16 掌管以色列各支派的记在下面:流本支派的首领是细基利的儿子以利以谢;西缅支派的首领是玛迦的儿子示法提雅; 17 利未支派的首领是基母利的儿子哈沙比雅;亚伦子孙的首领是撒督; 18 犹大支派的首领是大卫的哥哥以利户;以萨迦支派的首领是米迦勒的儿子暗利; 19 西布伦支派的首领是俄巴第雅的儿子伊施玛雅;拿弗他利支派的首领是亚斯列的儿子耶利摩; 20 以法莲支派的首领是阿撒细雅的儿子何细亚;玛拿西半个支派的首领是毘大雅的儿子约珥; 21 基列地玛拿西那半个支派的首领是撒迦利亚的儿子易多;便雅悯支派的首领是押尼珥的儿子雅西业; 22 但支派的首领是耶罗罕的儿子亚萨列。以上这些人是以色列各支派的领袖。 23 以色列人二十岁以下的,大卫都没有登记他们的数目,因为耶和华曾经说过要增添以色列人的数目,好象天上的星那样多。 24 洗鲁雅的儿子约押开始数点,但还没有完成,为了这事耶和华的忿怒就临到以色列人身上,所以以色列的人数没有记在大卫王的年录上。

王室财政与产业的主管

25 管理王的库房的,是亚叠的儿子押斯马威;管理郊野、城市、乡村和望楼的仓库的,是乌西雅的儿子约拿单; 26 管理耕田种地的,是基绿的儿子以斯利; 27 管理葡萄园的,是拉玛人示每;管理园里酒库的,是实弗米人撒巴底; 28 管理高原橄榄树和桑树的,是基第利人巴力.哈南;管理油库的,是约阿施; 29 管理在沙仑牧放的牛群的,是沙仑人施提赉;管理在山谷的牛群的,是亚第赉的儿子沙法; 30 管理骆驼的,是以实玛利人阿比勒;管理驴群的,是米仑人耶希底亚; 31 管理羊群的,是夏甲人雅悉。以上这些人都是给大卫王管理产业的官员。

大卫的重要臣仆

32 大卫的叔父约拿单是一个谋士;这人很有智慧,又是一个经学家;哈摩尼的儿子耶歇是王众子的老师。 33 亚希多弗也是王的谋士;亚基人户筛是王的朋友; 34 亚希多弗以后,有比拿雅的儿子耶何耶大和亚比亚他,接续他作谋士;约押作王的元帅。

Military Commanders and Divisions

27 This is the list of Israelite generals and captains,[a] and their officers, who served the king by supervising the army divisions that were on duty each month of the year. Each division served for one month and had 24,000 troops.

Jashobeam son of Zabdiel was commander of the first division of 24,000 troops, which was on duty during the first month. He was a descendant of Perez and was in charge of all the army officers for the first month.

Dodai, a descendant of Ahoah, was commander of the second division of 24,000 troops, which was on duty during the second month. Mikloth was his chief officer.

Benaiah son of Jehoiada the priest was commander of the third division of 24,000 troops, which was on duty during the third month. This was the Benaiah who commanded David’s elite military group known as the Thirty. His son Ammizabad was his chief officer.

Asahel, the brother of Joab, was commander of the fourth division of 24,000 troops, which was on duty during the fourth month. Asahel was succeeded by his son Zebadiah.

Shammah[b] the Izrahite was commander of the fifth division of 24,000 troops, which was on duty during the fifth month.

Ira son of Ikkesh from Tekoa was commander of the sixth division of 24,000 troops, which was on duty during the sixth month.

10 Helez, a descendant of Ephraim from Pelon, was commander of the seventh division of 24,000 troops, which was on duty during the seventh month.

11 Sibbecai, a descendant of Zerah from Hushah, was commander of the eighth division of 24,000 troops, which was on duty during the eighth month.

12 Abiezer from Anathoth in the territory of Benjamin was commander of the ninth division of 24,000 troops, which was on duty during the ninth month.

13 Maharai, a descendant of Zerah from Netophah, was commander of the tenth division of 24,000 troops, which was on duty during the tenth month.

14 Benaiah from Pirathon in Ephraim was commander of the eleventh division of 24,000 troops, which was on duty during the eleventh month.

15 Heled,[c] a descendant of Othniel from Netophah, was commander of the twelfth division of 24,000 troops, which was on duty during the twelfth month.

16 The following were the tribes of Israel and their leaders:

23 When David took his census, he did not count those who were younger than twenty years of age, because the Lord had promised to make the Israelites as numerous as the stars in heaven. 24 Joab son of Zeruiah began the census but never finished it because[d] the anger of God fell on Israel. The total number was never recorded in King David’s official records.

Officials of David’s Kingdom

25 Azmaveth son of Adiel was in charge of the palace treasuries.

Jonathan son of Uzziah was in charge of the regional treasuries throughout the towns, villages, and fortresses of Israel.

26 Ezri son of Kelub was in charge of the field workers who farmed the king’s lands.

27 Shimei from Ramah was in charge of the king’s vineyards.

Zabdi from Shepham was responsible for the grapes and the supplies of wine.

28 Baal-hanan from Geder was in charge of the king’s olive groves and sycamore-fig trees in the foothills of Judah.[e]

Joash was responsible for the supplies of olive oil.

29 Shitrai from Sharon was in charge of the cattle on the Sharon Plain.

Shaphat son of Adlai was responsible for the cattle in the valleys.

30 Obil the Ishmaelite was in charge of the camels.

Jehdeiah from Meronoth was in charge of the donkeys.

31 Jaziz the Hagrite was in charge of the king’s flocks of sheep and goats.

All these officials were overseers of King David’s property.

32 Jonathan, David’s uncle, was a wise counselor to the king, a man of great insight, and a scribe. Jehiel the Hacmonite was responsible for teaching the king’s sons. 33 Ahithophel was the royal adviser. Hushai the Arkite was the king’s friend. 34 Ahithophel was succeeded by Jehoiada son of Benaiah and by Abiathar. Joab was commander of the king’s army.

27 This is the list of the Israelites—heads of families, commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds, and their officers, who served the king in all that concerned the army divisions that were on duty month by month throughout the year. Each division consisted of 24,000 men.

In charge of the first division, for the first month, was Jashobeam(A) son of Zabdiel. There were 24,000 men in his division. He was a descendant of Perez and chief of all the army officers for the first month.

In charge of the division for the second month was Dodai(B) the Ahohite; Mikloth was the leader of his division. There were 24,000 men in his division.

The third army commander, for the third month, was Benaiah(C) son of Jehoiada the priest. He was chief and there were 24,000 men in his division. This was the Benaiah who was a mighty warrior among the Thirty and was over the Thirty. His son Ammizabad was in charge of his division.

The fourth, for the fourth month, was Asahel(D) the brother of Joab; his son Zebadiah was his successor. There were 24,000 men in his division.

The fifth, for the fifth month, was the commander Shamhuth(E) the Izrahite. There were 24,000 men in his division.

The sixth, for the sixth month, was Ira(F) the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite. There were 24,000 men in his division.

10 The seventh, for the seventh month, was Helez(G) the Pelonite, an Ephraimite. There were 24,000 men in his division.

11 The eighth, for the eighth month, was Sibbekai(H) the Hushathite, a Zerahite. There were 24,000 men in his division.

12 The ninth, for the ninth month, was Abiezer(I) the Anathothite, a Benjamite. There were 24,000 men in his division.

13 The tenth, for the tenth month, was Maharai(J) the Netophathite, a Zerahite. There were 24,000 men in his division.

14 The eleventh, for the eleventh month, was Benaiah(K) the Pirathonite, an Ephraimite. There were 24,000 men in his division.

15 The twelfth, for the twelfth month, was Heldai(L) the Netophathite, from the family of Othniel.(M) There were 24,000 men in his division.

23 David did not take the number of the men twenty years old or less,(P) because the Lord had promised to make Israel as numerous as the stars(Q) in the sky. 24 Joab son of Zeruiah began to count the men but did not finish. God’s wrath came on Israel on account of this numbering,(R) and the number was not entered in the book[a] of the annals of King David.

The King’s Overseers

25 Azmaveth son of Adiel was in charge of the royal storehouses.

Jonathan son of Uzziah was in charge of the storehouses in the outlying districts, in the towns, the villages and the watchtowers.

26 Ezri son of Kelub was in charge of the workers who farmed the land.

27 Shimei the Ramathite was in charge of the vineyards.

Zabdi the Shiphmite was in charge of the produce of the vineyards for the wine vats.

28 Baal-Hanan the Gederite was in charge of the olive and sycamore-fig(S) trees in the western foothills.

Joash was in charge of the supplies of olive oil.

29 Shitrai the Sharonite was in charge of the herds grazing in Sharon.(T)

Shaphat son of Adlai was in charge of the herds in the valleys.

30 Obil the Ishmaelite was in charge of the camels.

Jehdeiah the Meronothite was in charge of the donkeys.

31 Jaziz the Hagrite(U) was in charge of the flocks.

All these were the officials in charge of King David’s property.

32 Jonathan, David’s uncle, was a counselor, a man of insight and a scribe. Jehiel son of Hakmoni took care of the king’s sons.

33 Ahithophel(V) was the king’s counselor.

Hushai(W) the Arkite was the king’s confidant. 34 Ahithophel was succeeded by Jehoiada son of Benaiah and by Abiathar.(X)

Joab(Y) was the commander of the royal army.

Jashobeam the son of Zabdiel led the first division for the first month; in his division, twenty-four thousand. He was from the sons of Perez and was the leader of all the officers of the army for the first month.

Dodai the Ahohite and his division led the division of the second month with Mikloth as the ruler: in his division, twenty-four thousand.

The third commander of the army for the third month was Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, a chief priest: in his division, twenty-four thousand. Benaiah himself was the mighty man of the thirty who led the thirty: Ammizabad his son led his division.

The fourth for the fourth month, Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son after him: in his division, twenty-four thousand.

The fifth for the fifth month, the leader Shamhuth the Izrahite: in his division, twenty-four thousand.

The sixth for the sixth month, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite: in his division, twenty-four thousand.

10 The seventh for the seventh month, Helez the Pelonite, from the sons of Ephraim: in his division, twenty-four thousand.

11 The eighth for the eighth month, Sibbekai the Hushathite, of the Zerahites: in his division, twenty-four thousand.

12 The ninth for the ninth month, Abiezer the Anathothite, of the Benjamites: in his division, twenty-four thousand.

13 The tenth for the tenth month, Maharai the Netophathite, of the Zerahites: in his division, twenty-four thousand.

And because of this wrath came on Israel, and the number was not recorded in the account of the chronicles of King David.

Civic Officials

25 Azmaveth the son of Adiel was over the king’s treasures, and Jonathan the son of Uzziah was over the storehouses in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the towers.
