大衛親自預備建殿的材料

29 大衛王對全體會眾說：“我的兒子所羅門，是　神所揀選的，現在還年幼識淺，而這工程非常浩大；因為這殿宇不是為人建造，而是為耶和華　神建造的。 2 我為我　神的殿已經盡了我的力量，預備了金子做金器，銀子做銀器，銅做銅器，鐵做鐵器，木做木器；還有紅瑪瑙、用作鑲嵌的寶石、彩石和各樣的寶石，以及很多大理石。 3 不但這樣，因我愛慕我　神的殿，就在我為建造聖殿預備的一切以外，又把我自己積蓄的金銀獻給我　神的殿： 4 就是俄斐金一百多公噸，精煉的銀子約兩百四十公噸，用來貼殿裡的牆壁； 5 金子做金器，銀子做銀器，以及匠人手所作的各樣巧工。今日有誰願意奉獻給耶和華呢？”

民眾上下一心，自願奉獻

6 於是各家族的領袖、以色列各支派的領袖、千夫長、百夫長和管理王的事務的領袖，都樂意奉獻。 7 為了神殿裡的需用，他們奉獻了金子一百七十多公噸，銀子三百四十多公噸，銅約六百二十公噸和鐵三千四百公噸。 8 有寶石的，都交到耶和華殿這庫房，由革順人耶歇經辦。 9 人民因這些人自願奉獻而歡喜，因為他們一心樂意奉獻給耶和華，大衛王也非常歡喜。

大衛稱頌耶和華

10 所以大衛在全體會眾面前稱頌耶和華，說：“耶和華我們的祖先以色列的　神，是應當稱頌的，從亙古直到永遠。 11 耶和華啊，尊大、能力、榮耀、勝利和威嚴，都是你的；因為天上地下的萬有都是你的；耶和華啊，國度是你的，你是至高的，是萬有之首。 12 富足和尊榮都從你而來，你也統治萬有。在你的手裡有力量和權能；人的尊大、強盛都是出於你的手。 13 我們的　神啊，現在我們要稱頌你，讚美你榮耀的名。 14 我算甚麼？我的人民又算甚麼？竟有力量這樣樂意奉獻？因為萬物都是從你而來，我們只是把從你手裡得來的，奉獻給你。 15 我們在你面前是客旅，是寄居的，像我們的列祖一樣；我們在世上的日子好像影兒，沒有指望。 16 耶和華我們的　神啊，我們預備的這一切財物，要為你的聖名建造殿宇，都是從你而來的，也都是屬於你的。 17 我的　神啊，我知道你察驗人心，喜悅正直；至於我，我以正直的心甘願奉獻這一切；現在我也非常歡喜看見你在這裡的人民，都甘願奉獻給你。 18 耶和華我們列祖亞伯拉罕、以撒、以色列的　神啊，求你永遠保守這一件事，就是使你的子民常存這心思意念，堅定他們的心歸向你。 19 求你賜給我的兒子所羅門專一的心，謹守你的誡命、法度和律例，作成這一切事，用我所預備的一切來建造殿宇。”

眾民稱頌耶和華並且獻祭

20 大衛對全體會眾說：“你們應當稱頌耶和華你們的　神。”於是全體會眾就稱頌耶和華他們列祖的　神，俯伏敬拜耶和華和王。 21 第二天，他們向耶和華獻祭，他們向耶和華獻上燔祭；那一天他們獻了公牛一千頭、公綿羊一千隻、羊羔一千隻，以及同獻的奠祭，又為以色列眾人獻了許多祭。

所羅門登基作王

22 那一天，他們十分喜樂地在耶和華面前吃喝。他們再次表示擁立大衛的兒子所羅門作王，膏他為耶和華作君王，又膏撒督作祭司。 23 於是所羅門坐在耶和華所賜的位上，接續他父親大衛作王；他凡事亨通，以色列眾人都聽從他。 24 眾領袖和勇士，以及大衛王的眾子，都順服所羅門王。 25 耶和華使所羅門在以色列眾人面前非常尊大，又賜給他君王的威嚴，勝過在他以前所有的以色列王。

大衛逝世

29 Apoi regele David a zis întregii adunări:

„Fiul meu Solomon, singurul pe care l-a ales Dumnezeu, este tânăr şi plăpând, iar lucrarea este atât de mare, căci Templul[a] nu este pentru un om, ci pentru Însuşi Domnul Dumnezeu. 2 Am pregătit din răsputeri pentru Casa lui Dumnezeu aur pentru ce este din aur, argint pentru ce este din argint, bronz pentru ce este din bronz, fier pentru ce este din fier, lemn pentru ce este din lemn, pietre de onix de fixat pe monturi, pietre de antimoniu[b], tot felul de pietre preţioase, pietre de diferite culori, precum şi pietre de alabastru din belşug. 3 De asemenea, în râvna mea pentru Casa lui Dumnezeu, pe lângă toate pregătirile pe care le-am făcut pentru Sfântul Lăcaş, ofer pentru Casa Dumnezeului meu bogăţiile mele în aur şi argint 4 – trei mii de talanţi[c] de aur, aur de Ofir, şi şapte mii de talanţi[d] de argint pur – pentru poleirea pereţilor clădirilor 5 şi pentru întreaga lucrare pe care o vor face meşteşugarii; ofer aur pentru lucrările din aur şi argint pentru lucrările din argint. Răspunsul poporului la mesajul regelui

şi o sută de mii de talanţi[i] de fier.

8 Cine a avut pietre preţioase le-a dăruit pentru vistieria Casei Domnului, de care avea grijă gherşonitul Iehiel. 9 Poporul s-a bucurat de darurile pe care le-a făcut, căci le-a dăruit Domnului din toată inima; de asemenea, şi regele David s-a bucurat nespus de mult.

Rugăciunea lui David

10 David a binecuvântat pe Domnul înaintea întregii adunări, zicând astfel:

„Binecuvântat să fii Tu, Doamne, Dumnezeul lui Israel, Părintele nostru, pentru veci de veci! 11 Ale Tale sunt, Doamne, măreţia, puterea, gloria, biruinţa şi maiestatea, atât în ceruri, cât şi pe pământ! A Ta, Doamne, este stăpânirea şi Tu Te înalţi ca suveran peste toate! 12 Bogăţia şi slava vin dinaintea Ta. Tu stăpâneşti peste toate. În mâna Ta este puterea şi tăria; mâna Ta poate să înalţe şi să întărească pe oricine. 13 Acum, Dumnezeul nostru, noi Îţi aducem mulţumiri şi lăudăm slăvitul Tău Nume. 14 Căci ce sunt eu şi ce este poporul meu, ca să putem fi în stare să-Ţi oferim aceste daruri? De la Tine le avem pe toate şi ceea ce Ţi-am oferit a fost primit din mâna Ta. 15 Înaintea Ta noi suntem doar nişte străini şi peregrini, la fel ca şi strămoşii noştri. Zilele noastre pe pământ sunt ca o umbră, fără nădejde. 16 Doamne, Dumnezeul nostru, tot acest belşug pe care l-am strâns ca să zidim o Casă Numelui Tău cel sfânt, vine din mâna Ta şi totul Îţi aparţine Ţie. 17 Dumnezeul meu, ştiu că Tu cercetezi inima, iar curăţia Îţi este plăcută. Eu am dăruit toate acestea în curăţie de inimă şi am privit cu bucurie la poporul Tău, care se află aici, aducându-Ţi darurile lui. 18 Doamne, Dumnezeul lui Avraam, Isaac şi Israel, strămoşii noştri, păstrează această dorinţă în inima poporului Tău pe vecie şi ţine-le inima aproape de Tine! 19 Iar fiului meu Solomon, dă-i o inimă dedicată întru totul, ca să păzească poruncile Tale, mărturiile Tale şi rânduielile Tale, să le împlinească pe toate şi să zidească Templul pentru care am făcut pregătiri.“

Solomon recunoscut drept rege

Necrologul lui David

Contributions for Building the Temple

29 Then King David said to all the assembly, “My son Solomon—God has chosen him alone—is young and inexperienced. The task is great(A) because the building will not be built for a human but for the Lord God.(B) 2 So to the best of my ability I’ve made provision for the house of my God:(C) gold for the gold articles, silver for the silver, bronze for the bronze, iron for the iron, and wood for the wood, as well as onyx, stones for mounting,[a] antimony,[b](D) stones of various colors, all kinds of precious stones, and a great quantity of marble. 3 Moreover, because of my delight in the house of my God, I now give my personal treasures of gold and silver for the house of my God over and above all that I’ve provided for the holy house: 4 100 tons[c](E) of gold (gold of Ophir(F)) and 250 tons[d] of refined silver for overlaying the walls of the buildings, 5 the gold for the gold work and the silver for the silver, for all the work to be done by the craftsmen. Now who will volunteer to consecrate himself to the Lord today?”

6 Then the leaders of the households, the leaders of the tribes of Israel, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds,(G) and the officials in charge of the king’s work(H) gave willingly. 7 For the service of God’s house they gave 185 tons[e] of gold and 10,000 gold coins,[f](I) 375 tons[g] of silver, 675 tons[h] of bronze, and 4,000 tons[i] of iron. 8 Whoever had precious stones gave them to the treasury of the Lord’s house under the care of Jehiel(J) the Gershonite. 9 Then the people rejoiced because of their leaders’ willingness to give, for they had given to the Lord wholeheartedly.(K) King David also rejoiced greatly.

David’s Prayer

10 Then David blessed the Lord in the sight of all the assembly. David said,

May you be blessed, Lord God of our father Israel, from eternity to eternity. 11 Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the splendor and the majesty, for everything in the heavens and on earth belongs to you. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom, and you are exalted as head over all.(L) 12 Riches and honor come from you, and you are the ruler of everything.(M) Power and might are in your hand, and it is in your hand to make great and to give strength to all.(N) 13 Now therefore, our God, we give you thanks and praise your glorious name.

14 But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? For everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your own hand.[j] 15 For we are aliens and temporary residents in your presence as were all our ancestors.(O) Our days on earth are like a shadow, without hope.(P) 16 Lord our God, all this wealth that we’ve provided for building you a house for your holy name comes from your hand; everything belongs to you. 17 I know, my God, that you test the heart(Q) and that you are pleased with what is right.(R) I have willingly given all these things with an upright heart, and now I have seen your people who are present[k] here giving joyfully and[l] willingly to you. 18 Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our ancestors, keep this desire forever in the thoughts of the hearts of your people, and confirm their hearts toward you. 19 Give my son Solomon an undivided heart to keep and to carry out all your commands, your decrees, and your statutes,(S) and to build the building for which I have made provision.(T)

20 Then David said to the whole assembly, “Blessed be the Lord your God.” So the whole assembly praised the Lord God of their ancestors.(U) They knelt low and paid homage to the Lord and the king.(V)

21 The following day they offered sacrifices to the Lord and burnt offerings to the Lord: a thousand bulls, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, along with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel.(W) 22 They ate and drank with great joy in the Lord’s presence that day.

The Enthronement of Solomon

Then, for a second time,(X) they made David’s son Solomon king; they anointed him[m] as the Lord’s ruler,(Y) and Zadok as the priest. 23 Solomon sat on the Lord’s throne as king in place of his father David. He prospered, and all Israel obeyed him.(Z) 24 All the leaders and the mighty men, and all of King David’s sons as well, pledged their allegiance to King Solomon. 25 The Lord highly exalted Solomon in the sight of all Israel(AA) and bestowed on him such royal majesty as had not been bestowed on any king over Israel before him.(AB)

A Summary of David’s Life

26 David son of Jesse was king over all Israel.(AC) 27 The length of his reign over Israel was forty years; he reigned in Hebron for seven years and in Jerusalem for thirty-three.(AD) 28 He died at a good old age,(AE) full of days,(AF) riches, and honor, and his son Solomon became king in his place. 29 As for the events of King David’s reign, from beginning to end, note that they are written in the Events of the Seer Samuel,(AG) the Events of the Prophet Nathan,(AH) and the Events of the Seer Gad,(AI) 30 along with all his reign, his might, and the incidents that affected him and Israel and all the kingdoms of the surrounding lands.

29 Furthermore David the king said unto all the congregation, Solomon my son, whom alone God hath chosen, is yet young and tender, and the work is great: for the palace is not for man, but for the Lord God.

2 Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for things to be made of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and the brass for things of brass, the iron for things of iron, and wood for things of wood; onyx stones, and stones to be set, glistering stones, and of divers colours, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.

3 Moreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house.

4 Even three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the houses withal:

5 The gold for things of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and for all manner of work to be made by the hands of artificers. And who then is willing to consecrate his service this day unto the Lord?

6 Then the chief of the fathers and princes of the tribes of Israel and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king's work, offered willingly,

7 And gave for the service of the house of God of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand drams, and of silver ten thousand talents, and of brass eighteen thousand talents, and one hundred thousand talents of iron.

8 And they with whom precious stones were found gave them to the treasure of the house of the Lord, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.

9 Then the people rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the Lord: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.

10 Wherefore David blessed the Lord before all the congregation: and David said, Blessed be thou, Lord God of Israel our father, for ever and ever.

11 Thine, O Lord is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all.

12 Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.

13 Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name.

14 But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.

15 For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding.

16 O Lord our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee an house for thine holy name cometh of thine hand, and is all thine own.

17 I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of mine heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, which are present here, to offer willingly unto thee.

18 O Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this for ever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of thy people, and prepare their heart unto thee:

19 And give unto Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep thy commandments, thy testimonies, and thy statutes, and to do all these things, and to build the palace, for the which I have made provision.

20 And David said to all the congregation, Now bless the Lord your God. And all the congregation blessed the Lord God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads, and worshipped the Lord, and the king.

21 And they sacrificed sacrifices unto the Lord, and offered burnt offerings unto the Lord, on the morrow after that day, even a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel:

22 And did eat and drink before the Lord on that day with great gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed him unto the Lord to be the chief governor, and Zadok to be priest.

23 Then Solomon sat on the throne of the Lord as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him.

24 And all the princes, and the mighty men, and all the sons likewise of king David, submitted themselves unto Solomon the king.

25 And the Lord magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel, and bestowed upon him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in Israel.

26 Thus David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel.

27 And the time that he reigned over Israel was forty years; seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem.

28 And he died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honour: and Solomon his son reigned in his stead.

29 Now the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of Samuel the seer, and in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the book of Gad the seer,

30 With all his reign and his might, and the times that went over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the countries.

20 Then David said to the whole assembly, “Praise the Lord your God.” So the whole assembly praised the Lord God of their ancestors.(U) They bowed down and paid homage to the Lord and the king.(V)

21 The following day they offered sacrifices to the Lord and burnt offerings to the Lord: 1,000 bulls, 1,000 rams, and 1,000 lambs, along with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel.(W) 22 They ate and drank with great joy in the Lord’s presence that day.

The Enthronement of Solomon

Then, for a second time,(X) they made David’s son Solomon king; they anointed him[m] as the Lord’s ruler,(Y) and Zadok as the priest. 23 Solomon sat on the Lord’s throne as king in place of his father David. He prospered, and all Israel obeyed him.(Z) 24 All the leaders and the mighty men, and all of King David’s sons as well, pledged their allegiance to King Solomon. 25 The Lord highly exalted Solomon in the sight of all Israel(AA) and bestowed on him such royal majesty as had not been bestowed on any king over Israel before him.(AB)

A Summary of David’s Life

26 David son of Jesse was king over all Israel.(AC) 27 The length of his reign over Israel was 40 years; he reigned in Hebron for seven years and in Jerusalem for 33.(AD) 28 He died at a ripe old age,(AE) full of days,(AF) riches, and honor, and his son Solomon became king in his place. 29 As for the events of King David’s reign, from beginning to end, note that they are written in the Events of Samuel the Seer,(AG) the Events of Nathan the Prophet,(AH) and the Events of Gad the Seer,(AI) 30 along with all his reign, his might, and the incidents that affected him and Israel and all the kingdoms of the surrounding lands.
