were listed came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah. They attacked the Hamites in their dwellings and also the Meunites(Y) who were there and completely destroyed[h] them, as is evident to this day. Then they settled in their place, because there was pasture for their flocks. 42 And five hundred of these Simeonites, led by Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi, invaded the hill country of Seir.(Z) 43 They killed the remaining Amalekites(AA) who had escaped, and they have lived there to this day.
